106: Chapter 105 Song Qian's Accident
Had Song Qian's sister-scamming brother gotten into trouble again?
Su Bai frowned.
He had already let Long Qi handle those loan sharks last time; how long had it even been?
"Don't panic. Tell me slowly. Who are they?"
"I don't know… they aren't the same group as last time."
Song Qian's voice trembled even more. "The people from last time didn't come back, but this time it's a new group. My brother said he was gambling online and borrowed from their platform. With the interest compounding, it's already rolled up to over 1.3 million!"
She burst into tears. "Over 1.3 million… Master, I… even if I sold everything I own, I couldn't pay it back. They want to take me away. What should I do?"
"Don't panic yet," Su Bai's voice was very steady. "Find a place to hide. Don't stay at home."
"I've already come out…" Song Qian's voice was intermittent. "I'm outside… They smashed everything and left. They said if I don't pay, they'll come back tomorrow to take me away. They want to sell me… to pay off the debt."
"My mom is crying at home, my dad…" She couldn't continue.
Su Bai took a deep breath and arranged, "Find a safe place and stay there for now. I'm coming over immediately."
There was silence on the other end of the line for a few seconds.
Then Song Qian cried. It wasn't the repressed, silent kind of crying, but a real outburst. Her voice was loud and pained, as if she had held it in for a long time and finally couldn't hold it back anymore.
"I'm sorry… Master… I really shouldn't disturb you… but I have no choice…"
She cried so hard she couldn't speak a complete sentence. "I only have you… My family doesn't care whether I live or die… They treat me like a bargaining chip… I don't even want to live anymore… Master… I just want to see you… I just want you to AB…"
"Song Qian." Su Bai interrupted her, his voice low but steady. "Listen to me."
"Mm!" Song Qian sniffled, trying hard to keep quiet.
"Don't overthink it," Su Bai said. "Find a place to hide, send me the address, and I'll handle the rest."
The other end of the line was quiet for a while.
Then Song Qian gave a soft "Mm."
"Master…"
"Don't worry. This time, I'll settle it for you once and for all."
"Then… I'll wait for you."
Su Bai hung up. The phone screen went dark.
Su Bai stood in the pool for two seconds, then opened the address Song Qian sent to take a look.
He frowned.
Her home was in a small county in the neighboring province, not far from Hainan, about 500 kilometers away.
There was no airport there.
He would have to… drive. It would take about five or six hours.
Mu Qing stood behind him, not saying a word.
Su Bai turned to look at her and said apologetically, "Qingqing, I have an urgent matter to take care of."
Mu Qing nodded.
Her expression was calm, but there was worry in her eyes.
"I heard," she said. "That girl… is very anxious. You should go, but please, be careful."
Su Bai reached out and patted her head. "Don't worry, I'll be fine. You continue having fun here."
Mu Qing nodded. "You must be careful."
Su Bai withdrew his hand and stepped out of the pool.
He first took out his phone and called Long Wu. "Go to the company, get a car, and wait for me downstairs at the hotel. We're going on a trip."
"Understood."
Mu Qing helped him get his clothes, taking clean ones from the closet and handing him a towel from the bathroom. She was very quiet while doing these things, not speaking, her movements swift, as if she had done it many times before.
After Su Bai changed, she stood in front of him and straightened his collar.
"All done."
Su Bai looked down at her. She tilted her head up, her eyes bright, her lips pursed.
"Wait for me to come back."
Mu Qing nodded vigorously.
Su Bai turned and walked out of the room.
Mu Qing stood at the door, watching his back disappear at the end of the corridor.
When Su Bai went downstairs, Long Wu and Long Qi were already waiting at the hotel entrance.
A black Mercedes G63 was parked under the porch, square and sturdy, like a dormant giant beast.
Long Wu stood beside the car, wearing a dark gray leather jacket, standing straight, his gaze scanning everything around him.
Long Qi sat in the driver's seat, the window rolled down halfway, revealing half his face, his expression very indifferent.
They had arrived faster than Su Bai expected; from the moment he called to driving downstairs, it had taken less than five minutes.
"Boss Su." Long Wu opened the car door.
Su Bai sat in and instructed, "Go to this place."
He handed his phone to Long Qi to show him the address. Long Qi nodded, said nothing, and started the engine.
The G63's engine let out a low roar, like a beast growling.
The car drove out of the hotel and merged into traffic. Su Bai leaned back in his seat, closed his eyes to rest, and pondered his strategy.
Long Wu sat in the passenger seat, took a glance at him through the rearview mirror, said nothing, and turned back to keep watching the road.
The car soon got on the highway and headed north. After about two hours of driving, it started to rain.
The rain wasn't heavy, just a fine, dense drizzle hitting the windshield, wiped away by the wipers stroke by stroke. Long Qi slowed down.
Su Bai frowned, opened his eyes, and said, "Drive faster."
Long Qi said, "Boss, the weather is bad, for safety reasons…"
Su Bai interrupted him, "It's fine, drive as fast as you can."
Long Qi had no choice but to press the accelerator deeper. The rain grew heavier, drumming on the roof like someone scattering beans overhead.
Su Bai briefly explained the situation with Song Qian to them.
Long Wu turned back from the passenger seat, "Boss Su, how should we handle it when we arrive?"
Su Bai thought for a moment and said indifferently, "Find the person first, we'll talk about the rest later."
Long Wu nodded and turned back. The car fell silent, with only the sound of the rain and the low hum of the engine.
Five hours later, in the evening, the car exited the highway and turned onto a provincial road.
The road narrowed, with farmland and sparse villages on both sides.
The rain had eased a bit, and the road was very dark with no streetlights, only the headlights illuminating a small patch of road ahead.
Entering the county town, the houses on both sides were low and old, with faded advertisements painted on the walls.
The county town in the rain was very quiet, with almost no one on the streets.
Su Bai sent a message to Song Qian: "I'm almost there."
Song Qian immediately replied with a location share, followed by a voice message: "Master, I'll come out to meet you."
Su Bai replied: "No need, it's cold outside. Just tell me the room number." Song Qian sent the room number.
The car stopped in front of a small inn. It was called an inn, but it was actually a converted residential house, three stories tall, with white paint on the exterior walls, some parts of which had peeled off, exposing the concrete underneath.
Su Bai pushed open the car door, the cold wind rushed in, he calmly took a breath, and walked into the inn.
