95: Chapter 95 The Trip Begins

When the two of them had finished packing and came out of the hotel, the internal reception staff had already prepared breakfast.

After finishing breakfast, the shuttle bus dropped them off at the entrance, where Su Bai's panamera and Yin Suwan's white Maserati were parked side by side.

The morning breeze blew over, feeling a bit cold, so she shrank her neck and wrapped herself tighter in her beige cape.

Su Bai opened the driver's side door, looked back at her, and said, "Be safe on the road."

Yin Suwan nodded.

She stood by the car, watching him, her lips moving as if she wanted to say something.

In the end, she just smiled, said, "Drive safely, Boss," and then opened the car door and got in.

The white Maserati drove out of the estate first, paused at the gate, and after rolling down the window, she waved at Su Bai.

Then the car turned onto the road and disappeared into the morning light.

Su Bai stood there watching for a moment, then opened his car door, got in, and started the engine.

Over an hour later, Su Bai's car drove into Lanyuan Residential Area.

He parked the car, went upstairs, and pushed open the door.

The living room was very quiet; had the homebody Lin Qiaoyou actually gone out for once?!

With the New Year approaching, Song Qian had gone home, Lin Qiaoyou had gone out, and Luo Ying, Chu Yi, and Chu Xiang had all left.

The entire house was left with only him.

It was rather boring.

Suddenly, he remembered something.

He had previously promised Mu Qing that they would go on a trip to Hainan.

Since he had nothing to do right now anyway, he might as well go out and wander around.

Su Bai opened his chat window with Mu Qing and typed two characters: [Going?] He sent it.

"Ding-dong!" [Going!!!] The other party replied in seconds with three exclamation marks, even faster than his message.

Su Bai was stunned for a moment; before he could react, his phone vibrated. It was a call from Mu Qing.

After he answered, Mu Qing's voice came through, filled with excitement, urgency, and a bit of panting, as if she were running while making the call. "Su Bai! You finally asked me out! I've been bored to death. Should we leave now?"

Su Bai leaned against the headboard. "Is everything alright at home?"

"It's fine!" Mu Qing's voice was so loud it almost pierced through the screen. "I just need to tell my mom! I'm just idling at home anyway, it's so annoying!"

Su Bai laughed. "Can you really leave?"

"Yes! I'm packing right now!" There was a sound of rummaging through boxes and cabinets on the other end. "Wait for me a moment, I'll be ready immediately!"

"No rush," Su Bai said. "Don't forget to tell your family."

"I already told them, I already told them!" Mu Qing's voice drifted further away, as if she had put the phone on the table to use speakerphone. "Mom! I'm going on a trip! With a classmate! I'll be back in a few days!"

A woman's voice could be vaguely heard: "With whom? A male classmate or a female classmate?"

"A female classmate!" Mu Qing's voice sounded righteous.

Su Bai raised an eyebrow on his end of the phone. What the heck? Did she just change her gender?

"Which female classmate? Do I know her?" Mu Qing's mother asked, looking suspicious.

"You don't know her! Oh, Mom, stop asking!"

Then there was a sound of footsteps, and Mu Qing picked up the phone, lowering her voice. "I'll hang up first, I'll call you in a bit."

Su Bai said, "Alright, send me your home address, and I'll come pick you up."

"Okay! Call me when you get here!" Mu Qing hung up.

Su Bai sat up from the bed. If he was going on a trip, there wasn't much to pack: a few changes of clothes, toiletries, identification, and bank cards. He could just buy anything else when he arrived.

He got it done in five minutes, stuffing his things into a small suitcase, zipping it up, and rolling it to the living room.

When passing Lin Qiaoyou's room, he stopped and glanced at the closed door. After thinking for a moment, he took out his phone and sent her a message: [I'm going out for a few days.]

After sending it, he felt a bit uneasy, so he added a sentence: [There's food in the fridge, don't keep ordering takeout.]

He went downstairs and put the suitcase in the trunk. Just as he got on the road, Mu Qing called again.

"Su Bai! Have you left yet?"

"I'm already on the road."

"Good, good, good! Let me tell you, my mom just asked so many questions, I almost got caught!"

"What do you mean?"

"I said I was going on a trip with a female classmate! She insisted on seeing a photo of that female classmate! Where was I supposed to find one for her?"

Su Bai laughed and asked curiously, "So how did you manage to get out in the end?"

"I'm not telling you!" Mu Qing's voice was anxious and shy. "Anyway, call me as soon as you arrive. I'll wait for you at the intersection; don't let my mom see you."

"Alright."

"Drive slowly, be safe."

Su Bai put down his phone and focused on driving.

About half an hour later, when Su Bai was almost there, he dialed Mu Qing's number, and she answered after one ring.

"Are you here?" Her voice was very low.

"Yeah, where are you?"

"I'm waiting for you at the intersection next to the residential area! Call me when you get here, and I'll come out."

"Okay."

Su Bai parked the car on the side of the road and dialed Mu Qing's number.

"I'm here, which intersection are you at?"

"Let me come out and look..." There was the sound of footsteps on the other end, and then Mu Qing's voice went up an octave. "I see you! Is that black car yours?"

Su Bai looked out the window. At the entrance of a residential area by the side of the road, Mu Qing was standing there, holding her phone in one hand and pulling a suitcase with the other, peering in his direction.

She was wearing a yellow down jacket, light blue jeans, and white sneakers. Her hair was tied in a high ponytail, and her face was makeup-free, looking clean, pure, and beautiful.

Su Bai honked the horn.

Mu Qing immediately smiled and trotted over, pulling her suitcase.

Su Bai got out of the car and helped her open the trunk.

Mu Qing put the suitcase inside, closed the trunk lid, and turned to look at him.

She tilted her head up, her eyes sparkling, with a smile on her face. "You came so fast!" she said with a grin.

Su Bai leaned against the car door. "There wasn't much traffic."

"How are we going? High-speed rail or airplane?"

"Airplane. Let's go, we're heading to the airport now."

Mu Qing looked distressed. "But I haven't bought a plane ticket yet."

Su Bai opened the passenger door. "You don't need to worry about that. Get in."

Mu Qing obediently sat inside and fastened her seatbelt.

Su Bai walked around to the driver's seat, sat in, and started the engine. The car slowly drove out of the residential area entrance.

"Your mom didn't get suspicious?" Su Bai seemed to care a lot about this.

Mu Qing leaned back in the chair and let out a long sigh, patting her ample chest. "Probably not," she paused, "but she asked me to send her photos every day."

"Then what are you going to do? What if she asks you to take a picture of the female classmate?"

Mu Qing thought for a moment and said with an indifferent expression, "We'll deal with it when we get to Hainan. I'll just snap a few landscape photos to bluff my way through it."

Su Bai smiled and didn't say anything more.

An hour and a half later, the car drove into the parking lot of Jingzhou Airport.

Su Bai found a spot near the exit, parked, and turned off the engine.

Mu Qing unfastened her seatbelt and pushed open the car door. The cold wind rushed in, and she shrank her neck. "So cold."

She wrapped her down jacket tighter around herself.

Su Bai took the two suitcases out of the trunk and carried one in each hand as they walked toward the terminal.

Mu Qing followed behind him, looking at his back.

He was wearing a black short down jacket, open, revealing a grey hoodie underneath. His shoulders were broad, his waist narrow, and his legs were long and straight. He walked with an air of confidence.

He's just too handsome!

Her eyes sparkled with stars, and she had to jog a few steps to catch up and walk side-by-side with him.

They hadn't even arrived yet, and she was already starting to look forward to this trip!
