128: Chapter 127 The girl you just hit is my friend.
Inside the private room, Li Longyu's voice was cold.
"Sir, I am just a server; I do not drink with guests."
"What the hell are you pretending for?"
The man's voice grew louder,
"Isn't the reason you came here to make money? It's not like I'm not paying you to drink with me!"
Su Bai stopped and stood at the doorway, glancing inside.
There were seven or eight people sitting in the private room, all middle-aged men in suits and ties, looking like some kind of business dinner.
Li Longyu stood by the table, still holding a tray, her expression icy.
Sitting in the main seat was The Fat Man, bald, his face as red as a boiled shrimp. He reached out, grabbed Li Longyu's wrist, and pulled hard.
Li Longyu was pulled forward and stumbled; the tray fell to the floor, spilling dishes everywhere.
She struggled, but couldn't break free.
"Let go." Her voice was very cold.
The Fat Man didn't let go.
He laughed, revealing a mouthful of teeth stained yellow by smoke,
"Quite the temper you have. I like that." He gave a strong tug, pulling Li Longyu to his side, and reached out with his other hand to wrap around her waist.
Li Longyu steeled herself, grabbed a wine bottle from the table, and slammed it onto his head!
"Bang!" The wine bottle shattered.
Red wine flowed down from The Fat Man's head, mixed with blood, streaming down his cheeks.
The room went silent for a moment.
Immediately after, The Fat Man clutched his head, stunned for two seconds, then flew into a rage and slapped Li Longyu across the face!
"Slap!!" "You little slut! You're looking for death!"
Li Longyu was knocked to the side, hitting the table.
The Fat Man stood up, his chair flipping backward and crashing to the floor.
"Damn it! Catch her for me!" he roared, "I'm going to teach her a good lesson!"
Two burly men in black suits stood up from the corner of the room and walked toward Li Longyu.
Li Longyu climbed up from the table, blood at the corner of her mouth, her hair disheveled, and her wooden hairpin had fallen to the floor.
She didn't cry or scream; she turned and ran!
She ran out of the room and into the hallway.
The hallway was long, the lighting dim and yellow, with closed doors on both sides.
She didn't know where to run, only that she had to keep moving forward.
After running a few steps, she saw someone.
Su Bai stood in the center of the hallway, hands in his pockets, looking at her indifferently.
Li Longyu's pace slowed, and then she stopped.
She stood there, a few meters away, panting heavily as she looked at Su Bai.
Her hair was disheveled, there was a slap mark on her face, blood at the corner of her mouth, and the collar of her Hanfu was crooked, revealing a bit of her collarbone.
The footsteps behind her were getting closer.
The two burly men in black caught up; seeing Li Longyu stop, they quickened their pace and rushed over.
Li Longyu gritted her teeth hard and gripped the hairpin from her hair in her hand, seemingly prepared for a desperate fight.
"Get behind me."
Su Bai stepped forward, blocking the path in front of Li Longyu.
The first burly man rushed over and reached out to push him.
Su Bai sidestepped, then punched him in the face!
"Bang!" This blow was fast and heavy!
The sound of bone colliding echoed in the hallway!
The burly man fell backward, hit the wall, and slid down, leaving a streak of blood.
The second burly man was stunned, "Who are you! Daring to meddle, I'll cripple you!"
He pulled a telescopic baton from his waist, extended it, and swung it straight down at Su Bai!
Su Bai didn't retreat but stepped forward, closing the distance. He grabbed the man's wrist holding the baton with his left hand, twisted it, and slammed his right elbow into the man's temple!
The burly man's eyes rolled back, his body went limp, and he collapsed to the ground. The baton slid from his hand, rolled twice on the floor, and stopped at the door of a private room.
The hallway fell silent. Only the sound of the guzheng in the distance continued to play "Ambush from Ten Sides." Fitting!
Su Bai took a thousand yuan from his wallet and placed it in the lap of the young woman playing the guzheng. A reward!
Afterward, Su Bai turned around and came to Li Longyu's side.
Li Longyu stood there, her eyes red, but she didn't shed any tears.
Su Bai took a pack of tissues from his pocket and handed them to her.
Li Longyu took them, pulled out one, and wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth. Her hand was shaking, but her movements were steady.
After wiping, she clenched the tissue in her palm, crumpling it into a ball.
"Th-thank you, classmate Su." Her voice was a bit hoarse.
Su Bai looked at her and asked, "Why are you here?"
Li Longyu lowered her head, looking at the ball of tissue in her hand, "Working."
She said, "I⦠I had nothing to do during the winter break, so I found a part-time job."
Su Bai remembered that her family situation was quite good, but he had never asked what her family did. Since she didn't say, it wasn't appropriate for him to ask.
From the private room came The Fat Man's roar: "Where are they? Did you catch her?"
Su Bai glanced at the room, then looked at Li Longyu, "You go; I'll handle this."
Li Longyu raised her head. Her eyes were very red, but her expression wasn't as cold anymore. She said worriedly, "By yourself? No! They aren't good people."
Su Bai shook his head, "That's because you don't know your desk mate's strength."
He turned and walked toward the private room, pushed the door open, and walked in.
Li Longyu stood in the hallway, looking at the closed door. She didn't leave immediately but kept staring at the private room, a conflicted look shimmering in her eyes.
When Su Bai entered the room, The Fat Man was sitting on a chair, holding a towel over his bleeding forehead.
He was on the phone, his voice loud, echoing in the empty room.
"Where the hell are you guys? Do you know I've been bullied? You two pieces of trash! What the hell do I pay you for!"
He hung up the phone and slammed it onto the table with a "bang," making the chopsticks jump.
He picked up his wine glass and took a large gulp, the wine spilling from the corner of his mouth and running down his chin onto his shirt. He wiped it with the back of his hand.
Su Bai walked in and sat down across from him.
The Fat Man looked up, squinting at him. His eyes were cloudy and bloodshot, the flesh on his face sagging, and his chin was layered with fat.
"Who the hell are you?" His voice was rough and hoarse, full of impatience.
Su Bai took a business card from his pocket and tossed it onto the table.
The card was small and white, with only a name and a phone number; no title, no company name, no logo.
It landed on the table, spun around, and stopped in front of The Fat Man.
"My name is Su Bai." Su Bai leaned back in his chair, crossing one leg over the other, "The girl you just hit is my friend."
The Fat Man looked down at the business card, then back up at Su Bai.
He scanned Su Bai from head to toe; young, dressed plainly, didn't look like someone with any background. Except for being handsome, he seemed useless.
He snorted and flicked the business card aside, as if swatting away a fly.
"Do I care what your name is?" He picked up his wine glass and took another sip, "Does it have anything to do with me? Want to stand up for that broad, huh? Do you have the strength for that?"
He slammed the wine glass onto the table, the wine splashing out onto the tablecloth, spreading a dark stain.
He shouted toward the door, his voice so loud the whole room shook. "Old Zhang! Old Li! Come over here and throw this pretty boy out!"
No one answered. He waited two seconds, shouted again, and still no one answered.
His expression changed. Damn! What's going on?!"
