64: Extraordinary Polymers

After chatting for a while, the three decided to pack up their equipment and go cause trouble for Victor.

During this time, Locke Galahad let the bats that had been hanging upside down from the ceiling—intended for a surprise attack during the battle with Kraven—fly away.

To be honest, he hadn't expected Kraven to be so weak that he didn't even get to use this contingency plan.

Seeing that he could actually control bats, Serena and Erica nearby couldn't help but be stunned, their eyes filled with curiosity.

Because they had never seen such a near-mystical ability before; they had only learned a little about it in ancient texts, but they had always regarded it as mere legend.

"So the legend that Vampires can control bats is actually true." Serena was somewhat dumbfounded.

Erica frowned, mimicking his finger-snapping. After realizing it was completely useless, she subconsciously complained, "Fake. Why can't I control them, but Locke Galahad can?"

Watching her, Serena sighed helplessly and shook her head. "Erica, it's obvious that Locke Galahad isn't controlling them with a snap of his fingers. How could you possibly make the bats listen to you just by imitating him?"

"Hahaha. Serena is right." Locke Galahad laughed along, but upon seeing Erica's curious gaze, he could only say with a touch of helplessness, "Snapping my fingers is just a distraction. You wouldn't be able to learn the true ability even if I told you, so please don't ask any more, okay?"

"Fine. Anyway, I don't really like bats; these guys are too ugly." Erica first showed a look of disgust, then looked at him with admiration. "But now I completely believe you have the ability to defeat Marcus and William."

"You just need to trust me. When I say I have confidence, it means I have at least a seventy percent chance."

The three chatted for a while longer. Just as Serena was about to open the room's armory to retrieve some good weapons to deal with Victor, Locke Galahad and the other two were surprised to discover that Kraven's corpse, which had previously been barely recognizable as human, had silently curled into a red, fleshy branch, looking like a tree as a whole.

Red roots below were deeply embedded in the ground, and a bunch of red, fleshy flowers grew above. As time passed, the fleshy flower slowly bloomed.

In the center of the flower bud was a red, translucent crystal, somewhat murky inside. Locke Galahad sensed that it was still surrounded by a fair amount of mysterious aura, just like when Kraven had unleashed his full power earlier—this was the Extraordinary aura that one could only possess after stepping into a Sequence.

However, compared to the aura Locke Galahad possessed after transforming into his true Sequence 9 Night Demon state, this crystal was much weaker.

After a few seconds, as the flower bud fully opened, the entire crystal was exposed to the eyes of the three.

Only then did Locke Galahad realize that it wasn't a crystal at all, but an eyeball-shaped object. What they had seen before was merely the normal white part of the eye, but for some reason, the sclera of this eyeball had turned red, and the pupil in the center was dark black.

This thing looked very eerie just by looking at it.

Of course, this alone wasn't enough to make Locke Galahad, an Extraordinary Sequence, feel creeped out. It was only after he looked closely that he noticed small, red roots drifting in the air, resembling human blood vessels, except that the blood vessels on this eyeball were directly exposed to the air.

Locke Galahad held his breath, suppressing his curiosity, and did not rashly reach out to take it. After all, this thing had grown from Kraven's corpse, and no one knew if it was harmful to humans.

He even suspected that this might be a hidden contingency plan of Kraven's.

"What on earth is this thing?"

"Why don't we just pick it up and take a look?"

Erica was quite bold; as soon as she finished speaking, she wanted to reach out and grab it. However, Locke Galahad would certainly not let her perform such a risky action and quickly reached out to stop her.

"Let's watch it first. Don't act rashly for now. This thing looks a bit eerie. Let me probe it first."

After saying that, he used [Bat Affinity] to summon a few bats, intending to let them test the waters.

However, just as two small bats flew in, the Great Bat, which he had chased away earlier due to the danger, flew in with excitement and landed on his shoulder: "Squeak, my master, my master, congratulations on your complete victory."

"Don't cause trouble; now is not the time for flattery." Locke Galahad ignored it and prepared to continue having the ordinary bats pick up the object to see if anything unexpected would happen.

Just then, the Great Bat noticed the eyeball-shaped crystal, and its eyes immediately shone with a strange light: "My master, is this your loot? Can you give it to me? I feel that if I eat this supernatural polymer, I will become even stronger!"

This thing seemed to be the thing it craved most in the depths of its genes.

Therefore, after seeing the tentacled eyeball growing on the fleshy flower, it immediately began to beg Locke Galahad.

"Are you sure this thing is edible?" Locke Galahad turned his head and looked at the Great Bat with some doubt: "You must not misperceive it. This thing doesn't look like anything good. If you die, I'll have to cultivate a new one."

Hearing this, the Great Bat flapped its wings very eagerly, wishing it could immediately pounce and swallow the thing: "My master, this supernatural polymer is good stuff. I feel it can let me advance and become a stronger and more mysterious creature..."

Hearing the Great Bat say this, Locke Galahad had a rough guess about this object.

This should be similar to the crystal cores that drop after killing monsters in games. In layman's terms, it was a crystal condensed from Kraven's entire Extraordinary essence after he killed him.

However, calling it a crystal wasn't quite right. Using the Great Bat's term, "supernatural polymer," actually sounded quite fitting.

However, seeing how eerie the eyeball was, Locke Galahad felt a bit uneasy; he certainly wouldn't eat it himself.

But he was a bit unwilling to just give it to the Great Bat like that.

After all, it was hard to say what this thing was worth right now. If it could be used to cultivate a half-step Sequence 9 Extraordinary Creature, it would be a pity to just let the bat eat it.

Seeing Locke Galahad thinking and seemingly hesitant, the Great Bat hurriedly flew down from his shoulder and hovered in the air in front of Locke Galahad, nodding continuously: "My master, please bestow this thing upon me. I will serve you even more devotedly in the future. This little crystal core can let me advance, but if a Vampire were to eat it, the energy within it likely wouldn't be enough to support a complete transformation."

Locke Galahad's hand, which was stroking his chin, froze instantly.

"Hmm...?"
