25: Chapter 25, Examination Room 20, Fishnet Stockings
The next morning, Su Bai went for his usual morning run, bought breakfast, and borrowed Luo Ying's bathroom to shower.
When he was leaving, Luo Ying leaned against the doorframe with messy hair, looking at him with a complex expression.
"Exam today?"
"Yeah."
Su Bai nodded. He had mentioned it to the sisters while eating hot pot yesterday.
"Good luck," Luo Ying said, groggily raising a small fist.
"Thanks."
Su Bai smiled.
He then said goodbye to Luo Ying, went downstairs, and headed toward the subway station.
On the first day of final exams, the weather was gloomy, the clouds hanging low as if it were about to snow.
Su Bai zipped his school uniform jacket all the way up, shoved his hands into his pockets, and followed the flow of people into the school gate.
He arrived a bit earlier than usual today, and when he reached the classroom, there weren't many people inside.
However, when he walked into the classroom, Li Longyu was already sitting at her seat.
She was looking down at a book, her ponytail draped over her shoulder, just like yesterday.
Su Bai sat down next to her and said, "Morning," but she still ignored him.
Su Bai shrugged, not bothering to provoke her.
He took out his Chinese textbook, flipped to the passages that needed to be memorized, and began reading silently.
Liu Hao turned around from the front seat and lowered his voice: "You two still haven't made up?"
"Stop gossiping," Su Bai said irritably.
Why was this kid so interested in his business?
"Women are so hard to understand."
Liu Hao adjusted his glasses with a profound look, acting like a veteran of the dating scene,
"But let me tell you, at times like this, the colder she acts, the more proactive you should be. The 'hot treatment' is the way to go."
Su Bai glanced at him: "Do you have experience?"
"Uh... theoretical experience."
Liu Hao shrank his neck: "Learned it from watching TV dramas."
Su Bai smiled and didn't say anything.
Bullshit experience, that's clearly just being a total simp!
He would never be a simp in this life!
Suddenly, someone tapped him on the shoulder from behind.
"Su Bai!"
He turned around and saw Mu Qing standing behind him, holding a file bag with a bright smile on her face.
Today, she had her hair tied in a high ponytail, revealing her smooth forehead.
Her school uniform was neat, with a standard bow tied at the collar; she was a completely different person from the girl in the toilet stall yesterday who had blushed to the roots of her ears.
It's just that... she seemed a bit lethargic, clearly having not slept well last night.
As if she had done something...
"Play... Class Monitor." A playful smile appeared on Su Bai's lips involuntarily.
"What did you say?!" Mu Qing gritted her teeth.
"Hey, how many did you watch last night?" Su Bai leaned closer to her and whispered.
Mu Qing froze for a moment, then her little face instantly turned red. She reached out and gave him a light, non-threatening hit,
"Are you trying to die?!"
Su Bai smiled mockingly; it seemed he hadn't guessed wrong.
This "Little Flirty Qing" must have been up to no good last night!
Mu Qing's cheeks were burning, and she changed the subject:
"By the way, I just looked at the exam hall schedule. Are you in the Class 20 exam hall?"
"Yeah, I just transferred here and haven't taken the monthly exams, so by the rules, I'm ranked last."
The exam halls at Jingzhou Academy are assigned based on grades.
The top students are in Class 1 exam hall, and the worst are in Class 20.
Because he was a transfer student, he was assigned to Class 20.
Hearing this, Mu Qing's expression became somewhat subtle.
She opened her mouth as if she wanted to say something, but in the end, she just patted his shoulder:
"Good luck."
The tone carried a subtle hint of sympathy.
Before Su Bai could react, Mu Qing had already turned and left.
Before leaving, she glanced in Li Longyu's direction.
Li Longyu was still looking down at her book, as if she hadn't heard anything.
Mu Qing raised an eyebrow, said nothing, and returned to her own seat.
Liu Hao turned around again and whispered:
"Why is Mu Qing so enthusiastic today?"
"Go ask her."
"Have you two been... lately?" Liu Hao made a meaningful expression.
"Get lost."
"Fine."
Liu Hao shrugged,
"But be careful, that place, the Class 20 exam hall..."
He paused, his expression becoming serious.
"What's wrong?"
Liu Hao lowered his voice and said mysteriously:
"It's full of monsters and demons in there. All kinds of people."
"What kind of people?"
"You'll know when you get there."
Liu Hao gave him a meaningful look,
"Anyway, good luck to you."
Su Bai frowned and didn't ask further.
At 8:30 in the morning, the first exam, Chinese, began.
Su Bai took his stationery bag, walked through the long corridor, and arrived at the Class 20 exam hall at the far east end of the teaching building.
The door was closed.
But the commotion coming from inside could be heard clearly through the door.
Someone was shouting, someone was laughing, and there was the jarring sound of desks and chairs colliding.
Su Bai pushed the door open.
The scene in the classroom made him stop in his tracks.
Is this even an exam hall?
This is a damn battlefield!
The desks and chairs in the last few rows had been pushed to the side, clearing out an area.
Two boys were fighting—actually fighting, the kind where fists hit flesh!
A tall, skinny boy with dyed yellow hair and a short boy with dyed red hair were brawling, knocking over several desks, with a circle of people cheering them on.
"Hit him! Hit him!"
"Go on! Punch him in the face!"
"Yellow Hair, weren't you pretty wild yesterday? Why are you wimping out today!"
The classroom was filled with the smell of sweat and cheap cigarettes.
In the middle of the classroom, a girl was sitting on a desk with her legs crossed, watching this farce with great interest.
She was wearing a black cropped down jacket, left open, with a midriff-baring tight T-shirt underneath, the neckline cut very low.
On her lower body was a miniskirt. In the middle of winter, a miniskirt and black fishnet stockings that extended up above her knees.
On her feet, she wore Doc Martens, with a string of metal chains hanging from the boots.
Her hair was dyed light brown, styled in large waves, and draped over her shoulders. She wore makeup, with her eyeliner drawn high, and her lips were a bright red.
She was very pretty.
It was the kind of beauty that was aggressive, like a little wild cat baring its fangs and brandishing its claws.
She was watching the group of young punks fighting with great interest, as if she were enjoying a free performance.
"Fight! Fight!" She clapped her hands, her voice crisp,
"Harder! Don't be a wimp!"
The group of young punks fought even harder.
The girl looked down at the fishnet stockings on her legs, extended her slender fingers, and gently flicked the edge of the stocking.
A playful smile tugged at the corners of her mouth,
"Whoever wins—"
She drew out her voice, as if announcing some major prize,
"The pair of stockings on my legs goes to whoever wins!"
"Wahaha!"
The young punks went completely crazy.
Su Bai stood at the doorway, watching this scene expressionlessly.
Completely speechless.
Is this still a school?!
He suddenly understood Liu Hao's meaningful expression.
He took a deep breath, lowered his head, and walked around the crowd toward his seat.
His seat was in the last row by the window, in the very corner.
He needed to cross the entire classroom, passing by the ongoing fight.
He tried to stay as close to the wall as possible.
But just as he walked halfway, a figure suddenly flew toward him.
It was the yellow-haired guy!
He had been punched in the face by the red-haired guy, stumbling backward, and crashed straight into Su Bai!
Su Bai dodged to the side. The yellow-haired guy crashed into the desk next to him, bounced off, and fell to the floor.
"Ouch—" The yellow-haired guy clutched his waist and screamed.
Then he looked up, saw Su Bai's unfamiliar face, and couldn't help but be stunned.
"Who the fuck are you?"
