49: Chapter 49 Another Beating of the Spirited Young Man
Zhou Qing felt a chill run down his spine from the look in Su Bai's eyes, and he didn't dare to move.
Su Bai repeated himself, his tone somewhat impatient.
"Come here!"
Zhou Qing's legs finally moved.
He inched forward, step by step, as if every step were on the edge of a blade.
Walking up to Su Bai, he kept his head low, not daring to look up.
"Big Brother, I really didn't know—"
"Slap!"
Su Bai couldn't be bothered with nonsense and slapped him across the face!
Zhou Qing tilted to the side, stumbled a few steps, and nearly fell over.
His face swelled up at a visible rate, and blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.
"You really don't learn, do you?" Su Bai's voice was very calm.
"You dare to ask my girlfriend to accompany you?"
Girlfriend?
These three words burrowed into Mu Qing's ears, and her heart skipped a beat.
Seeing their boss getting hit, the few lackeys subconsciously wanted to rush forward.
Su Bai raised his leg and kicked; the lackey closest to him flew two meters away, crashing to the ground and unable to get up.
"Slap!"
Immediately following that, he landed another slap, and the other lackey spun in place twice before landing on his butt.
The remaining few didn't dare to move anymore.
Su Bai looked at Zhou Qing.
"Get lost!"
As if granted amnesty, the group turned and ran, one of them even losing a shoe in the process.
Zhou Qing wanted to run too.
"Stop, did I tell you that you could leave?"
Zhou Qing's legs seemed to be nailed to the spot.
Su Bai walked up to him.
"If there's a next time," his gaze was sharp as a knife, carved into Zhou Qing's face,
"it won't just be a matter of a slap."
"Do you understand?"
Zhou Qing nodded frantically.
"Get lost!"
Zhou Qing turned and ran, faster than anyone else.
Truly worthy of being a boss.
The air quieted down.
Only that junior high student remained, standing in place, his legs trembling.
He watched Zhou Qing's retreating figure, looked at the two lackeys lying on the ground unable to get up, and then looked at the tall man in front of him; he was completely bewildered.
How could this be?!
Isn't Zhou Qing a street thug?!
Didn't people say his cousin works at the station?
How could he be beaten to the point of wetting himself with just one slap!
Su Bai looked at him.
The junior high student took a step back.
Su Bai walked over.
He squatted down, reached out, and pinched his face.
The face was very thin, with no meat to pinch.
"You, a little snot-nosed kid, and you dare to collect protection money?" he asked.
The junior high student was on the verge of tears.
"B-Big Brother, I, I won't dare to do it again..."
Su Bai pinched his face and shook it left and right.
"Behave yourself, study hard, and strive for improvement."
The junior high student nodded frantically.
Su Bai let go.
The junior high student's legs went soft, and he sat directly on the ground.
He looked down and saw his crotch was wet.
Su Bai stood up and stopped looking at him.
He pulled his hand back and turned to walk toward Mu Qing.
Mu Xiaohu only just snapped out of it, and he leaned in, his eyes shining brilliantly.
"Sis!" he whispered, "Is this Big Brother my brother-in-law?"
Mu Qing's face flushed red instantly.
"Not yet!" she lowered her voice, "This is my classmate!"
Mu Xiaohu blinked.
"But I heard it just now," he said, "Just now, this Big Brother said you were his girlfriend."
Mu Qing's face grew even redder.
She wanted to explain, but for a moment, she didn't know what to say.
Su Bai walked over and happened to hear this conversation.
He looked at Mu Xiaohu and smiled.
"That was just to scare them," he said, "Saying it like that, they shouldn't dare to provoke you guys in the future."
Mu Xiaohu suddenly realized.
"Oh—" he drew out the sound, "So he's not my brother-in-law yet?"
Mu Qing slapped the back of his head.
"Shut up!"
Mu Xiaohu covered his head and chuckled, then thought of something and said, "But... your classmate drives this kind of car?"
He pointed to that panamera.
Mu Qing only just remembered this car.
The obsidian-colored body, the smooth lines, the low-key yet flashy temperament.
She was too nervous to look closely earlier, but now that she looked, this car must cost at least one or two million, right?!
She looked at Su Bai; she hadn't expected Su Bai to be a rich second-generation heir?
Su Bai had no intention of explaining.
Mu Xiaohu had already leaned in front of Su Bai, looking up with eyes full of admiration.
"Big Brother, you were so cool just now!"
He gave a thumbs up, "Slapping that yellow-haired guy away! That was too awesome!"
Su Bai looked down at him.
This fourteen or fifteen-year-old junior high student was currently looking at him with the eyes one would use for an idol.
"You're so good at fighting," Mu Xiaohu continued to ask, "Did you train before?"
Su Bai smiled and shook his head.
Mu Xiaohu didn't care whether Su Bai responded to him or not, and continued on his own: "Big Brother, do you take apprentices? I want to learn from you!"
Mu Qing slapped the back of his head.
"Learn what? Is fighting a good thing?!"
Mu Xiaohu covered his head, looking unconvinced.
"I didn't start the trouble! I was just upholding justice!"
"Upholding justice?" Mu Qing glared at him, "You're a junior high student, what kind of justice are you upholding?"
Mu Xiaohu stiffened his neck.
Mu Qing stopped paying attention to him and turned to Su Bai, the flush on her face not yet faded.
"Thank you for today," she whispered, "If it weren't for you..."
She paused, not finishing her sentence.
Su Bai shook his head and smiled, "It's nothing."
Mu Qing looked at him and bit her lip.
"Um... how about I treat you to a meal," she said, "as a thank you."
Su Bai thought for a moment and agreed.
"Sure."
Mu Qing's eyes lit up, and she said with a hint of excitement, "Then let's go now?"
"Okay."
Mu Xiaohu looked at his sister, then at Su Bai, raised an eyebrow, and suddenly said, "Um, Sis, I won't go."
Mu Qing was stunned for a moment.
"Why?"
Mu Xiaohu said solemnly: "I have to go back and do homework."
Mu Qing looked at him, not knowing what to say for a moment.
This kid, when did he become so studious?
Mu Xiaohu winked at her and then turned and ran.
"Goodbye, brother-in-law!" he shouted while running, "I'll treat you to a meal next time!"
Mu Qing's face turned red again.
"Mu Xiaohu!!"
But Mu Xiaohu had already run far away.
Su Bai watched his retreating figure, smiled, and said, "Your brother is quite interesting."
Mu Qing lowered her head and muttered softly, "What's interesting about him, he's so annoying."
The two stood there, silent for a few seconds.
"Let's go," Su Bai said, "I'll give you a ride."
Mu Qing looked up at him.
The winter sunlight leaked through the gaps in the leaves, casting dappled light and shadows on his face.
He stood there, hands in his down jacket pockets, his posture casual, yet carrying an indescribable aura.
She suddenly felt her heart beating a little fast.
Su Bai pulled open the passenger door. "Get in."
Mu Qing sat in and fastened her seatbelt.
The car was filled with a faint scent of leather, the seats were soft and comfortable, and the buttons on the center console were neatly arranged, exuding a sense of low-key luxury.
She looked around and asked softly, "Is this your car?"
"Mm."
She leaned back against the chair, watching the street scene receding outside the window.
The car drove into the traffic, merging into this winter morning.
Mu Qing suddenly remembered something.
"Su Bai."
"Hmm?"
"Why is Zhou Qing so afraid of you?"
Su Bai's hand on the steering wheel paused. "We've dealt with each other before," he said.
"Huh?"
Seeing how scared Zhou Qing and the others were, could it be that they were beaten by Su Bai before?
"Mm."
Mu Qing waited for a while, realizing he didn't intend to continue explaining.
She didn't press further either.
Everyone has their own secrets.
For instance, she...
