49: Turning black into white

Kraven thought this, but he did not say it out loud. After all, he did not yet have much confidence that he could deal with Victor.

In his view, the strength of this old guy was unfathomable among the Vampire species.

Of course, if compared to that lord behind him, it was simply like a firefly competing with the bright moon, not worth mentioning.

Seeing that he remained calm under his pressure, Victor became interested and suppressed him with words:

"Kraven, have you been with Elder Marcus for so long that you have forgotten how to maintain respect for an Elder?"

Kraven gave a disdainful "Tch" in his heart, then slowly knelt on one knee and lowered his head:

"Kraven, personal guard under Elder Marcus, greets... Elder Victor."

While his words seemed to be a concession, they were actually a reminder to Victor that his superior was Marcus.

"Hmph, get up. You should know why I called you here, right?"

Victor did not care about the little tricks in his words; he lowered his head and busied himself with grooming his claws, which were sharper than blades, then said nonchalantly:

"Speak. However, if you cannot convince me, then I will only be able to say sorry to Elder Marcus."

After speaking, he lightly dragged his claws across the bronze seat. It looked effortless and casual, but it made a screeching sound, and he scratched several deep marks into the armrest of the bronze chair.

Coupled with his calm voice, it immediately made one feel an unquestionable sense of authority.

It was mainly because it involved the person he hated the most, Lucien, which was why Victor was unwilling to even give face to Marcus.

This jarring sound, even from several meters away, made Kraven feel the chill coming from Victor's fingertips.

However, he still felt some disdain in his heart.

Having cultivated the secret codex, he could also achieve this level at this moment.

Although the marks he might leave might not be as deep as the other's, he did not feel that he was weaker than him.

The secret codex could improve strength in all aspects.

Besides his sharp claws, he also had other extraordinary means at his disposal. However, considering many factors, he did not plan to tear off the mask of civility now, so he spoke to explain:

"What Serena said is purely a rumor. That Lucien was killed by my own hands several centuries ago."

"As for the pendant she mentioned, it is possible that someone else from the Werewolf Clan picked it up and carried it on them as a legacy."

"Oh, so you are insisting that you did not cooperate with Lucien? And that Serena is framing you?"

Victor looked into his eyes, half-believing, but of course, mostly suspicious.

Serena, who had been silent for a long time, heard this and immediately wanted to speak up to defend herself.

"I..."

However, before the next word could leave her mouth, she was stopped by a gesture from Victor.

"It is not your time to speak yet. Please remain quiet, Serena." Victor cast a cold glance at her, then continued to focus his gaze on Kraven.

Kraven was not stupid; he knew he had not revealed any flaws. Even the mobile phone used to contact the Werewolf Clan had long been destroyed by him, so naturally, it was impossible for him to admit to the crime of betrayal.

"I am not saying that Serena is framing me, but rather that she has been misled by someone with ulterior motives."

"Oh? Tell me. I know Serena's temperament; I do not believe anyone could mislead her."

Kraven knew he had piqued Victor's interest; he had said it intentionally.

Because he had long known that the reason Victor adopted Serena was that he treated her as a substitute for his own daughter.

And he also knew the story of Victor's daughter and the Werewolf falling in love very clearly.

With a faint smile, he glanced at Serena and then continued:

"Reporting to Lord Victor, a few days ago, Serena brought back an ordinary human she had turned into a Vampire. Presumably, she has not told you about this, has she?"

Hmm?

Hearing this, Victor's eyes fluctuated slightly, and he immediately turned his head to look at Serena and questioned:

"You gave your turning so easily to an ordinary human?"

Serena held her head high, not intimidated by his sharp gaze, and shook her head firmly, saying:

"He is different. He is special."

"Hmph, special."

Victor snorted softly and muttered, his tone clearly dissatisfied. He was born a noble, so he naturally looked down on ordinary humans, let alone Werewolves.

In his eyes, these were all lowly lives, unworthy of being turned by noble Vampires.

This obvious emotional fluctuation immediately allowed the sinister-minded Kraven to seize the opportunity and continue:

"Lord Victor, that person is not an ordinary character. Like Elder Marcus, he possesses the bloodline of Alexander Corvinus..."

"If that is the case, then it is not considered lowly." Kraven's words calmed Victor's previously angry heart a bit.

"However, is there not another important matter that Serena has not mentioned to you?"

"What matter?" Victor asked with curiosity.

Kraven turned back, gave Serena a sneer, and then continued to answer Victor:

"That is, the blood of the person she brought back can neutralize Vampire and Werewolf bloodlines. The reason the Werewolves are looking for him is that they want to capture him to cultivate hybrids."

After hearing this, Victor was so angry that his sparse white hair almost stood on end.

With killing intent almost materializing in his eyes, he looked at Serena and questioned her in a very cold tone: "Serena, you had better give me an explanation."

This was the thing he hated most, aside from Lucien.

He could not tolerate Werewolves and Vampires copulating; in his eyes, this was a defilement of the sacred Vampire bloodline, and it was the thing he could least accept.

This was also the reason why he would rather execute his own daughter than allow her and Lucien to be together.

"I, I did not know about this matter that Kraven spoke of. Please, foster father, give me some time to investigate."

Serena's expression changed drastically, and she hurriedly knelt on one knee to plead.

She had never thought that Locke was being hunted by the Werewolves for this reason.

If she had known, she would never have brought Locke back to the Vampire Base, because in the entire Vampire Clan, everyone knew that compared to the other two Elders, Victor hated the Werewolf bloodline the most.

"Investigate? No need to investigate. I will give you one chance. Bring his corpse to me, and I will be able to tell."

"I cannot do that." Serena shook her head in despair.

"If you cannot do it, then I will have to take action myself."

Victor clenched his hands and then threatened: "Whether he will be left in one piece by then, well, that is hard to say."

Serena, with pleading eyes, looked at Victor sitting above and said with a tearful voice: "Foster father, can you not spare his life? He has done nothing wrong, and he has already been turned into a Vampire by me. As long as I protect him well and do not let him be captured by the Werewolves, that situation will not happen."

Serena was genuinely worried, so she was wholeheartedly pleading with Victor for Locke.

Even though she knew Locke's strength was not bad, what he had shown her was only on par with her when she fought with full effort. Additionally, in Serena's memory, she had never seen Victor lose.

Victor lowered his eyelids and stared coldly at Serena.

"The fact that he possesses this bloodline is his fault. This kind of thing that would pollute the noble Vampire bloodline should not exist in this world."
