14: Chapter 14 The Amazing Four-Card-Four-Standby

But this was only the beginning.

"In Nigeria, our base stations are a bit behind, and many places lack signal coverage. However, contrary to the base stations, we have many base station providers. When going out, one often needs multiple SIM cards."

Mr. Adebayo opened the back cover of the T1, revealing four SIM slots.

"Different carriers require different cards... Everyone knows how troublesome it is to switch cards. If you don't keep them safe, you'll lose them, which brings even more trouble.

I believe everyone here has experienced this problem."

Many people in the audience nodded involuntarily. Carrying seven or eight cards when going out was incredibly troublesome every time you had to deal with them. You had to be careful when using them, but even then, losing cards happened very easily.

"TECNO T1, the world's first Quad-SIM phone. We don't need to carry a pile of SIM cards around; four cards can be on standby simultaneously. Switching is convenient—you use whichever one you want.

This problem is completely solved!"

The audience exploded.

Quad-SIM—for a multi-carrier Africa, this was simply a revolutionary feature.

Many Africans working across different regions had their eyes light up instantly. If the photography features mentioned earlier didn't mean much to them, this was definitely a pleasant surprise... and a reason to buy Transsion.

"This is amazing! It can hold four cards, so I never have to switch cards again."

"The T100's experience was already great, but this brand-new T1 can actually hold four cards...

I believe this company is truly here to serve Africa. They are so thoughtful; they are really thinking about our problems."

"And there's the signal issue." Mr. Adebayo watched as more than half the audience became excited, and he continued to introduce other features.

"Besides that, the T1 also uses an enhanced antenna, with signal reception capability in remote areas 40% stronger than ordinary phones.

We tested it in the suburbs of Lagos and on farms in Abuja; when others had no signal, the T1 could still make calls."

Another round of excited applause followed. Being able to make calls on an Abuja farm was simply a miracle... that place was desolate and uninhabited, practically a green desert.

Many people in the audience cheered, but someone still shouted: "What about charging? We have power outages from time to time here... Without power, it's just a brick."

Mr. Adebayo smiled and pointed at the audience member: "That's a good question. The T1 is equipped with a 1600mAh super-large battery, which can last for a week under normal use.

If you want to make continuous calls, it can last for over 12 hours.

If your home really has no power, you can come to our Transsion flagship store; we have provided a professional charging room here for everyone.

It costs only 0.2 USD each time, the monthly cost of use will not exceed one dollar, and you can enjoy 10 free charging services.

This means that as long as there is a Transsion store, your phone will always have power."

A huge, bright red "FREE" appeared on the big screen. The entire venue erupted, and thousands of people shouted: "Transsion is a good company that serves the people of Africa!"

This title was certainly not an exaggeration. Each feature was more explosive than the last, and most importantly, every single one addressed their deepest pain points.

But then, worried voices emerged. Some audience members in the front rows asked anxiously: "Such a good phone must be very expensive, right?"

"Yeah, Quad-SIM, super-large battery, and it can take such beautiful photos... It's even better than Nokia's flagship models; I'm afraid it'll cost over 200 USD."

"Then only the rich will be able to afford it."

"You bunch of bumpkins, your perspective is so short-sighted. A flagship phone? My N96 cost me a full 1200 USD... Give it up, this phone isn't meant for you..."

"Huh?"

Mr. Adebayo heard these discussions, but he didn't stop them; in fact, quite a few people in the audience were his subordinates.

This was also a marketing method Li Qing had taught him...

After the venue quieted down a little, he put on a troubled look and then slowly began to speak: "I know what you are thinking.

With such powerful features, the price must be very high. To be honest, if we priced it in the traditional way, if this phone were handed to Nokia, they would sell it for at least 800 USD or even more."

Sighs of disappointment echoed throughout the audience, and some people on the edges were even preparing to leave...

"But..." Mr. Adebayo raised his voice. "Transsion is a different kind of company. We believe that technology should not just serve the rich. Even if you are an ordinary person, as long as you are willing, you can afford to buy it and use it.

So we have decided..."

The bystanders who were originally preparing to leave were instantly held back by this remark. Since they were already here, they might as well see it to the end. What if they could afford it?

Mr. Adebayo on stage continued to build suspense. A price page appeared on the screen, but the numbers were covered.

"The price of the TECNO T1 in Nigeria is..."

The animation slowly faded away, revealing a huge 100 USD!

Silence. An absolute silence lasting over ten seconds—for this event with ten thousand people, it was simply incredible. But the price of the TECNO T1 was equally incredible.

"At the same time, to thank everyone for your support, we will reduce the price by one dollar and add 10 free charging sessions.

So its final price is 99 USD with 20 free charging sessions."

Immediately after, the cheering spread like wildfire; even pedestrians a kilometer away could hear the roar of cheers.

"99 USD? My God."

"This is impossible. A second-hand Nokia N73 still costs 200 USD!"

"Quad-SIM, super-long battery life, and it takes such good photos... And it's only 99 USD. I can definitely afford this price."

After the excitement subsided a little, Mr. Adebayo signaled for everyone to be quiet.

"Yes, 99 USD. Because Transsion believes that every Nigerian deserves to use a good phone, but I know that 99 USD is still too expensive for some people."

He took a deep breath: "So we have another option..."

Another phone appeared on the screen, thinner, lighter, and with a simpler design.

"TECNO T80, Dual-SIM, 1000mAh large battery, three-day battery life.

The TECNO T80A version also has optimized photography; although the pixels are lower, its portraits are still clear.

Its price is..."

This time there was no suspense; it appeared very quickly.

"30 USD and 35 USD."

This time there was no silence; it was an explosive reaction.

30 USD—this was almost the cheapest entry-level phone on the market. Even many second-hand phones cost more than that, yet the Transsion T80 had Dual-SIM, optimized photography...

And Transsion's quality control and after-sales service!"
