107: Chapter 106 Shut Him Up
Long Wu stood beside Su Bai, holding an umbrella, as Su Bai stepped into the hotel.
He arrived at the door of the room Song Qian had opened and knocked.
Soon, the door opened a crack, revealing Song Qian's cautious face.
Her hair was loose and somewhat messy, with a few strands sticking to her face.
Her eyes were red and swollen; one look was enough to tell she had been crying for a long time.
When she saw Su Bai, she froze for a moment, her whole body trembling.
Su Bai walked inside.
She reached out and grabbed his clothes, her fingers gripping so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
She wasn't crying; she just clutched his clothes, looking at him, her lips trembling violently.
"M-Master..."
"I'm here," Su Bai said.
Song Qian's tears fell instantly.
It wasn't a loud, wailing cry, but a silent one. Tears welled up from her eyes, streaming down her cheeks, drop by drop, landing on his clothes.
Su Bai reached out, wrapped his arm around her shoulders, and pulled her into his embrace.
Her body shook violently, convulsing with sobs.
Su Bai held her with one arm and gently patted her back with the other.
Seeing this, Long Wu and Long Qi stood at the doorway, looking straight ahead.
Su Bai carried Song Qian into the room.
Song Qian lifted her head from Su Bai's embrace. Her eyes were as swollen as peaches, her nose tip was red, and her lips were chapped with several thin, bloody cuts.
"Master, I'm sorry."
Her voice was so hoarse it was almost inaudible.
"I shouldn't have bothered you..."
"Don't say anything more."
Su Bai interrupted her, pulled out a chair for her to sit, and sat down opposite her.
Long Wu and Long Qi did not enter, standing at the doorway, one on the left and one on the right, like two door gods.
"Tell me in detail again, what is the situation now?"
Song Qian lowered her head and murmured,
"My brother owes over 1.3 million this time."
Her voice was very calm, as if she were talking about someone else's affairs.
"I originally thought he had really changed for the better, but I didn't expect... he hasn't changed his ways at all, and he's even done something worse!"
"There were over a dozen people collecting the debt. When they arrived at our house, they started turning everything upside down. They took the few tens of thousands of yuan in my parents' last remaining savings account and threatened us to pay the money back as soon as possible, otherwise, with interest rolling on interest, we would only end up owing more."
"My parents said we didn't have any money, and they had completely given up on my brother, but these people... they actually wanted to make me..."
Su Bai frowned but didn't speak, waiting for her to continue.
"They said if I didn't come to pay the money today, they would take me away."
She looked up at Su Bai, looking pitiful.
"They said... I could sell for a good price."
"Where is your brother?" Su Bai's voice became somewhat cold.
Song Qian shook her head.
"I don't know. He ran away yesterday. I don't know where he's hiding, and he won't answer my mother's calls."
She smiled, a bitter smile.
"It's always like this every time. He runs away after owing money, and before he runs, he calls me, 'Sister, save me.'"
"And then... I sell myself."
She lowered her head, clenching her fingers.
"But this time is different. Last time it was selling myself to you, but this time..." She didn't finish.
Su Bai stood up.
"Let's go."
Song Qian looked up, looking bewildered.
"Where to?"
"Your home."
Song Qian's body tensed up.
She shook her head, shaking it vigorously as if trying to shake some dirty things out of her mind.
"Don't go... I don't want to see their disgusting faces..."
Su Bai looked at her and said patiently,
"It's okay, I'm here."
Song Qian looked at Su Bai, his expression calm.
But there was something in his eyes that could not be refused.
She lowered her head and nodded gently.
Su Bai pulled her, turned, and walked out.
Song Qian followed behind, her steps unsteady.
Long Wu and Long Qi followed like guards. After going downstairs, Long Wu opened the back door.
Su Bai sat in first, and Song Qian followed, sitting beside him.
The car door closed, and the sound of the rain quieted down.
"Cang County Chemical Plant residential area." Song Qian gave an address.
Long Qi nodded and started the engine.
Song Qian sat beside Su Bai, her hands on her knees, clutching the zipper pull of her down jacket.
Her fingers were still trembling.
Su Bai reached out and covered her hand with his.
Song Qian looked down at that warm, large hand, and tears fell again.
Su Bai remained expressionless and did not offer any verbal comfort.
The car drove for about twenty minutes before turning into an old residential area.
On both sides of the road were five- or six-story buildings, the paint on their exterior walls peeling off, revealing the grey concrete underneath.
Various electrical wires were strung between the buildings, and half of the streetlights were broken, casting a small, weak patch of light on the ground.
The residential area in the rain was very quiet, with the occasional dog barking, and the place was filled with a sense of desolation.
Long Qi parked the car in front of one of the buildings.
Song Qian looked at the building outside the window, her body tensing up again.
"It's here," her voice was very soft, "the third floor."
Su Bai pushed open the car door, and the cold wind rushed in.
He got out of the car and walked to the other side to open the door.
Song Qian sat inside without moving, her hands still clutching the seatbelt, her knuckles white.
"Get out," Su Bai said.
Song Qian looked up at him.
There was fear in her eyes, a deep fear.
"Don't worry," Su Bai reached out his hand, "trust me."
Song Qian looked at that hand for a few seconds, and finally released the seatbelt, placing her hand into his palm.
Su Bai gripped it tightly and pulled her out of the car.
The hallway was very dark, the voice-activated lights were broken, and there was only a bit of grey light leaking in from the entrance.
The third floor.
Two people were standing at the top of the stairs.
These were two young men, in their early twenties, wearing colorful, flashy clothes, dressed like punks, leaning against the wall smoking, bored.
The cigarette butts glowed in the darkness, like the eyes of two beasts.
Seeing Song Qian, the two men immediately stood up straight, threw their cigarette butts on the ground, and crushed them with their feet.
One of them, who had dyed yellow hair, let his gaze slide slowly down from Song Qian's face, circled her body, and then slid back up, his eyes gleaming.
"Yo, little beauty, you're back?"
He laughed, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth.
"Still worried about your parents?"
"My big brother already said, if you dare not to come back, we'll break your dad's leg again!"
The other man pushed him, wearing a lewd smile on his face.
"Don't scare the beauty."
"It's okay, little sister, as long as you are obedient, brothers will take good care of you."
"In our eyes, you are quite valuable."
Song Qian's body trembled, and she subconsciously shrank behind Su Bai.
Seeing someone behind Song Qian, the two punks immediately turned fierce and shouted,
"Oh? You dare to call someone over? In Cang County, who dares to act wildly on my big brother's turf."
"Where did this blind thing come from!"
"Daring to interfere in our business, are you looking for death!"
Su Bai didn't even look at these two people. He turned his head and said coldly to Long Qi,
"I don't want to hear him blabbering anymore. Make him shut up."
"Yes!"
Long Qi immediately stepped forward.
Before the yellow-haired guy could react, Long Qi's hand had already slapped over!
This move was very fast, so fast that the naked eye could barely see it!
Only a "slap" sound was heard!
It was crisp, like the sound of bones breaking!
The yellow-haired guy instantly tilted to the side, his head hitting the wall with a dull thud.
He opened his mouth in pain, and blood gushed out, mixed with a few white things.
Four or five teeth fell to the ground, reflecting light in the dim hallway.
He clutched his face, squatted down, and let out an incoherent wail.
"Ah!!!"
The other punk was stunned, subconsciously took a step back, reached into his jacket, and pulled out a switchblade!
Long Qi didn't give him a chance to act. He stepped forward and punched him in the stomach!
The man immediately bent over, his face showing pain.
Long Qi followed up with an elbow to his back, and he collapsed limply to the ground, his face pressed against the cold concrete floor, motionless.
The hallway fell quiet, with only the incoherent wailing of the yellow-haired guy, whimpering like a dog with its tail stepped on.
Su Bai looked down at him, then at the one lying on the ground, and then turned to look at Song Qian.
Song Qian stood behind him, her hand still clutching his clothes, her body trembling.
She looked at the two debt collectors on the ground, at the blood and teeth, and the fear in her heart faded a little.
It was as if the stone that had been pressing on her heart had been moved aside a little, letting in a little light.
They walked into the door on the left on the third floor. The security door was already deformed, with traces of being pried open left on the door frame, and the paint was peeling off.
The door was ajar, and it was very quiet inside.
Su Bai pushed the door open and walked in with long strides.
