94: Chapter 94 Goddess SuSu, are you alright?

It was face down on the carpet, the screen facing down, and the lens was covered by the carpet, so nothing could be seen.

The live stream exploded instantly.

"?????"

"What happened? What's going on?"

"Su Su? Su Su, are you okay?"

"Did the signal cut out?"

"I think I heard some kind of sound?"

Liu Hao's phone screen was nothing but darkness, but the live stream was still active, and the sound was still coming through.

He heard a dull thud, as if something had fallen to the floor.

Then came a soft "Ying," in Su Su's voice, laced with a bit of surprise, a bit of panic, and a little bit of something else.

He froze, his fingers hovering over the screen, not knowing what to type.

Yin Suwan was pulled over by Su Bai and pressed onto the sofa.

She didn't go to pick up the phone.

Instead, she lay on the floor, turned her head to the side, and spoke to the overturned phone:

"Ah—I accidentally broke the camera just now, so I can only do a voice-only live stream with everyone now."

Her voice was slightly breathless, but her tone remained steady, carrying a hint of a smile, as if she were talking about something very mundane.

The bullet comments started scrolling again.

"You scared me to death! I thought something had happened!"

"Voice is fine too! We love listening to Su Su talk!"

"What was that sound just now? I think I heard something?"

"Su Su, are you okay? Do you need help?"

Liu Hao also sent a bullet comment:

"Goddess, stay safe!" After sending it, he felt the comment was a bit redundant.

Yin Suwan picked up another phone from the side, opened the live stream page, and looked at the bullet comments.

Her fingers slid across the screen, looking at the messages of concern for her, a smile playing on her lips as she replied to them one by one.

"Mm, I'm fine."

"I just knocked it over by accident."

"Thank you all for your concern."

Her voice was steady, but if one listened closely, one could hear a slight tremor in the tail end of her words.

Because of Su Bai.

Her body tensed slightly, and her breathing faltered for a beat, but she continued to reply to the bullet comments normally.

"Yes, I'm out today."

"The weather is okay, not too cold."

"Mm, I might not go back for the New Year."

Her voice was still steady, but if anyone listened carefully, they would definitely be able to tell something was wrong.

Vague and evasive.

"Su Su, what's wrong with your voice? Are you not feeling well?"

Yin Suwan looked at that bullet comment, her eyelashes trembling.

"I have a bit of a cold," she said, "I might have caught a chill."

"Do you have a fever? Drink plenty of hot water!"

"Take care of yourself! Get some rest early!"

"Goddess, don't push yourself too hard. If you're sick, just lie down and rest!"

Liu Hao was also typing:

"Su Su, where do you live? I'm in Jingzhou, how about I bring you some medicine?"

After sending it, he felt a bit embarrassed himself, but he was truly sincere.

The goddess is sick; it's only normal for a fan to be concerned, right?

Yin Suwan looked at those bullet comments and smiled.

"Thank you all for your concern."

Her voice was even softer and gentler than before,

"No need to bring medicine, I'm already... taking, taking medicine."

After a while, Su Bai finally let her go. He leaned close to her ear and whispered:

"Do you still dare to provoke me?"

Yin Suwan shook her head, the movement very slight.

"I never dare to again."

Su Bai's hand moved from her leg to her back, patting it gently.

"That's enough," he said in a low voice, "Get up, don't let people worry."

Yin Suwan lay there without moving.

After several seconds, she slowly raised her head.

Her face was flushed completely red, her lips slightly swollen, and her eyes filled with a watery sheen.

She glanced at Su Bai; in that gaze, there was feigned anger, a plea for mercy, and a little bit of defiance.

She cleared her throat and said to the overturned phone:

"I'm not feeling well today, so I'm going to end the stream here. Everyone, rest early. Good night."

Then she reached out for the phone, without turning it over, and long-pressed the power button to turn it off.

The live stream screen went black, the bullet comments stopped, and everything became quiet.

Only the sound of two people breathing remained in the room.

She buried her face against him, her voice muffled: "Boss, you were... too much just now."

Su Bai looked down at her, "Who was the one who went too far first?"

She was silent for a moment, "I..." her voice was as small as a mosquito's hum.

Su Bai laughed.

He reached out to stroke her hair, his fingers passing through her soft strands, gently combing them.

"Are you still burning?"

Yin Suwan froze for a moment, then immediately realized what he meant.

She buried her face even deeper, her voice so muffled it was almost impossible to hear: "Only... burning for you."

Su Bai's hand paused, and with a stern and upright tone, he said, "Then we must take your temperature."

Yin Suwan's body trembled.

She raised her head, looking at him, her eyes glistening with moisture, her lips slightly parted.

Then she reached out, hooked her arms around his neck, and pulled him down.

With her lips against his ear, her voice as light as the wind: "Then you help me measure it."

"Gladly at your service."

The bedroom light went out.

On the floor-to-ceiling window glass, the shadows of two people overlapped.

Liu Hao lay on the bed, staring at the blacked-out live stream, not exiting for a long time.

The last few sentences Su Su said, her voice sounded off no matter how one listened.

She said she had a cold, but that voice...

He shook his head, pressed the phone against his chest, and stared at the ceiling.

Maybe he was just overthinking it.

The goddess is human too, she gets sick, and of course, her voice changes when she's sick.

Yes, that's it!

He turned over and pulled the quilt over his head.

Outside the window, the city was brightly lit, and the festive atmosphere of the New Year was growing stronger.

He lay in the darkness, eyes wide open, unable to fall asleep for a very, very long time.

——

When Su Bai woke up, a layer of golden light was spread across the lake outside the floor-to-ceiling window.

The sun had just risen from behind the mountain, and the thin mist had not yet dissipated.

He lay there for a while, then turned his head to look beside him.

Yin Suwan was still asleep, her face buried in the hollow of his shoulder, her breathing light and even, her eyelashes occasionally trembling.

The quilt had slid down to her shoulders, revealing a few pale red marks on her collarbone.

Su Bai did not wake her.

He gently withdrew his arm, got out of bed, and went to the bathroom to take a shower.

When he came out, Yin Suwan had already woken up.

She was sitting on the bed wrapped in the quilt, her hair messy, her eyes not yet fully open, looking at him in a daze.

"What time is it?" Her voice was raspy.

"Eight o'clock," Su Bai said, wiping his hair, "You can sleep a little longer."

Yin Suwan shook her head, yawned, and said lazily,

"No, I have to go to the TV station in a while."

She reached out from the quilt, grabbed the phone on the nightstand, took a look,

"Time is tight, I have to hurry over."

"As you wish."

Su Bai nodded and began to get dressed.

Yin Suwan sat on the bed watching him, then suddenly smiled.

Su Bai turned back, "What are you smiling at?"

"Nothing." She shook her head, but the corners of her mouth were still curled up,

"I just think, Oppa, you look better dressed than undressed."

Su Bai glanced at her sideways and didn't respond.

Yin Suwan stuck out her tongue, threw off the quilt, got out of bed, and ran barefoot to the bathroom.

Running to the door, she turned back again:

"Boss, where are you going today?"

"Home."

"Then..." she hesitated, "What about the New Year?"

"We'll see."

"Oh..."

Yin Suwan nodded, didn't ask any further, and closed the bathroom door.

The sound of running water started to splash.
