120: Chapter 119 Company Dinner, A Stunning Beauty Makes Her Appearance
Tian Xiwei and Wang Churan looked up at the same time, their eyes wide with shock.
They had just signed their contracts and hadn't undergone any training yet, not even assigned a manager, and now the big boss was giving them roles directly?
A supporting role in a costume drama?
And one with room for performance!
Tian Xiwei's mouth opened again, but this time it wasn't because she forgot to close it; she wanted to say something but didn't know what to say.
"W-willing! I'm willing!" She finally squeezed out the words, her voice so loud it startled even herself.
Wang Churan nodded vigorously beside her, her hair coming undone from the motion. "Me too! Willing, I'm willing!"
Su Bai smiled. "Then I'll have Boss Shen arrange it later."
He stood up. "Alright, you two go on out first. I have some things to discuss with Boss Shen."
Tian Xiwei and Wang Churan nodded and turned to walk out.
When they reached the door, Tian Xiwei stole a glance back at Su Bai. That look held shock, gratitude, and a bit of lingering fear.
Wang Churan also snuck a look back. The two made eye contact, then quickly slipped out the door.
After the door closed, the two girls walked a few steps down the hallway. Only after confirming the office door was tightly shut did they stop.
Tian Xiwei leaned against the wall, clutching her heaving chest, gasping for air. "Oh my god..."
"We just... in front of the big boss... said he was young... said we'd take care of him... and even said Boss Shen liked him..."
Wang Churan squatted on the floor, burying her face in her knees in shame. "Stop..." Her voice was muffled. "I want to die..."
"And he still gave us resources!" Tian Xiwei's voice suddenly went up an octave. "And it's a supporting role in a major costume drama! Am I dreaming?"
She pinched her own thigh, wincing in pain. "It's not a dream!"
Wang Churan lifted her face from her knees; her face was as red as a cooked shrimp. "He was so handsome just now."
Tian Xiwei looked at her.
"And he's such a nice person," Wang Churan added. "We said so much nonsense, yet he didn't get angry and even gave us resources."
Tian Xiwei squatted down next to her. The two girls squatted in the hallway like two little birds soaked in the rain.
"Do you think," Tian Xiwei lowered her voice, "he's interested in us?"
Wang Churan gave her a look, filled with pity. I think it's you who's interested in him!
Wang Churan didn't answer. She stood up and brushed the non-existent dust off her skirt. "Let's go, we're going to be late for training."
The two girls walked down the hallway, their footsteps fading, their voices growing quieter until they disappeared around the corner at the end of the hall.
Inside the office, Shen Tian closed the door, turned around, and leaned against the door panel, looking at Su Bai. Her face was flushed, whether due to makeup or some other reason, it was unclear.
"Boss Su," her voice returned to that coquettish, spoiled tone that she only used with him. "I was waiting for you downstairs for ages, but you just came up on your own and were chatting happily with two young girls."
Su Bai walked back to the sofa and sat down. "They're quite interesting."
Shen Tian walked over, sat down opposite him, and crossed her legs. Her hip-hugging skirt slid up a bit because of this movement, revealing more of her thighs wrapped in black silk stockings. She didn't pull it down, just sat there and began to report on work.
"The project for 'Legend of Chu Qiao' has already started. The actors' schedules are fine, the director is signed, and we start filming next month."
She picked up a folder from the table and opened it. "The copyright registration for the two songs 'Xiao Chou' and 'The Wind Rises' has been completed, the production team has been set, and we expect to enter the studio for recording next month."
Her voice returned to the competence and clarity of a professional woman; her speaking pace was steady, highlighting the key points clearly and logically.
Su Bai leaned back on the sofa, listening to her report, nodding occasionally and asking a question now and then.
Two hours later. Shen Tian finished, closed the folder, and looked at Su Bai. Su Bai was still staring blankly at her lips. "Boss Su?" she called out.
Su Bai snapped back to reality. "Hm?" "The report is finished." Su Bai nodded. "Alright, thank you for your hard work."
Shen Tian looked at him for a few seconds, then stood up and walked to the window, looking at the distant TV tower. "There's a company senior management dinner at noon. Will you come? Everyone wants to meet you."
Su Bai also stood up. "Alright, I'll handle the arrangements."
At noon, Su Bai hosted a dinner for the senior management of Baiye Entertainment. The restaurant was a five-star hotel near the company; the private room was huge, with a round table that could seat twenty people.
When Su Bai arrived, almost everyone was already there. There weren't many senior executives at Baiye Entertainment, just seven or eight people, all veterans who had followed Shen Tian for many years.
There were those in charge of talent management, film and television investment, public relations, and a few other department heads.
When Su Bai walked into the private room, everyone stood up. Shen Tian walked beside him, half a step behind, her posture respectful yet natural.
"Hello, Boss Su." Several people said in unison. Su Bai nodded. "Sit down, please, no need for formalities." Everyone took their seats.
Su Bai sat in the main seat, and Shen Tian sat on his left. The dishes were served one after another, all from the best restaurants in Jingzhou, with exquisite plating and expensive ingredients.
Everyone ate and chatted; the atmosphere wasn't overly rigid, but it couldn't be called relaxed either. Su Bai didn't say much, spending most of the time listening and occasionally asking a question. Whoever was asked would put down their chopsticks and answer earnestly.
Halfway through the meal, the door to the private room was pushed open. A woman walked in, wearing a black dress with a cinched waist and a V-neck, the hem just above her knees.
She wore an off-white cashmere coat over it, which she took off and draped over her arm, revealing a section of her fair arm and a delicate diamond bracelet on her wrist. Her hair was in large waves, draped over her shoulders, making her face look small and fair, with very exquisite features.
Fan Bingbing. Ten years ago, she became famous across the country with a costume drama. Later, she opened her own studio, signed with companies, and became a producer and investor.
Five years ago, at Su Bai's invitation, she joined Liusu Entertainment in the form of studio equity, becoming the company's third-largest shareholder. Last year, she became a massive hit again with "Wu Meiniang," and she was currently at the peak of her popularity.
Her gaze swept around the room and then landed on Su Bai. With a perfectly timed smile on her face, she walked over and sat down in the empty seat next to Su Bai, draped her coat over the back of the chair, turned, and faced him.
Her arms rested on the edge of the table, her body leaning forward slightly, the V-neck opening slightly with the movement, her eyes sultry. "Boss Su,"
Her voice was neither high nor low, carrying a mature, lazy, cat-like quality. "Long time no see."
Su Bai looked at her and smiled. "Long time no see. Have you been busy lately?"
Fan Bingbing sighed; it was a skillful sigh that didn't make people feel she was complaining, but rather that she was tired and in need of care. "Busy to death! My new drama just wrapped, but then issues came up in post-production. I've been soaking in the editing room every day, I'm almost dried out."
She lifted Su Bai's hand and touched it to her own face. "Look, have I lost weight?"
Su Bai glanced at her. "I can't tell."
Fan Bingbing laughed brilliantly. "Boss Su is still as bad with words as ever."
She picked up the wine glass on the table, poured herself a glass of red wine, and raised it. "Come, a toast to Boss Su. May our company become more and more prosperous."
Su Bai also raised his glass and clinked it against hers. Fan Bingbing tilted her head back and took a large gulp; the wine stained her lips, glistening moistly under the lights. She put down the glass, licked her lips, and then looked at Su Bai, her gaze lingering on his face for a moment.
