150: Chapter 149 Are you interested in entering the entertainment industry?

After finishing the meal, Mu Qing stood up to clear the dishes.

Su Bai sat on the sofa and turned on the television.

A variety show was playing on TV; the host was laughing, the guests were making a scene, and the audience was applauding.

He wasn't really watching, just clicking through channels with the remote.

Mu Qing finished washing the dishes, wiped her hands clean, came out of the kitchen, and sat down beside him.

She leaned over, resting her head on his shoulder; her hair brushed against his chin, tickling him.

Su Bai reached out to wrap his arm around her waist, and she leaned into his embrace.

"You were... so fierce in the kitchen just now."

Su Bai looked down at her.

Her face was buried in his chest, only half of it visible, her ears flushed red, and the corners of her mouth curled up.

"What, were you scared?"

Mu Qing shook her head.

She buried her face deeper into his chest, her voice muffled.

"I liked it."

Su Bai didn't speak, a curve forming on his lips.

His hand patted her back gently, rhythmically, very lightly and slowly.

Mu Qing's breathing slowly became light and steady, her body growing softer and softer, like a piece of chocolate left beside a radiator, slowly melting and clinging to him.

After a while, Mu Qing raised her head and looked into his eyes.

In her eyes, there was the light from the TV screen, the light from the lamp on the coffee table, and his reflection.

She reached out to touch his face, tracing from his cheekbone to his chin, and from his chin to his lips.

She leaned in and kissed his lips, a quick, light touch, like a dragonfly skimming the water.

After the kiss, she buried her face back in, saying in a muffled voice, "How about... we go to bed?"

Su Bai scooped her up.

She was very light, much lighter than she looked.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, her face buried in his chest like a tired cat.

Su Bai carried her into the bedroom and set her on the bed.

The bed wasn't big, but it was soft, with a light blue duvet printed with small white flowers.

Mu Qing lay there, her hair spread out on the pillow; it was black, contrasting with the light blue pillowcase like ink flowing in water.

She reached out, grabbed his collar, and pulled him down.

The next morning, when Su Bai woke up, Mu Qing was still asleep.

Her breathing was light and steady, the corners of her mouth curled up, wondering what sweet dream she was having.

Su Bai watched her for a moment, then sat up and got dressed.

Mu Qing stirred, letting out a vague whimper, as if disturbed by his movements.

She turned over to face him, her eyes still closed, but her hand had already reached out, finding his arm and clutching it.

"What time is it?" her voice was raspy.

"It's still early, go back to sleep."

Mu Qing shook her head, rubbed her eyes, and forced them open just a slit to look at him.

Su Bai was buttoning his shirt; she watched his fingers move over the buttons for a few seconds, then reached out to help him.

Her fingers were still clumsy, and it took her a long time to do just one button.

Su Bai looked down at her.

Her face was flushed, her eyes half-open, her hair messy, like a child who had just woken up.

He reached out and patted her bottom.

"I'm heading off now."

Mu Qing's face turned red again.

She leaned over and kissed his cheek; her lips were soft and cool against his face.

"Drive safely."

Su Bai grunted in acknowledgement, stood up, and walked out of the bedroom.

He freshened up quickly, using Mu Qing's toothbrush; the toothpaste was strawberry-flavored, sweet.

He looked at himself in the mirror; his hair was a bit messy, so he combed it briefly.

He walked out of the bathroom, picked up his schoolbag from the sofa, and went to the door to change his shoes.

"Su Bai." Mu Qing's voice came from the bedroom, muffled through the door.

"Yeah."

"Are you coming back tonight?"

Su Bai thought for a moment.

"We'll see."

There was silence in the bedroom for a moment, then a soft "Oh" followed, carrying a hint of disappointment, a hint of anticipation, and something else that was hard to describe.

Su Bai opened the door and left.

When the car arrived downstairs at Li Longyu's place, she was already standing there.

She was wearing a white shirt, dark trousers, and black flats, her hair tied in a low ponytail, her face bare and clean.

She was carrying a canvas bag printed with a cat; the cat had large, wide-open eyes.

Su Bai parked the car in front of her and rolled down the window.

"Here so early?"

Li Longyu opened the car door, sat in the passenger seat, and buckled her seatbelt. "I didn't sleep last night."

Su Bai glanced at her.

There were dark circles under her eyes; she really hadn't slept well.

"Is it really that big a deal?"

Li Longyu didn't speak, looking out the window.

Su Bai started the engine, and the car drove out of the residential complex.

Neither of them spoke the whole way.

Li Longyu leaned back against the seat, watching the streetscape receding outside the window.

Her fingers tapped lightly on her knees, one beat after another, without any rhythm.

Su Bai drove, an old song playing on the radio, the melody slow and soft.

The car stopped in front of Liusu Entertainment.

Su Bai got out of the car, and Li Longyu followed behind.

The two walked into the lobby, where the Round-faced girl at the front desk was organizing the registration forms; seeing Su Bai enter, she stood up and bowed slightly.

"Hello, President Su."

Su Bai nodded.

Li Longyu's steps faltered for a moment.

She glanced at Su Bai, then at the Front desk girl, said nothing, and followed Su Bai into the elevator.

The elevator went up.

Li Longyu stood beside Su Bai, clutching the strap of her canvas bag so tightly that her knuckles turned white.

"They called you President Su." Her voice was very soft.

Su Bai didn't speak.

"This company... is it yours?"

Su Bai looked at her.

"Hmm, you could say that."

Li Longyu lowered her head, staring at the tips of her shoes, lost in thought.

She didn't speak again.

The elevator arrived, and the doors opened.

Su Bai walked out, and Li Longyu followed.

The hallway was long and carpeted; there was no sound when stepping on it.

Su Bai walked to the door of Shen Tian's office and pushed it open directly.

Shen Tian was sitting behind her desk, reviewing documents.

She was wearing a white shirt and black wide-leg trousers, her hair put up, looking very capable.

Seeing Su Bai enter, she looked up and smiled.

"President Su, so early?"

Su Bai walked in, with Li Longyu following behind.

Shen Tian's gaze landed on Li Longyu, looking her up and down.

Li Longyu stood behind Su Bai, head lowered, her fingers still clutching the strap of her canvas bag.

Su Bai stepped aside. "This is Li Longyu, my classmate, here for a part-time job as a receptionist."

Shen Tian stood up, walked around the desk, and approached Li Longyu.

She was half a head taller than Li Longyu, looking down at her, her gaze moving from her face to her body, and back to her face.

Her eyes lit up.

"This young lady has great potential."

She reached out, lifted Li Longyu's chin, and looked her over from left to right.

"Fair skin, delicate features, and a good figure."

She let go and stepped back, crossing her arms.

"With these looks and figure, it's a waste to just be a receptionist."

Li Longyu looked up at Shen Tian.

Shen Tian's eyes were bright, filled with scrutiny, appreciation, and a professional, evaluative look.

"Any interest in entering the entertainment industry?" Shen Tian asked with interest.
