136: Chapter 135 Wrong Room, Right Person

By the time Su Bai arrived home, it was already broad daylight.

The living room was very quiet, the curtains were drawn, and the light was dim, with only a sliver of greyish-white light seeping in from the direction of the kitchen.

He changed his shoes, didn't turn on the lights, and walked toward his room in the dark.

The hallway wasn't long, but he was so exhausted that his eyelids felt like they were filled with lead, and every step felt like he was walking on cotton.

He pushed open a door, walked in, and saw a lumpy duvet on the bed.

After pulling it back, he saw a soft, squishy figure under the duvet.

He couldn't be bothered to move elsewhere, so he simply took off his shoes, lifted the duvet, lay down, and reached out to hug the person.

She was very soft and warm, carrying a faint scent of body fragrance.

He closed his eyes, and his consciousness began to sink.

The person in his arms woke up with a start.

Her body tensed up like a drawn bow, her mouth opened, and a scream was already at the edge of her throat.

Su Bai's hand was faster, covering her mouth,

"Don't speak, I'm too tired, go to sleep."

His voice was muffled and slurred, heavy with sleepiness, as if squeezed out from a dream.

The person in his arms froze, motionless, like a cat held by the scruff of its neck.

Her heart was beating fast; through her thin pajamas, he could feel that rapid vibration, thump, thump, thump, like someone beating a drum.

He didn't pay it any mind, tightened his arms a little, pulled her closer into his embrace, buried his face in her hair, and fell into a deep sleep.

Lin Qiaoyou kept her eyes open, staring at the ceiling in the darkness.

Her heart was beating fast, so fast it felt like it was about to jump out of her chest.

Su Bai's hand rested on her waist; it was heavy and hot, and through the fabric of her pajamas, she could feel the temperature of his palm.

His breath blew against the back of her neck, hot and ticklish.

She wanted to move, but didn't dare to.

Su Bai's breathing was heavy and even; he was already asleep.

She slowly relaxed, like a string that had been twisted too tight, loosening bit by bit.

She burrowed into his arms, found a comfortable position, pressed her face against his chest, and listened to his strong heartbeat.

"What did you do last night?" Her voice was very soft, so soft it was as if she were afraid of disturbing something, "You're so tired."

Su Bai didn't even open his eyes, his lips moved, and his voice was muffled,

"Hmm... I accidentally fell into the Cave of the Silk Web."

Lin Qiaoyou didn't understand.

What was the Cave of the Silk Web?

She burrowed into his arms again, wanting to change positions.

Su Bai's hand slapped her on the butt, not hard, but it made a loud sound,

"Don't move around."

Lin Qiaoyou's face flushed red instantly, and she obediently stopped moving.

She lay in his arms, listening to his heartbeat, counting that thump, thump, thump sound—one, two, three—and she didn't know at what count she also fell asleep.

By the time Su Bai woke up, sunlight had already squeezed in through the gap in the curtains, drawing a golden line on the bed sheet.

He squinted his eyes and saw a fluffy head resting on his chest, hair disheveled, covering half of her face.

He froze for a moment, then remembered—he had walked into the wrong room this morning.

This wasn't his room; it was Lin Qiaoyou's.

The person in his arms moved and lifted her head.

Lin Qiaoyou looked at him with big eyes, her expression innocent, like a child who had done something wrong but didn't know what.

Her face was flushed, her hair was a mess, and the collar of her pajamas was crooked, revealing a sliver of her fair shoulder.

Su Bai smiled, reached out, and gently pinched her cheek,

"Morning, Sister Qiaoyou."

Lin Qiaoyou's face turned even redder,

"It's not morning anymore, it's already afternoon."

Su Bai turned his head to look at the sunlight filtering through the gap in the curtains; it was indeed afternoon light, leaning towards the west, with an orange hue.

He stretched, sat up, and picked up his phone from the nightstand to check—2:40 PM.

He had slept for nearly six hours.

Last night, between drinking, dancing, and finally subduing two demons, he had been worn out.

It was lucky he insisted on working out regularly; otherwise, he really wouldn't have been able to handle it.

Can't slack off! Need to do two more sets of squats next time!

"It's so late already."

He put on his shoes, stood up,

"Sister Qiaoyou, are you hungry? I'll go make you something to eat."

Lin Qiaoyou hurriedly scrambled out of bed and blocked his path.

She lowered her head, twisting the hem of her pajamas with her fingers, her voice as small as a mosquito's hum,

"Don't! I, I'll go out first. In case they're in the living room and see you coming out of my room... I..."

She didn't finish, but Su Bai understood.

Su Bai shrugged and said nonchalantly,

"Fine."

Lin Qiaoyou opened the door and poked her head out to look; the hallway was empty, no one was there.

She walked out and gently closed the door behind her.

After a while, the door was pushed open a crack, and her little head poked in, whispering:

"No one's here, you can come out."

Su Bai walked out nonchalantly, crossed the hallway, and went into the kitchen.

He opened the fridge, took out two steaks, and left them at room temperature to thaw.

Then he took a frying pan from the cabinet, placed it on the stove, and turned on low heat to warm it up.

Lin Qiaoyou finished washing up, changed into a new set of clothes, and came to the dining room.

She was wearing a milky white sweater and light blue jeans, her hair tied in a low ponytail, with nothing on her face—clean, fair, and tender, full of collagen.

Su Bai brought the seared steaks to the table, one serving for each, with a side of broccoli and a few pieces of sweet potato.

Lin Qiaoyou sat opposite him, picked up her knife and fork, cut a small piece, put it in her mouth, chewed, and swallowed.

"Delicious."

As the two were eating, Chu Yi came out of her room, yawning.

She was wearing a pink hoodie, her hair was messy, and her eyes were half-open and half-closed, like a sleepy little kitten.

Smelling something, her nose twitched, her eyes brightened, and following the aroma, she came to the dining room, seeing the steak on the table, her eyes brightened even more.

"Su Bai, you made food." Her voice still had that post-waking rasp.

Su Bai smiled and used a fork to spear a piece of steak and place it in front of Chu Yi.

Chu Yi opened her mouth and swallowed it in one bite, chewed, and her eyes lit up,

"It's delicious!"

Her voice suddenly became clear, all sleepiness gone.

Su Bai pushed his own portion toward her,

"Then you eat my portion first; I'll go fry another one."

Chu Yi didn't stand on ceremony, nodded, sat down, and started eating.

Su Bai fried another steak, brought it back, and sat down.

The three of them sat around the dining table, eating steak and chatting.

Chu Yi said she had been binge-watching shows until 3 AM last night and couldn't get up at all this morning.

Lin Qiaoyou ate quietly, occasionally glancing at Su Bai, then quickly looking away.

Su Bai ate quickly, cleared the plates when finished, and washed them by the way.

Chu Yi rubbed her stomach, leaned back in her chair, and sighed,

"So boring. School is about to start, and I feel like I haven't really played much."

Su Bai leaned against the kitchen door frame, wiping his hands,

"How about... I take you two out to play this afternoon?"

Chu Yi immediately bounced up from her chair, as if there were springs under her butt,

"Yay! Yay!"

She turned to look at Lin Qiaoyou, "Sister Qiaoyou, you come too, okay?"

Lin Qiaoyou hesitated,

"Huh? I'm going too?"

Su Bai looked at her and smiled,

"Of course."

Lin Qiaoyou lowered her head, drawing circles on the tablecloth with her fingers,

"Then... then okay."

Chu Yi suggested excitedly,

"Let's go to the amusement park! We haven't been in a long time; I want to ride the roller coaster!"

Su Bai nodded,

"Sure."

Immediately, the two women went back to their rooms to change clothes, and Su Bai waited in the living room for a while.

Chu Yi came out first, wearing a white hoodie and black yoga pants, which wrapped around her little butt, making it look round and perky.

Lin Qiaoyou came out later, wearing a brown turtleneck sweater and tight jeans.

The sweater was thick, but it couldn't hide the curves of her upper body, which were plump and swayed slightly when she walked.

The jeans were stretched tight over her thighs, outlining the shape of her flesh—a top-tier, slightly chubby figure, just right.
