9: First Embrace

Serena was clearly intending to turn him into a Vampire right now.

Her red lips pressed against Locke's shoulder and neck,

her sharp fangs meeting no resistance, easily piercing through the final barrier on his body and sinking into his flesh.

"Hah... ah..."

Immediately, Locke felt a sharp pain radiating from his shoulder, but he forced himself to endure it.

He was actually quite surprised by Serena's sudden action.

It was mainly because he hadn't expected the conquest of Serena to be so fast; it was much simpler than the effort spent convincing Lucien.

If he wanted to, he could immediately take out Michael's blood and Lucien's blood from his Personal Space and ingest them,

and then obtain the top-tier constitution from Underworld to become a Hybrid.

However, now was not the time to show his hand,

because he still didn't know the information regarding the locations of Victor and Marcus.

If he alerted the enemy now and ended up unable to kill the two of them, he feared he wouldn't be able to complete the system mission.

The reason Serena acted so suddenly was mainly because of what Locke had just said, which had touched her heart; coupled with the siege of the Werewolf Clan outside, it made her make up her mind.

Since she couldn't break through the Werewolf Clan's encirclement while carrying an ordinary human, she would simply turn Locke into a Vampire right now.

One Vampire and one ordinary human wouldn't work, but with two Vampires working together, there would at least be a better chance of survival.

Moreover, she wasn't afraid that Locke was deceiving her.

Because even if she found out later that Locke was truly deceiving her, she had the confidence to counter him with her own strength.

After all, she was the number one warrior of the Vampire race; handling someone like Locke, who had just been turned into a Vampire, would be an easy task.

It could be said that this act of turning him was the optimal solution Serena had arrived at after brief consideration upon discovering the arrival of the Werewolf Clan.

Locke silently felt the pain in his shoulder and the warmth of Serena's red lips; furthermore, a faint, lingering scent of roses invaded his nostrils.

After drinking a few mouthfuls of blood from Locke, Serena reluctantly pulled away:

"Alright, the Embrace ceremony is complete. In 10 minutes, you will transform into a Vampire, possessing an extraordinary constitution and astonishing agility."

Raising her hand to wipe her mouth, she hadn't expected Locke's blood to be so sweet and fragrant, which was why she couldn't help but drink a few mouthfuls.

But in reality, to turn someone into a Vampire, one only needed to bite them; there was no need to drink their blood.

However, what surprised her was that she hadn't seen any of Locke's memory fragments from his blood just now.

Of course, she didn't pay too much attention to it; after all, the ability to extract memories through drinking blood was inherently quite random.

Except for Elder-level Vampires, the ability to extract memories for a second-generation like her had already been weakened significantly; whether she could see them depended entirely on luck.

"Thank you."

Despite the pain in his body, Locke was indescribably excited inside.

He hadn't expected that the items needed for the Hybrid would be gathered so quickly, making him feel it was all a bit too smooth.

It was just that the previously activated side quest hadn't been completed, and Locke guessed that Serena probably still didn't fully trust him.

Turning him into a Vampire at this point was mostly done out of pressure from the external siege of the Werewolf Clan.

It could only be considered an unexpected bonus.

According to Locke's own plan, normally, it would be after escaping the Werewolf Clan's pursuit, and after he had endured the pain to save Serena, that she would trust him further and then turn him.

"Don't be in such a hurry to be happy,"

Serena pulled her dual guns from her thighs, staring vigilantly at the corridor:

"During the process of your transformation, you remain an ordinary human, which also means we need to hold off the Werewolf Clan's attack here for at least 10 minutes."

In her view, even though she had turned Locke into a Vampire now, their odds of winning were still not high; it was just slightly better than before.

Furthermore, Locke now had a 10-minute transformation weakness period; he couldn't even run, so they could only hold out here for 10 minutes before making other plans.

Locke wasn't worried about this; he had already collected the three synthetic bloods for the Hybrid.

Even if he hadn't reached an agreement with Lucien, he wouldn't be afraid.

Possessing sharp weapons, he was naturally fearless.

But it couldn't be said he was entirely fearless; it was just that facing this group of Werewolf Clan members, who were clearly no match for him, Locke wouldn't feel afraid.

"I understand, you mean that after I transform into a Vampire, we will break out, right?"

"Correct, before that, let's hold our ground here; if we rush out, it would actually be disadvantageous for our defense." Serena nodded.

Locke deeply agreed with this.

Only this way was reasonable.

Like in the movie, Michael, an ordinary person with no power to truss a chicken, being able to escape from the heavy encirclement of the Werewolf Clan was unrealistic to begin with.

Besides the protagonist's halo, Locke couldn't think of any other reasonable explanation.

"They are coming."

Hearing the movement outside the door, Serena, with a grave expression, handed him a gun:

"You know how to shoot, right? If any of the Werewolf Clan rush in later, just shoot them with this gun. The bullets in my gun are silver-made, which cause higher damage to the Werewolf Clan."

"No need." Locke hurriedly waved his hand with a smile, while simultaneously pulling out a fully loaded revolver XVR460 from under his armpit,

and said in a joking tone:

"I have my own gun. Don't worry, Serena. My marksmanship is very accurate; for every one that comes, I will kill one."

Seeing this, Serena didn't insist further; she didn't believe Locke's claim about his accurate marksmanship and just assumed he was boasting.

But it didn't matter; she used her two specially made guns to hold this small room, and the Werewolf Clan shouldn't be able to break in for a short time.

At least that was the case before the bullets in her magazines were exhausted.

However, if the other side was willing to sacrifice countless lives of the Werewolf Clan to force their way in, there was nothing she could do.

At this moment, the air inside the entire room seemed to have frozen, becoming deathly silent.

Only the breathing sounds of Locke and Serena remained.

Serena held her breath, waiting for the Werewolf Clan's surprise attack.

While Locke focused a portion of his attention on the system panel, looking forward to the moment he would transform into a Vampire.

He had only seen this kind of legendary creature in games before; now that he was about to transform into a Vampire himself, he was also somewhat looking forward to it.

Outside the door, Lucien, Kruto, and several Werewolf Clan warriors were already prepared, just waiting for Locke to rush out according to the plan, so they could start going easy, cooperate with his performance, and let him break out.

"Boss, is it necessary for us to cooperate with his acting like this?"

Kruto, puzzled, poked his head with the barrel of his gun: "No matter how brilliant his brain is, he is just an ordinary human; how can he fight against Vampires?"

He couldn't understand why Lucien was suddenly willing to agree to cooperate with an ordinary human.

"He is not an ordinary human." Lucien looked at the closed door and said meaningfully: "He has already obtained my blood. After he infiltrates the inside of the Vampire group, he will find an opportunity to ingest it."

Kruto revealed a look of sudden realization: "You mean he will become one of us?"

"Yes, this is what I agreed upon with him." Lucien nodded, full of anticipation for Locke's transformation into a werewolf.

Someone like him, who has both strategy and a steady personality, is exactly what our Werewolf Clan lacks; this is also the reason why he agreed to exchange blood with Locke so easily.

"He and I have a common enemy. When we break out into a great war with the Vampires, he will definitely play an unexpected role."

"Since he is one of our own, then me losing to him is not exactly being wronged."

The hatred in Kruto's heart faded quite a bit.

If he were to lose to a werewolf, he could barely accept it.

Of course, this didn't mean he would admit defeat just like that.

Instead, he intended to take this opportunity to compete with Locke again during the pursuit later.

This time, no matter what, he had to dodge the other party's bullets.

Inside the room.

Seeing that the Werewolf Clan had been slow to make a move to attack, Serena couldn't help but feel a bit puzzled: "What's going on? Why are this group of Werewolf Clan members, who used to be fearless of death, not impulsive at all today?"
