97: Chapter 96 Seizing the Future
Su Bai looked at her.
Her eyes were blinking, and her hand was still resting on his leg, not having pulled it back.
"It's fine," Su Bai said indifferently.
Then he reached out to help her up.
Only then did the flight attendant pull her hand back and straighten her body.
"Mr. Su, you look a bit tired. Would you like me to get you an eye mask and earplugs? We have a special sleep-aid kit in first class, along with lavender essential oil, which can help you sleep."
"No need."
"Then do you need a blanket? I see the lady next to you has one, and on your side..."
"No need."
The flight attendant nodded and turned to leave.
After walking two steps, she turned back, "Sir, my name is Xu Nian. If you need anything at all, just call me."
The four words "anything at all" were spoken with a particularly subtle tone.
Su Bai didn't speak and closed his eyes.
With a beauty by his side, he had no intention of having an in-flight encounter with a strange flight attendant right now.
Mu Qing, who was by his side, turned over, and the blanket slid down a bit more.
Su Bai reached out to pull it back up, covering her shoulders.
She stirred, mumbled something unintelligible, and fell back asleep.
The plane passed through a pocket of turbulence and jolted slightly.
He turned over, facing the window.
Outside the window was an impenetrable darkness; the clouds below were pitch black, with only the occasional flash of light in the distance—he didn't know if it was a star or another plane.
He closed his eyes, this time truly ready to sleep.
"Sir..."
The voice came from above, very soft, with a hint of hesitation.
Su Bai opened his eyes and frowned.
He was already a bit impatient with this flight attendant named Xu Nian.
Although she was somewhat attractive, he wasn't a sex-starved maniac.
Xu Nian stood in the aisle, holding a small pillow in her hand.
The pillow was made of memory foam, still in its packaging, and through the transparent plastic bag, one could see the airline's logo printed on the pillowcase.
"Sir, I noticed you kept adjusting your position. Perhaps the pillow isn't comfortable."
She considerately handed the pillow over, "This is a sleep-aid pillow we provide for first-class passengers. You can adjust the height. Would you like to try it?"
Su Bai didn't refuse this time and took it.
"Thank you."
Xu Nian didn't leave.
She stood there, helped him open the packaging, adjusted the pillow's shape, and placed it behind his neck.
Su Bai leaned back, and it was indeed more comfortable.
"How is it?" she asked, her voice filled with a hint of anticipation.
"Not bad."
Seeing that Su Bai was finally satisfied, Xu Nian smiled.
Her smile was bright, revealing two small canine teeth.
She looked even younger, like a fresh university graduate.
"That's good."
She turned to leave, then stopped.
"Sir, are you traveling with the lady next to you?"
Su Bai glanced at her. "Yes, together."
Xu Nian's gaze swept over Mu Qing and quickly withdrew. "Then I wish you a pleasant journey."
She turned and left, this time for real.
Su Bai closed his eyes.
The pillow was comfortable, the seat angle was just right, and the sound of the engines was low and steady.
He was about to fall asleep.
Most of the passengers in the cabin were also asleep.
He didn't know how much time had passed.
He sensed someone approaching.
A scent of perfume drifted to his nose; it wasn't unpleasant, carrying a hint of floral fragrance.
He opened his eyes.
Xu Nian was standing next to his seat, bent over, covering the sleeping Mu Qing with a blanket.
After finishing, she didn't leave.
She straightened up, turned her head, and found Su Bai looking at her.
Her face flushed slightly. "I'm sorry, Mr. Su, did I wake you?"
Su Bai shook his head.
Xu Nian stood there, her fingers unconsciously fiddling with the hem of her uniform, as if she had made up her mind about something. "Sir, would you..."
She hesitated for a moment. "Would you like to go to the restroom in the front? The first-class restroom is cleaner than the ones in the back, and no one is using it right now."
Su Bai looked at her.
Her face was even redder, but she still looked at him, and there was a light in her eyes—not the cautious flattery from before, but something else, more direct and bolder.
Su Bai was silent for two seconds. Then he unbuckled his seatbelt and stood up.
Xu Nian's eyes lit up.
She stepped aside and pointed forward. "This way, please, sir."
The first-class restroom was at the very front of the plane, behind the cockpit.
Xu Nian walked in front and helped him push the door open.
The door opened, and the lights inside automatically turned on. The space wasn't large, but it was very clean.
Su Bai walked in.
Xu Nian stood at the doorway and didn't leave.
Her hand was still resting on the doorknob, her head lowered, her eyelashes casting a shadow under her eyelids.
"Mr. Su," her voice was very soft, with a slight tremble. "Do you... need my help?"
Su Bai looked at her.
Her face was very red, as were her ears; her fingers gripped the doorknob, her knuckles turning white.
She didn't dare look at him, but she didn't leave either.
Su Bai reached out and took the hand she had resting on the doorknob.
Her fingers were cold and trembling slightly.
Xu Nian looked up at him.
Her eyes were bright, filled with nervousness, anticipation, and a hint of fear.
Her lips were slightly parted, and her breathing was a bit rapid.
"Come in."
Su Bai's voice was very soft, but in the quiet restroom, every word was crystal clear.
Xu Nian's eyelashes fluttered.
She took a deep breath and stepped inside.
Su Bai closed the door.
The restroom was very small.
The two of them stood inside, almost pressed against each other.
The toilet lid was down, covered with a disposable seat cover.
On the vanity, there were two bottles of hand soap and a small bouquet of artificial flowers.
The light shone down from above, warm yellow, making everything look soft.
Xu Nian leaned against the door, head lowered, not daring to look at him.
Su Bai looked down at her. "How old are you?"
"Twenty-three," she said in a very small voice.
"How long have you been flying?"
"I've just been flying... for half a year."
Su Bai didn't speak. Xu Nian looked up at him.
Her eyes were glistening, though he didn't know if it was from nervousness or something else.
"Mr. Su," she said softly. "I... this is my first time..."
Su Bai looked at her. "First time for what?"
Xu Nian's face flushed even redder.
She didn't speak, just reached out and placed her hand on his chest.
Her hand was shaking.
Through his shirt, Su Bai could feel the warmth of her palm.
Su Bai didn't move.
Xu Nian's hand slowly moved down, unbuttoning his shirt one by one.
Her movements were clumsy, and her fingers kept trembling.
Su Bai looked at her and asked, "What is your name?"
"Xu Nian," she said. "Xu as in the surname, Nian as in 'yearning'."
"Xu Nian."
Su Bai repeated her name.
Her eyelashes fluttered.
Su Bai's hand slid down from her wrist and took her hand.
Her hand was small, her fingers slender, with neatly applied pale pink nail polish.
"Are you sure?" he asked, his voice indifferent.
Xu Nian looked at him for a few seconds.
Then she nodded. "Yes!"
Su Bai let go of her hand.
Xu Nian took a deep breath and slowly knelt down.
The light in the restroom was still warm yellow, and the sound of the plane's engines hummed low and deep.
Outside the window was an impenetrable darkness; the clouds below were pitch black, with the occasional flash of light in the distance.
The restroom door was closed, and the world outside was very, very far away.
He didn't know how much time had passed when the restroom door opened.
Xu Nian came out first, her face very red, her hair a bit messy.
She stood at the doorway, head lowered, wiping something off her uniform tie...
Su Bai followed behind and walked out.
Xu Nian looked up and glanced at him.
That glance held so many things—nervousness, shyness, and a hint of indescribable satisfaction.
"Mr. Su, are you... satisfied?"
Su Bai looked at her. "Yes."
After a pause, he added, "I will send an email to your company's leadership. Xu Nian... I already gave you my contact information earlier. If you don't want to work at the airline in the future, you can contact me."
Yes! I bet right!
Xu Nian silently made a 'V' sign in her heart.
Then she bowed deeply to Su Bai and said, "Mr. Su, I wish you a pleasant journey!"
She turned and left. This time, she was truly leaving.
Su Bai returned to his seat.
Mu Qing was still asleep, the blanket tucked in well, her breathing steady.
He sat down, fastened his seatbelt, dimmed the reading light, and closed his eyes.
The plane flew south, passing through the night, through the clouds.
Su Bai leaned back in his seat, eyes closed.
This girl, Xu Nian, was quite ambitious.
And quite open-minded.
She knew how to seize an opportunity.
Black Gold membership is only granted to those who have spent over 10 million at the airline.
At his level, if he were to mention Xu Nian's name to the airline's top management, it would be of great benefit to her future development.
Not to mention that Su Bai was so handsome.
She didn't lose out on anything either.
Of course, Su Bai only gave her this opportunity because he saw it was her first time.
What Xu Nian had seized was her future.
