29: Chapter 29 "Cooperation" with Waveguides

At the same time, in Factory Building No. 3 of Transsion's Bao'an No. 2 production base.

Wearing dustproof goggles and a dust-free suit, Wang Shangzhong looked at the equipment in front of him with a familiar smile.

This equipment, which had followed him, was now running at full speed in this brand-new factory.

That's right; the system had not only rewarded him with equipment but had once again acted as a human trafficker.

At the entrance, workers poured crates of discarded mobile phones into the feed hopper; at the exit, the disassembled parts slid out through different chutes: motherboards, screens, batteries, cameras, casings...

Even more miraculous was the transparent sealed chamber.

After the disassembled chips passed through it, the tiny scratches and oxidation layers on their surfaces disappeared at a speed visible to the naked eye, and the metal contacts became shiny and as good as new.

"General Manager Wang, the test report is out." A technician ran over, holding the report.

"The disassembly speed is 21,500 units per hour, meeting expected standards.

Chip repair is absolutely fine.

After being reinforced by the reinforcement center, the chips have seen a qualitative improvement. We sampled and tested some of them, and performance increased by an average of 21.3%, while power consumption dropped by 18.7%."

After repair, the chip's clock speed saw a slight increase, consistent with the gap in the manufacturing process. Considering individual variations, performance improved by at least 18%. For the same task, power consumption was nearly one-fifth lower—this was the strength of Xinghai Technology.

Shen Fei walked into the factory; he didn't look at the working production line, but instead asked Wang Shangzhong directly.

"Shangzhong, how many can this production line process a day?"

"The designed daily capacity is 480,000 units, and it should actually be able to reach 500,000." Wang Shangzhong knew these figures by heart; at the same time, due to the system, he possessed a natural loyalty toward Shen Fei.

"But the problem now is… there isn't enough inventory. The amount we can collect from Huaqiangbei each day is only around a hundred thousand units; the equipment can't run at full capacity at all. It's a complete waste."

"Hmm." Shen Fei nodded. "I'll find a way to handle this. Once the money is in place, the supply issue will be resolved quickly."

As if Shen Fei's words held some sort of magic, the phone rang just as he finished speaking.

Caller ID: General Manager Li Xiangdong.

The two companies were locked in a fierce battle, and this bastard surely didn't call with anything good in mind, but Shen Fei still answered the phone and pressed speaker.

"General Manager Shen, I heard you've been buying up large quantities of discarded mobile phones." General Manager Li Xiangdong's voice carried a hint of mockery and the smile of a superior.

"Bird's trade-in campaign brought in quite a lot of discarded mobile phones, and we've been worrying about where to dispose of them.

Boss Shen, would you like me to give you a special price? I really have to thank you for this; if it weren't for you, how could we have come up with such an effective promotional campaign?

Bird Mobile's market share has increased by a full 1.5%!

Since we don't know how to handle them anyway, we might as well sell them to you at a low price."

The factory went silent. Everyone looked at Shen Fei; this guy was too arrogant, and they absolutely had to beat him up.

Even Wang Shangzhong had already prepared a sack and a club.

But Shen Fei wasn't as angry as one might imagine. After all, even though the man's attitude was poor, he was indeed there to give him money—and a lot of it.

"If General Manager Li wants to sell, of course I'll buy. What's the price? Since Bird has earned so much, you shouldn't be quibbling over a few cents, right?"

"Oh, you're sensible. How about a 25% markup on the market price? That's fair enough, right? Consider the rest a tip for you."

"It's possible.

Processing such large quantities still costs a lot of money. You can keep these phones, General Manager Li; handle them yourself. If there's nothing else, I have to get back to work; after all, we're just a small company." Shen Fei hit back just as unceremoniously.

"Hey, General Manager Shen, don't refuse so quickly; I was just joking. How about this: 15 yuan per phone. That's basically the trade-in price.

At this price, we won't make much after deducting shipping costs."

"Deal."

Shen Fei agreed readily. As for the barbs in his words—well, it was his mouth, he could say whatever he wanted!

"But I need to inspect the goods. The casings can be broken, but the motherboards cannot be missing any components. Can you meet that standard?

Otherwise, we won't accept them."

"No problem." General Manager Li Xiangdong smiled even more happily. At this moment, he felt that maybe he didn't need to crush Transsion after all; it wasn't easy to find such a sensible underling.

Most importantly, it would save them a huge sum of money on disposing of the discarded mobile phones!

This thought flashed only for a moment; he was here today to mock them and make them recognize their place, not to recruit an underling...

"Guaranteed, no problem. Although we are enemies, I still have that much integrity." General Manager Li Xiangdong smiled even more happily.

"But General Manager Shen, there are over a million units. Can you handle that? Do you want to do it in batches?"

"No need, send them all at once. This isn't much," Shen Fei said. "The Bao'an xxx warehouse—you should know where it is. Cash on delivery. If you have more, just send them over directly; we can handle however many you have, as long as it's at this price."

After hanging up the phone, Wang Shangzhong offered a gentle reminder: "General Manager Shen, over a million discarded mobile phones at this price is fine, but it will cost over ten million. It's just that the funds in the account..."

"Money is not a problem." Shen Fei waved his hand. "The US stock market has started to rise recently, and I've cashed out a sum from Tianya; the funds will be in place soon."

In front of these absolutely loyal people, Shen Fei didn't bother to hide the relationship between the two at all.

"The point is, the chips salvaged from these million-plus mobile phones are enough for us to build over a million brand-new ones. The chip models might be a bit subpar, but as long as the functions are similar, they can be assembled together.

By utilizing these, our costs can be reduced by at least 60% to 80%."

"But Boss, that guy was obviously just here to annoy us." Wang Shangzhong muttered again. Back in the day, who would have dared to talk to him like that… they would have been beaten to death.

"I know." Shen Fei walked to the exit of the assembly line and picked up a brand-new motherboard. "But he doesn't know that what he's sending isn't garbage—it's gold."

"The performance of the repaired chips has improved significantly, and power consumption has decreased. This means our next batch of T1s will have their battery life extended by another 10%, and the system will run even more smoothly."

"Isn't Bird planning to release a competing product soon? Priced lower than ours… but who said I was a generous person?" Shen Fei's eyes gradually turned cold, and he wore that smile of a conspiracy successfully executed.

"When their product hits the market, we'll release the T1 Enhanced Version—better battery life, better performance, upgraded camera, and the price will still be 99 dollars.

As for the original T1, we'll lower the price by 5 dollars."

"Doesn't General Manager Li Xiangdong love to stir up trouble and play price wars?" Shen Fei placed the motherboard in his hand back onto the production line. "This time, I'll show him what a dimensional strike is—a dimensional strike from alien technology."

Everyone in the factory understood—this wasn't a passive reaction, but a well-laid trap.

General Manager Li Xiangdong thought he was causing trouble for Transsion, but in reality, he was delivering ammunition to his competitor—and shooting himself in the foot.

After returning to the company, Shen Fei immediately notified the marketing department: the recycling price for discarded mobile phones would increase by another 5% after Bird made its move, though there would be certain requirements regarding volume.

"Doesn't General Manager Li Xiangdong want to see who has more money? This time, Transsion will play along to the end and see who really loses money."

Elsewhere, in the mobile phone laboratory, Chen Hai also received a batch of reinforced MTK6225 chips...
