36: Chapter 36: Let's look at it from a different perspective
Su Bai looked at the message and thought for a moment.
Since exams were over and winter break started tomorrow, going back a bit later was fine. It would save him from running into Luo Ying.
Otherwise, what if she brought up that fishnet stockings incident...
So, he typed a reply:
[What time?]
The other party replied instantly:
[It starts at seven and ends around nine. I'd like to treat you to a late-night snack afterward, if that's alright?]
Su Bai replied:
[Mm.]
Su Bai put his phone back in his pocket.
Teacher Song Jiang walked into the classroom at that moment.
"Students, please quiet down."
He clapped his hands, waiting for the noise in the classroom to subside a little.
"I have a few announcements to make."
Everyone quieted down and looked at him.
"First, winter break officially starts tomorrow and ends on the sixteenth day of the first lunar month."
A cheer erupted in the classroom!
"Second, in three days, return to school at exactly eight in the morning to collect your report cards and attend the parent-teacher meeting."
The cheers instantly turned into groans.
"Remember to inform your parents when you go home so they can arrange their schedules in advance."
The groans grew even louder.
"A parent-teacher meeting?! No way!"
"I'm doomed. I totally messed up my exams this time..."
"If my mom finds out my grades, I won't be allowed to step out of the house for the entire winter break..."
"..."
Teacher Song Jiang tapped the lectern.
"Alright, class. Pack up your things and you may leave. Wish you all a happy winter break."
After speaking, he tucked his folder under his arm and left the classroom.
The classroom became noisy once again.
Su Bai packed up his things and walked out of the school gates with his backpack.
By the time he stepped out of the school gates, the sky had completely darkened.
The streetlights flickered on, casting a dim yellow glow on the streets where the snow had not yet melted.
Su Bai hailed a cab and went straight to the venue of the fan meeting.
Forty minutes later, the car pulled up in front of an exhibition center.
Su Bai got out of the car and saw a long queue already forming at the entrance.
It was entirely made up of young people, mostly guys, but with quite a few girls as well.
Some held support placards, some wore T-shirts printed with Yin Suwan's face, and others were distributing glow sticks and hand banners.
Several staff members stood at the entrance, checking tickets for entry.
Su Bai walked over.
"Sir, please show your ticket," a staff member said politely.
Su Bai paused.
A ticket?
Oh, right!
He hadn't thought about the ticket.
Yin Suwan had only asked him to come, but she hadn't mentioned anything about a ticket.
He hesitated, wondering if he should send Yin Suwan a message to have her come out and pick him up.
Just then, a familiar voice came from behind him.
"Su Bai!"
Su Bai turned around and saw Liu Hao running toward him.
Liu Hao was wearing his most prized jacket, which reportedly cost him two months of living expenses.
His hair was styled with hair gel, gleaming under the streetlights.
He was clutching an entry ticket tightly in his hand, his face filled with pleasant surprise.
"Why are you here too?!" Liu Hao said as he ran up to him.
"Well... I had nothing else to do, so I came to check it out," Su Bai said.
Liu Hao was taken aback, then wore an expression that all men understood.
"Alright, alright, I get it. That's perfect, I have a ticket! One ticket can bring in one extra person, let's go in together!"
Looking at his sincere face, Su Bai swallowed back the rejection on the tip of his tongue.
"Then... thanks.
"Don't mention it!" Liu Hao pulled him toward the entrance. "Let's go, let's go, it's about to start!"
Tickets checked, they entered the venue.
The venue was huge, with thousands of seats, more than half of which were already occupied.
The stage was right in the center, surrounded by massive LED screens that were playing dance videos of Yin Suwan.
Liu Hao led Su Bai toward the back, stopping at one of the very last rows.
"We'll sit here," he said, looking a bit self-conscious,
"My ticket is a lower tier, so I can only sit in the back."
Su Bai looked around.
This spot was indeed very far back, at least a hundred meters away from the stage.
From this angle, they could only really watch from the big screens.
Su Bai pulled out his phone and saw a message Yin Suwan had just sent:
[Boss, I've reserved a seat for you right in the middle of the front row. You can just come straight over.]
Liu Hao was still looking around excitedly:
"Wow, there are so many people! I heard Su Su is going to perform a new dance tonight! I've been looking forward to this for so long!"
Su Bai looked at him, finding it rather amusing.
He patted Liu Hao on the shoulder.
"This spot is both off to the side and cramped. It's boring," he said,
"Come on, I'll take you to the front."
Liu Hao froze for a moment and quickly shook his head.
"The front? The front is all VIP area. The tickets sold out long ago, and I heard scalper prices have skyrocketed to over ten thousand..."
"Just follow me."
Su Bai stood up, his long legs taking wide strides as he walked toward the front.
Liu Hao hesitated for a moment but followed anyway.
The two of them passed row after row of seats, getting closer and closer to the front.
The surrounding audience members were dressed increasingly elegantly, and the support placards they held were also becoming more high-end.
Soon, Su Bai reached the front row and stopped in front of some empty seats.
Liu Hao followed behind him, looking at the stage less than five meters away, his mouth gaping open in an 'O' shape.
"T-this is the front row?"
His voice cracked.
"This must be the VIP of VIPs?!"
Su Bai sat down in the middle empty seat.
Liu Hao stood there dazed.
"Aren't these seats taken? Won't we get kicked out if we sit here?"
Su Bai looked at him, suddenly wanting to tease him.
"Possibly."
He said with a straight face.
"If the owners show up later and try to beat us up, we'll just have to see which of us runs faster."
Liu Hao's face instantly went pale.
"Wait, Su Bai, don't joke around..."
"Stop talking nonsense."
Su Bai pointed to the empty seat next to him.
"Are you sitting or not? If not, go back. It's just a beating anyway."
Liu Hao's face was completely white.
"T-then I'd better go back..."
He turned around, about to leave.
Just then, the lights on the stage suddenly dimmed.
Music began to play.
The entire venue erupted!
Liu Hao froze in his tracks.
He turned back and looked at the stage—
The spotlights shone down as a woman slowly rose from the center of the stage.
She wore a sequined, tight-fitting dress, with a hemline so short it barely covered ten centimeters below her thighs.
Her slender legs were completely exposed, and she wore a pair of stiletto high heels.
Her hair was styled in large waves, cascading over her shoulders and swaying gently with the music.
Yin Suwan made her entrance!
Liu Hao's eyes went completely wide.
His legs refused to move.
He stood there in a daze, staring at the person on stage with his mouth slightly open, practically drooling.
Su Bai rolled his eyes and pushed him down into his seat.
"Sit down properly."
Liu Hao sat down mechanically, his eyes still glued to the stage, motionless.
Yin Suwan began to dance.
Her dance moves were as captivating as ever, every hip sway and head shake hitting the beat with absolute precision.
Her gaze was sometimes dreamy, sometimes seductive, sending waves of screams through the crowd whenever it swept across the audience.
Halfway through the dance, her eyes fell upon the front row.
They landed on Su Bai.
Her eyes lit up.
She instinctively took a step forward, wanting to walk over—
Su Bai frowned slightly.
Yin Suwan's movement paused.
She understood instantly.
Now was not the time; her boss didn't like public exposure.
She withdrew her gaze and continued dancing as if nothing had happened.
But her dancing seemed even more passionate than before.
The allure in her eyes grew increasingly breathtaking.
