141: Holding a grudge

Chapter 141: Holding a Grudge

Locke Galahad was a very vengeful person by nature, and he hadn't forgotten the fact that the other party had just slammed into him so violently.

Moreover, if he just let Jason take his axe and machete back like that, the man might start a killing spree once he returned to Crystal Lake, turning his butcher's blade toward innocent people.

While Locke Galahad didn't consider himself a kind person and never went out of his way to do good deeds, this was something he could do easily today.

Since he could vent his frustration and do a bit of good at the same Time, why not do it?

Time gave him a deep look through his mask, knowing that Locke Galahad was just venting. Thus, he said nothing more. With a wave of his large hand and no other movement, a complex circular magic circle appeared on the ground beneath Jason.

Following that, Locke Galahad felt a powerful surge of supernatural aura erupt from Time. Then, a flash of moonlight passed, and in the blink of an eye—

The serial killer, Jason, had completely vanished from the room. Had it not been for the crater he had smashed into the floor earlier, there would be no trace in the entire room that he had ever been there.

“Thank you for your help.” Seeing this, Locke Galahad cupped his hands toward Old Man Time again to express his gratitude.

Even though the other man had teased him just now, one thing was separate from another; after all, this could be considered saving his life.

“No need.”

Time raised his hand slightly. “I must warn you again. Although that mask doesn't have major side effects, if you wear it too often, his aura will linger on you. When that happens, that big guy will come looking for you again.”

“Is there no good way to mask the aura?”

With a slight thought, Time closed his eyes and sensed the state of Locke Galahad's body. This sensing was startling; his expression suddenly changed again as he looked at Locke Galahad with a frown, filled with confusion and bewilderment. “What on earth have you done? How could your body be tainted with so many various terrifying auras?”

“Huh? I didn't do anything.” Locke Galahad spread his hands, secretly pondering in his heart.

“No, that's not right.”

With a grim face, Time reached out to touch him and sensed carefully once more. “Hiss—!”

This investigation was even worse than the last, causing him to suck in a breath of cold air. His gaze became solemn. “Besides the Goddess of the Night, you actually have so many auras similar to the Lady Goddess on you—”

“Excluding that big guy from just now, not a single one of them is weak.”

After muttering to himself for a bit, he looked at Locke Galahad very seriously and asked, “Tell me, have you been secretly attempting sacrifices lately?”

“No. I haven't even looked much at that book you gave me.”

Locke Galahad was also startled, but he guessed it might be because of the pile of skills he possessed.

Seeing Time acting so solemnly, he also secretly warned himself to use those skills with heavy side effects cautiously in the future, lest he truly become a human lightbulb in the eyes of those entities.

When that Time came, even if he didn't want to die, it would likely be very difficult to avoid.

Time stared intently into Locke Galahad's eyes, and after ensuring he wasn't lying, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

“It's good that you haven't performed any sacrifices.”

He was mainly worried that Locke Galahad hadn't heeded his warning and had performed a private ritual after returning, thereby attracting the gaze of some hidden entities.

None of those who could be called hidden entities were simple; they were powerful existences that even he could not deal with.

Even if they hadn't reached godhood yet, they weren't far from it. Once Locke Galahad was targeted by them, he would be as good as dead.

“Mr. Time, you are well-traveled and knowledgeable. Is there any way to mask these messy auras on me so others can't sense them?”

With his hands behind his back, Time pondered for a moment before saying slowly, “Since you haven't performed a sacrifice, you might have accidentally picked them up somewhere. If that's the case, I have a way to help you suppress them all.”

“What way?” Locke Galahad thought of the pile of items and skills on him and decided he had to try, regardless of the method.

It would be best to hide these auras before he had fully grown.

This would prevent him from being noticed too early by the beings behind those skills or items.

Time had no intention of hiding it. When Locke Galahad asked, he spoke truthfully: “This method requires you to truly join the Cult of the Goddess of Night before you can learn it.”

Locke Galahad kept his lips pressed together and didn't agree immediately. Time knew he was hesitating, so he continued, “Of course, I can apply this mark to you now to suppress the auras other than the Goddess of the Night's, but that will only last for less than a week at most.”

“Once the Time is up, those complex auras on you will still be exposed.”

After explaining the pros and cons, Time stopped talking and turned to walk toward Marcus's side, intending to harvest the supernatural polymer that had condensed on the corpse.

On this side, Locke Galahad pondered for a while, recalling the figure dressed as a wizard in his memory. Then, he gritted his teeth and made a decision.

“I wonder if the Cult of the Goddess of Night is considered orthodox or—”

“Naturally, it is orthodox.” Time tucked away the supernatural polymer and said nonchalantly, “The Cult of the Goddess of Night is one of the eight orthodoxies recognized by the Holy See. The Lady Goddess governs the entire night of Terra.”

“She is one of the greatest deities in this world.”

Locke Galahad searched his mind and found that he had indeed heard of this cult from his parents' mouths. It was only because his whole family were practitioners of Christianity that they hadn't looked into it deeply.

With no more doubts, he clasped his hands and bowed to Time, saying solemnly, “I understand.”

“Then please, Mr. Time, help introduce me. I am willing to join the Cult of the Goddess of Night.”

Since he had confirmed that the Cult of the Goddess of Night was orthodox, and compared to the white-haired figure in that pink space in his dream, he felt that the mysterious person in the wizard robes who had saved him was more trustworthy.

“Good, good, good. Very good.”

Seeing that he was willing to join the Goddess's cult, Time was in high spirits. All previous unpleasantness was instantly tossed to the back of his mind.

After all, setting aside his shamelessness, he considered Locke Galahad a very good prospect in every other aspect.

Furthermore, since the Goddess of the Night already seemed to favor Locke Galahad, he was particularly happy that he could recruit Locke Galahad into the Cult of the Goddess of Night.

“I am very gratified that you chose the Cult of the Goddess of Night.”

“Then tell me, when can I join the cult and learn that seal?”

“Now you're the one getting impatient.”
