21: Chapter 21 The Sound of the Playground Toilet

Li Longyu didn't pay any attention to him all day today.

There were four classes in the morning: Mathematics, Chinese, English, and Physics.

She kept her eyes fixed forward the entire time, taking notes and answering questions, without any interaction with the air beside her.

Su Bai's eraser fell to the floor and rolled to her feet, but she acted as if she hadn't seen it, letting the little white square lie there.

Su Bai raised an eyebrow and bent down to pick it up himself.

He didn't go out of his way to provoke her.

A man, no matter the time, must never be a simp!!

He had lived for over thirty years in his previous life and eighteen years in this one; he understood at least that much.

During the break, Liu Hao turned around and whispered, "How is it? I wasn't wrong before, right? Being desk-mates with Li Longyu is no easy task."

"It's alright," Su Bai replied indifferently.

"Then why is she..."

Liu Hao gestured with his eyes toward Li Longyu.

"Stop overthinking it."

Su Bai had no desire to continue chatting with him and opened the textbook for the next class to start previewing.

Liu Hao shrugged and turned back, feeling rebuffed.

The last period was a self-study session.

When the homeroom teacher, Teacher Song Jiang, walked in carrying a stack of documents, a groan erupted throughout the classroom.

Every time Old Song appeared at this hour, it was never for anything good!

Sure enough.

Teacher Song Jiang pushed up his glasses and cleared his throat, "Students, quiet down. I have an announcement to make."

The room fell silent, with dozens of eyes fixed on the podium.

"The final exams begin tomorrow," Teacher Song Jiang said, "They will last for two days, and once the exams are over, you can start your winter break."

The classroom was silent for three seconds, and then a complex wave of noise erupted—some cheered, some groaned, and others frantically flipped through their books, starting to cram at the last minute!

"Didn't they say there wouldn't be any final exams this year?!"

"Yeah, and I haven't even reviewed!"

"Did you guys forget? Our math teacher mentioned a few days ago that the pop quiz was in preparation for the final exams."

"Oh no, I thought he was just trying to scare us. Now I'm completely doomed!"

"..."

"Quiet, everyone, quiet!"

Teacher Song Jiang tapped the podium and smiled, "No matter how much you complain, it's useless; you still have to take the exams."

"The class monitor will post the exam schedule in the group chat. Everyone go home and review properly, and don't stay up too late. Alright, get back to self-study."

After he left, the classroom fell back into a buzz of discussion.

"It's over, it's over, it's over. I haven't reviewed anything..."

"Me too! What have I been doing all semester?!"

"What are we testing tomorrow? Chinese and Math? Or Math and Chinese?"

"You don't even know what we're testing on???"

"It hasn't been posted yet!"

"..."

Su Bai leaned back in his chair, watching the various expressions of his classmates; it was quite a sight.

As for the final exams, he wasn't afraid in the slightest.

After all, the knowledge he needed to master was already engraved in his mind.

Even if he stopped attending classes from now on, he could easily get into a Double First-Class university.

Li Longyu, sitting beside him, was equally calm.

For a top student like her, exams might even be a form of enjoyment.

If there were no rankings or grades to judge by, how would anyone know she was good at studying?

Su Bai withdrew his gaze and opened the novel on his desk to read.

Recently, his speed in updating his novel had been a bit sluggish.

After all, much of the content of the novels he read in his previous life was only vaguely remembered.

He could only recall a general plot direction, and the rest depended on his own writing skills to flesh out.

So he kept up the habit of reading novels to improve the fluency of his writing.

The self-study session ended in chaos.

When the bell rang for dismissal, Su Bai packed his bag.

Li Longyu was faster than him; almost the moment the bell rang, she stood up, shouldered her bag, and walked away without looking back.

Su Bai watched her silhouette disappear at the doorway and slowly tucked the last book into his bag.

"Tch, such a kid. Is she actually angry?"

Liu Hao leaned in with a curious look, "Are you really okay?"

"Stop prying."

Su Bai put on his backpack, "I'm heading out. Good luck with the exams tomorrow."

"Oh, oh, you too!" Liu Hao said, scratching his head.

When Su Bai walked out of the teaching building, the setting sun was sinking into the west.

The orange-red light spilled onto the playground, stretching the shadows of the people on the track.

The playground was very lively.

People were jogging on the track, playing soccer on the field, and the sounds of dribbling and cheering came from the basketball court.

A few people were also gathered around the pull-up and parallel bars, doing pull-ups.

Su Bai checked the time; he felt a bit restless.

It was still early, so he might as well exercise for a while before leaving.

He placed his schoolbag on a bench by the playground and walked over to the pull-up bar area.

A boy on the parallel bars was practicing dips, his face flushed red, though his form was quite standard.

On the pull-up bar, two girls were playing; one was hanging there, swinging back and forth, while the other laughed beside her.

Su Bai waited for a while until a pull-up bar was free.

He jumped up and started doing pull-ups.

His movements were not fast, but very steady.

One, two, three... By the time he reached the thirtieth one, the boy practicing on the parallel bars stopped to watch him, a hint of admiration in his eyes.

Several girls nearby were also looking at Su Bai in surprise.

After seeing his handsome face and muscular physique, they couldn't take their eyes off him.

Su Bai finished fifty pull-ups, jumped down, and shook out his arms.

"Bro, you've trained before, right!"

The boy nearby walked over familiarly, squeezed his arm, and looked amazed.

"Oh my god! Fifty pull-ups? Are you a special forces soldier?"

Su Bai laughed heartily, "I just work out every day, that's all. I definitely can't compare to special forces."

That wasn't wrong.

If Long Wu and Long Qi were to do these kinds of pull-ups, each of them could do over two hundred!

And his own limit was about eighty in one go.

Without undergoing hellish training, one couldn't reach that level.

The sunset had completely sunk, and streetlights lit up the playground.

There were fewer people running, the soccer players had dispersed, and only a few scattered people were still exercising.

Su Bai loosened his shoulders, declined the requests from those girls to exchange WeChat, and prepared to go home.

But before that, he had to go to the restroom.

There was a public restroom by the playground, a small building made of red brick, shared by men and women.

When Su Bai walked over, dim yellow lights were on inside, and there was no one at the entrance.

He had just turned the corner when his footsteps suddenly stopped.

He heard... strange sounds coming from the restroom!

It was very soft, but exceptionally clear in the quiet evening.

It was a girl's voice, suppressed and intermittent, as if she were enduring something.

Mixed in was the low panting of a boy.

Su Bai stood behind the wall corner, not moving.

His first reaction was: was someone hurt?

But the next second, he understood what those sounds were.

In the restroom stall, someone was actually doing it!

The sound came from the innermost stall; the door was closed, and two pairs of feet could be seen beneath the door gap.

A pair of sneakers and a pair of canvas shoes, standing face to face.

Su Bai: "..."

He was speechless!

Couldn't they hold it in?!

They were adults, couldn't they at least go out and get a room!

Just as he was about to turn around, footsteps suddenly came from behind him.

"Su Bai!"

A girl's voice rang out, full of surprise.

Su Bai turned around.

Mu Qing stood two meters away, holding a badminton racket, her face still flushed from exercise.

She had changed her clothes and was now wearing a white sports jacket and a black short skirt, with yoga pants underneath.

Her hair was tied in a high ponytail, with a few strands of hair on her forehead dampened by sweat, sticking to her skin.

She had obviously just finished playing badminton and was preparing to come to the restroom.

When she saw Su Bai, her eyes lit up and she was about to continue greeting him—

The next second, Su Bai had already rushed in front of her.

He covered her mouth with one hand, wrapped his other arm around her waist, and with a turn, pulled her into the stall next to him.

The door slammed shut with a "bang."
