37: Chapter 37 Investing in Chrysanthemum Factory

By the time Shen Fei returned, Zhang Mingzhu was already holding a portion of char siu and a portion of stuffed tofu, eating them bite by bite; she looked completely different from how she had appeared during the day.

However, this side of her added a touch of cuteness...

"How is it? Is it good?"

"It's good."

However, after only a couple of bites, Zhang Mingzhu stuffed the char siu and stuffed tofu into Shen Fei's hands, while she took the shrimp dumplings and continued eating.

Afterward, the two strolled along the small street for quite a while, and it wasn't until Shen Fei's hands were completely full that they reluctantly returned to the car.

When the car stopped in front of the hotel again, Shen Fei took her hand once more and walked into the hotel lobby.

After seeing her to the elevator, Shen Fei pondered silently for a moment.

Spending time together tonight was more comfortable than he had expected; she could keep up with his conversation and offer her own insights.

More importantly, she possessed a sense of stability—not silence, but the composure that only someone with a good upbringing and a rich inner life would have.

She was indeed a suitable marriage partner.

But Shen Fei knew clearly that matters of the heart could not be measured solely by suitability. More importantly, having been reborn, he carried the mission of changing the destiny of China's technology, and the road ahead was destined not to be smooth.

If Zhang Mingzhu chose him, she would have to be prepared to face the bloody storms of the business world, as well as those invisible spears and hidden arrows.

His phone vibrated, interrupting his thoughts.

"I've reached my room. It's very late, so you should head home early too. Remember to get some rest."

"Okay!"

"Good night. Don't be so busy; work is never-ending. Let's go out for a stroll again after I finish the competition."

He looked up at the building.

Shen Fei pushed open the car door, and Zhang Mingzhu was waving goodbye to him.

Shen Fei waved back and left.

On the way, Shen Fei glanced at those messages on the screen again, and a warmth flashed through his heart once more.

She was indeed a thoughtful young lady from a good family.

Just as he arrived home, Shen Fei's phone rang again. He subconsciously thought it was a message from Zhang Mingzhu, but upon opening it, he saw it was a call from Huang Tianya.

"Boss, Mr. Ren has replied. He said he reviewed the materials and is very interested. He also specifically asked about the Taishan Project and said he is looking forward to next week's negotiations. It's basically set; now it's just a matter of discussing the price."

"Understood. Help me prepare a more detailed technical document, focusing on the synergistic effects between Transsion and Huawei. We will exchange our ground promotion, marketing capabilities, and product design skills for their technical patents. Most importantly, we are using capital to buy their time..."

After hanging up the phone, Shen Fei parked the car and pushed open the front door.

This time, Zhang Mingzhu's message arrived right on time: "Did you get home safely?"

"I've arrived home!"

"Then I can sleep peacefully. Good night. I was very happy today."

...

Monday at 9:50 AM, at the Huawei headquarters in Shenzhen.

Accompanied by Huang Tianya, Shen Fei walked into the building. Although the receptionist was a bit surprised, after verifying their identities, a female secretary in her thirties led them toward the elevator.

"Mr. Ren is waiting for you in the top-floor office."

The secretary's tone was respectful, but her eyes still held a trace of curiosity. Generally, only leaders or executives of multinational giants were granted personal audiences with Mr. Ren; such a young visitor was rare.

Most importantly, Transsion Technology did not seem to be a large enterprise, and not long ago, it had even faced the risk of bankruptcy.

The elevator reached the floor quickly. The office door was open, and Mr. Ren was sitting at his desk, on a call.

Hearing footsteps, he turned around and said to the other end of the line: "Report back later. I am considering whether or not to sell the terminal department?" He then hung up the phone.

In fact, Big Mouth Yu, who was working hard in Europe, was full of question marks. What! Didn't you say you weren't selling it anymore? How is this... again...

He had worked so hard to secure this opportunity to report the news, yet before he could even begin, he was told such bad news.

"Mr. Ren, this is Mr. Shen from Transsion Technology," the secretary introduced.

"Mr. Ren, it's an honor to meet you," Shen Fei said, stepping forward to shake hands.

Mr. Ren's grip was firm, not at all like someone in his sixties. He looked younger than his actual age, his hair was neatly combed, and he was wearing a simple white shirt and dark trousers.

"Mr. Shen, you are even younger than I imagined." Mr. Ren gestured for them to sit. "What would you like to drink? Tea or coffee?"

"Tea will be fine."

During the gap while the secretary prepared the tea, Mr. Ren scrutinized Shen Fei carefully. He truly couldn't believe that the person before him could really come up with over 2 billion USD and...

Ever since he learned that this emerging capital was backed by the owner of Transsion Technology, he had used his connections to carefully investigate Shen Fei's past.

It was unremarkable!

Although he was a bit of a slacker, he didn't even rank among the arrogant and domineering second-generation rich kids. Yet, this very person had leveraged others' crises to become a tycoon.

Huawei's investigation team had also found some public data: this investment bank called Huaxin Investment had actually invested in NVIDIA, publicly holding a 7.98% stake.

Besides that, there were a series of other operations; for instance, he held certain stakes in companies like Apple, Microsoft, and Tesla. He was very smart—he didn't list them publicly, but his shareholdings were certainly not low...

"Mr. Ren, I wonder if you've seen anything in me?"

"Mystery!" After saying this, Mr. Ren revealed his signature smile, giving off a sense of approachability.

"It was just making a little money by taking advantage of others' crises and relying on luck," Shen Fei said casually.

"That's no ordinary luck. To be frank, we have investigated, and the experiences of Transsion and Mr. Shen can be called a miracle. So I am also very curious: why, when your company is doing so well operating in Africa, do you want to spend over 2 billion USD to purchase shares of our Huawei terminal department?"

After probing a little, Mr. Ren directly asked the question he cared about most.

Shen Fei took the teacup handed to him by the secretary and did not beat around the bush: "Because of positioning. Internally, we view Africa merely as a lucrative source of easy profit; our future will always be in the Chinese and European markets. And Huawei has a very promising future in China and even the whole world. This is a complementary deal, and it is an investment that will not lose money."

"Oh, Mr. Shen is so optimistic about our future." Mr. Ren picked up his teacup, his interest continuing to grow. "Even we internally don't have such grand goals. I wonder if Mr. Shen could elaborate?"

"Huawei's distribution mechanism, as it stands, proves that it has infinite potential and can better unleash scientific research capabilities, allowing us to achieve complementary advantages."

Speaking of this, Mr. Ren smiled again, but soon he shook his head.

The distribution mechanism was merely a product of a special period; even Mr. Ren himself dared not confirm whether this choice was right or wrong. After all, among private enterprises, he was unique.

"This mechanism is not the optimal choice; it was merely a self-rescue measure we took during a helpless period. If we hadn't done it this way, we would have headed toward bankruptcy."

"But the era has already proven that this choice was the right one..."
