10: Chapter 10 Sleepwalking Girl
Back in his room, Su Bai did his routine workout.
As usual, it was five hundred push-ups and a thousand Squats.
This time, he also added five hundred sit-ups.
Sweat flowed along the lines of his muscles as he felt his body gradually heat up.
After finishing his workout at 10:30 PM, Su Bai took a change of clothes and knocked on Luo Ying's door.
Luo Ying didn't seem to be asleep yet; soft music drifted from her room.
The door opened quickly, revealing Luo Ying in a loose-fitting home T-shirt and shorts, her hair still wet.
"Borrowing the bathroom again?" She stepped aside, looking somewhat resigned.
"Yeah, sorry for disturbing you, Sister." Su Bai said obediently.
"Go ahead."
Luo Ying nodded without asking more.
The scent of body wash and lingering steam still filled the bathroom.
On the drying rack, there was also a pair of triangular cotton panties with a little bear print.
Uh...
He certainly wasn't thirsty enough to need to wrap himself in that thing; he gave it a glance and looked away.
He then turned on the shower, letting the warm stream wash over his body.
He closed his eyes comfortably.
Meanwhile, in the bedroom, Luo Ying kept her back to the bathroom glass, not daring to look.
After seeing that scene last night, even her dreams had become a bit strange.
It caused her to wake up in the morning...
???!!!
She suddenly realized that her washed panties were still hanging in the bathroom!
So embarrassing!!
After showering, Su Bai walked out of the bathroom, drying his hair with a towel.
Luo Ying was leaning against the headboard reading; when she saw him come out, she gave him a seemingly casual glance before quickly looking away.
"All done?"
"Yeah, thanks, Sister." Su Bai held his clothes. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
Not sure if it was just his imagination, Su Bai felt Luo Ying's face looked flushed; he wondered if she had a fever.
...
In the early hours of the morning, the entire apartment fell into silence.
Su Bai had always been a light sleeper, so when a faint sound came from the living room, he opened his eyes almost instantly.
First was the sound of the refrigerator door opening, followed by a rustling, fumbling sound.
Su Bai glanced at his phone screen—3:17 AM.
He frowned. Who would be in the kitchen this late?
Getting up quietly, Su Bai threw on a T-shirt and noiselessly opened his door.
No lights were on in the living room; there was only the cold glow from the open refrigerator and its internal light.
A figure stood before the fridge.
It was Chu Yi.
She was wearing a pink silk camisole nightgown, the thin fabric nearly translucent under the cold light of the fridge.
What stunned Su Bai even more was that she clearly wasn't wearing a bra; the neckline of her nightgown hung low, and he could see a faint outline of her curves from the side.
But that wasn't the point.
The point was, she freaking had her eyes closed!
Chu Yi stood there stiffly in front of the fridge, eyes shut tight, one hand fumbling unconsciously inside while she mumbled something incoherently.
"Why am I hungry again? Where are the snacks..."
Su Bai's first reaction was... horror!
In the middle of the night, a girl standing before a fridge with her eyes closed—the scene was truly eerie!
For a split second, he even thought of scenes from horror movies.
"Sister Chu Yi?"
He called out tentatively, his voice low.
No reaction.
"Sister Chu Yi?!" He called again, raising his voice slightly.
Still no reaction.
Chu Yi's hand was still fumbling in the fridge; she took out a yogurt and put it back, then took out an apple, sniffed it, and put it back as well.
Su Bai suddenly realized—
She was sleepwalking!
He had heard of somnambulism but had never seen it with his own eyes.
It was said that sleepwalkers are in a deep sleep and shouldn't be woken suddenly, as it could cause psychological shock.
He stood rooted to the spot, not daring to make a move.
The living room was terrifyingly quiet, save for the low hum of the refrigerator compressor and the rustling of plastic bags as Chu Yi fumbled.
Chu Yi mumbled again; this time, Su Bai heard clearly: "Where's the big lobster..."
Her voice had that specific slurred quality of sleep, and combined with her standing there with closed eyes, it was both eerie and strangely comical.
After about two minutes, Chu Yi seemingly failed to find what she wanted and slowly closed the fridge door.
Losing the light source, the living room plunged back into darkness, save for a bit of moonlight filtering through the window.
Chu Yi turned around and, with her eyes closed, swayed unsteadily toward the rooms.
Su Bai breathed a sigh of relief, planning to wait for her to return to her room before sneaking back to his own. But just then, something unexpected happened.
Chu Yi tripped over something, stumbled, and pitched forward onto the floor.
"Ah?"
Su Bai instinctively wanted to step forward to help her, but he forced himself to hold back.
Chu Yi didn't fall hard; she lay on the floor, motionless.
Su Bai watched tensely, thinking she had woken up.
But a few seconds later, she pushed herself up with her hands and stood up unsteadily.
Then, she changed direction.
Not toward her and Chu Xiang's room, but... toward Su Bai's room!
Su Bai's heart skipped a beat.
He quickly jogged back to his doorway, wanting to get inside and close the door before she arrived.
But despite her eyes being closed, Chu Yi wasn't slow; she reached the door almost at the same time as him.
Just as Su Bai reached out to close the door, Chu Yi walked straight in and bumped right into his arms.
"Mmph..."
Su Bai was knocked back half a step, and Chu Yi took the opportunity to hug him.
Her arms wrapped around Su Bai's waist, her face pressed against his bare abdomen.
In his haste earlier, Su Bai had only thrown on a T-shirt and was only wearing underwear on his lower half, but the T-shirt had been hitched up slightly during the movement.
"Hehe..."
Chu Yi let out a silly giggle, her eyes closed, as one hand actually started feeling Su Bai's abdomen.
"Such firm abs..."
Su Bai froze completely.
Chu Yi's hand fumbled over his abdomen, her fingertips tracing the definition of his muscles.
Her face was very close, her warm breath coming through the thin fabric of his T-shirt.
What was even more lethal was that one strap of her silk nightgown had slipped off during the hug; from Su Bai's downward perspective, he could see almost the entire view.
"Sister Chu Yi, wake up."
Su Bai lowered his voice, trying to wake her without being too loud.
Chu Yi didn't react at all; instead, she hugged him tighter, practically hanging off him.
Her body was soft and warm, with the peculiar relaxation of someone in deep sleep.
Su Bai took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
He remembered the way to deal with sleepwalking: don't wake them suddenly, but try to gently guide them back to bed.
"Chu Yi, go back to your room and sleep." He said in a steady voice, trying to guide her to turn around.
Chu Yi mumbled something and didn't move.
Su Bai carefully pried her hands from his waist, wanting to turn and guide her.
But as if sensing she was losing her body pillow, Chu Yi hugged him even tighter, pressing her whole body against him.
This was even worse.
But now wasn't the time to take advantage.
Chu Yi was sleepwalking; she had no idea what she was doing.
"Sister Chu Yi, be good, go back to your own room." Su Bai continued to try, his voice as gentle as possible.
Chu Yi finally reacted. She lifted her head, eyes still closed, and mumbled, "Room... bed..."
"Right, back to your bed."
Su Bai slowly guided her to turn around, one hand lightly supporting her shoulder.
Chu Yi turned obediently, but stopped after two steps as if she were lost.
Su Bai sighed; he could only continue to guide her.
He carefully supported her, walking step by step toward Chu Yi and Chu Xiang's room.
The door wasn't locked; it opened with a gentle push.
The room was very dark; Chu Xiang was fast asleep on the bed, wearing white cotton underwear, her breathing steady.
Su Bai didn't dare look around; he helped Chu Yi to the bedside and whispered, "Lie down."
Chu Yi seemed to understand the command; she fumbled her way onto the bed and crawled under the covers.
She didn't open her eyes through the entire process; once she lay down, she quickly fell back into a deep sleep, her breathing becoming even and long.
Su Bai stood by the bed, looking at the twin sisters.
Chu Xiang slept on the side against the wall, while Chu Yi slept on the outer side.
Moonlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, casting soft light and shadows on their faces.
Such a beautiful sight...
*Hiss—*
I can't keep looking!
Su Bai turned around decisively!
If I keep looking, I'm afraid there will be danger!
My Dao Heart is about to shatter!
He quietly exited the room and closed the door.
