103: Chapter 102 I'm afraid you'll get it and then not want it anymore.
Su Bai did not look at her.
His attention was on the DJ deck, his fingers sliding over the turntable, his ears switching between the monitor headphones and the live sound.
But he could feel the pink-haired DJ's body heat.
He could feel her breath and the pleasant scent of her perfume.
She didn't stop; instead, she pressed even closer.
Her arms wrapped around his waist, her face pressed against his shoulder, and her lips almost touched his neck.
When the girls below saw this scene, the cheering grew even louder!
Whistles, screams—it was incredibly lively!
Wang Zheng leaned against the railing nearby, holding a champagne glass, watching the scene with a smile.
Mu Qing sat on the sofa, watching the pink-haired woman on the DJ deck pressed against Su Bai.
Her hands clenched tighter, her nails digging into her palms; it hurt a little.
That strange feeling in her heart grew stronger.
Sour, astringent, and a kind of indescribable excitement.
Her heart was beating fast, so fast she could barely catch her breath.
She watched Su Bai's fingers slide across the DJ deck, watched that woman rhythmically grinding against him, and he had no intention of pushing her away.
She stood up, wanting to walk over, but her legs felt weak; she stood for a moment and then sat back down.
The music changed.
The drumbeats slowed, the bass deepened, and the melody became ambiguous.
Sticky and thick, like the air on a tropical night.
The pink-haired DJ's hand moved away from Su Bai's waist, sliding up his back, to his shoulder, to his neck.
Her lips pressed against his ear, and she said something.
Su Bai's fingers paused for a moment, then he continued DJing.
The pink-haired DJ smiled, withdrew her hand, and took a step back.
Su Bai pulled down the final fader, and the music stopped.
The deck was quiet for a moment, then erupted in applause and cheers.
Su Bai took off his headphones and placed them on the DJ deck.
The pink-haired DJ stood beside him, looking at him with a smile on her lips and bright eyes.
Mu Qing looked up at the DJ deck.
"Huh? Where are they?"
She was stunned for a moment and looked around.
On the deck, the girls were still dancing and Wang Zheng was still drinking, but Su Bai was gone, and the pink-haired woman was gone too!
Where did they go?
She stood up, her heart racing.
She crossed the dance floor, pushed past the swaying people, and walked to the side of the DJ deck.
Wang Zheng was leaning against the railing drinking, and seeing her approach, a meaningful smile appeared on his face.
"Looking for Old Bai? He just went upstairs."
He pointed upstairs.
Mu Qing looked up.
The yacht had three levels; the top two were dark, with only the string lights on the railing flickering.
She bit her lip and walked toward the stairs.
Wang Zheng shouted behind her, "It's dark up there, be careful!"
Mu Qing didn't look back, holding the railing as she climbed up.
The stairs were narrow and made of iron, making a thumping sound with every step.
The higher she went, the quieter the music became and the louder the sound of the waves.
The sea breeze poured down from above, blowing her hair everywhere.
She climbed to the third level; the deck was very dark, with only a few small lights on in the corners.
String lights hung on the railings, swaying gently in the night breeze, casting light that looked like broken gold on the sea surface.
The sound of the waves was loud, drowning out the faint music from below.
She looked around; no one was there.
Just as she was about to walk toward the ship's side, she suddenly heard a sound.
It was very faint, mostly drowned out by the waves, but she heard it.
It was a woman's voice, suppressed and intermittent.
Her footsteps paused.
Then she saw—
At the very end of the ship's side, in the shadows where the light couldn't reach, there were two people.
The pink-haired DJ had her hands on the railing, her back to her, her short pink hair very conspicuous in the darkness.
She had taken off her raincoat, which was draped over the railing, and her fluorescent pink bikini glowed faintly in the dim light.
Behind her stood a person, whose floral shirt fluttered gently in the night breeze.
Su Bai's hand was on her waist, his other hand on the railing.
Mu Qing stood at the top of the stairs, looking in that direction.
The sea breeze poured into her mouth, salty and astringent.
Her legs went weak, and she had to hold onto the railing to steady herself.
She should leave, should go downstairs, should go back to her room, and pretend she hadn't seen anything.
And then slap Su Bai tomorrow!
But she couldn't move.
Her legs felt like they were filled with lead; she couldn't take a single step.
She stood there, watching the two figures at the end of the railing, watching Su Bai's hand move away from the female DJ's waist, watching her turn her head and lift her face.
Mu Qing turned around and walked down, holding the railing.
On the first deck, the music was still playing, and the girls were still dancing.
Wang Zheng saw her come down and immediately went to meet her.
"What's wrong? You look so pale."
Mu Qing shook her head.
"I'm fine, just a little seasick."
Wang Zheng frowned.
"Do you want me to send someone to take you back?"
Mu Qing shook her head.
"No need, I'll just sit for a while."
She walked back to the sofa, sat down, picked up the champagne on the table, and drank it all in one gulp.
The bubbles made her cough uncontrollably, so much so that tears came out.
Wang Zheng walked over and handed her a tissue.
"Are you okay?"
Mu Qing took the tissue and wiped the corners of her eyes.
"I'm fine, I just choked."
Wang Zheng looked at her, not quite believing it, but since she was Su Bai's friend, he couldn't press her.
So he sat down beside her and handed her a glass of water.
"Drink some water and catch your breath."
Mu Qing took it and drank a sip.
She held the cup, watching the dance floor.
The girls were still dancing, and the music was still playing.
Someone else was on the DJ deck; a girl with dreadlocks was DJing.
She put the cup on the table, leaned back on the sofa, and closed her eyes.
The sound of the waves was loud, mixed with music and laughter, a buzzing sound.
She didn't know what she was thinking; her mind was a mess, and she couldn't grasp anything.
About an hour and a half later, footsteps came from the stairs.
She opened her eyes.
Su Bai walked down; the floral shirt was still the same floral shirt, the shorts were still the same shorts, and the flip-flops were still the same flip-flops.
But there was a strong scent of perfume on him.
Behind him followed the pink-haired female DJ, who looked completely exhausted.
Su Bai had no expression on his face; he walked to the side of the sofa and sat down opposite her.
Mu Qing looked at him.
He looked at her too. The two stared at each other for a few seconds.
Su Bai spoke, "Let's go, time to head back."
He stood up and walked toward the gangplank.
Mu Qing followed behind him, looking at his broad back.
The dock lights were very bright, making her eyes ache.
She squinted, following Su Bai, her footsteps thumping on the wooden planks.
They walked off the pier and got into the car.
"Su Bai." Mu Qing started.
"Hmm?"
"That woman..."
Su Bai seemed to know what she wanted to ask and said indifferently,
"Yeah, we hooked up."
She turned her head in disbelief, looking at him.
His profile was cold in the dim light of the dashboard, his jawline tense, his lips pursed.
"You...!"
She suddenly didn't know what she should say.
They weren't in a relationship, so whatever Su Bai did had nothing to do with her!
She withdrew her gaze and stared blankly out the window.
The streetlights kept receding, the sea was pitch black, and she couldn't see anything.
She leaned back against the seat and closed her eyes.
"Su Bai." After hesitating for a long time, she spoke again.
"Hmm."
"I'm sorry."
Su Bai didn't speak.
The car turned onto the road to the hotel, and the palm trees on both sides rustled in the wind.
Mu Qing opened her eyes and looked at the trees.
Receding one by one, just like her position in Su Bai's heart, retreating little by little.
The car stopped at the hotel entrance.
Mu Qing sat in the passenger seat, not moving.
"Um, just now... it wasn't that I didn't want to."
She said hesitantly,
"I was just... afraid..." She paused, "afraid that once you got me, you wouldn't want me anymore."
Su Bai looked at her.
She kept her head down, not daring to look at him.
"Get out of the car."
Su Bai said, pushing open the car door.
Mu Qing was stunned for a moment, her big eyes widening, and she followed him out of the car.
