155: Chapter 154 Take Me
Su Bai followed behind her, his pace neither fast nor slow.
She ran to the building entrance and stopped, turning back to look at him, her face flushed red, not knowing if it was from running or some other reason.
"You walk so slowly," she said.
Su Bai walked over and stood beside her.
Chu Yi took out her keys and opened the unit door, and the two walked in one after another.
Chu Yi opened the door to her home and walked inside; there was no one in the living room.
"Where are they?" Su Bai asked.
Chu Yi put her bag on the sofa, collapsed onto it, and buried her face in a throw pillow.
"I don't know…" her voice came out muffled from the pillow.
Su Bai sat down beside her.
Chu Yi turned over, facing him, her legs curled up on the sofa, her toenails painted a pale pink.
"Come on, let's go to my room."
She sat up and pulled him into her bedroom.
The room was very clean, and the bed was made neatly.
There were a few books stacked on the desk, with a desk lamp next to them; the lampshade was pink.
Chu Yi closed the door, turned around, and looked at him.
She leaned against the door panel, hands behind her back, tilting her head with a smirk on her lips.
"Were you with another woman last night?"
Su Bai looked at her.
"Why do you ask?"
Chu Yi pouted.
"You have someone else's scent on you."
She walked over, got close to him, and sniffed his clothes.
"It's not the scent of Sister Luo Ying or the others, it's… someone else's."
She stepped back and looked up at him.
"Who is it?"
Su Bai didn't speak.
Chu Yi looked at him for a few seconds, then smiled.
"Forget it, I won't ask. Anyway, sooner or later, you'll be mine."
She reached out, took his hand, and pulled him to the edge of the bed, making him sit down.
She stood in front of him, looking down.
"Can you sit with me today?"
Su Bai looked at her.
"What for?"
Chu Yi looked up into his eyes.
Her eyes were bright, reflecting the sunlight from the window, her own reflection, and something else.
"Whatever you want to do."
Su Bai looked at her.
Her face was flushed, her ears were red, and her neck was red too.
She pursed her lips, did so for a moment, then opened them.
Su Bai watched her.
Her eyelashes were trembling, and her eyes were a little red.
"Sister Chu Yi."
"Hmm."
"Come here."
Chu Yi looked up at him.
Su Bai reached out, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her over.
She stumbled a step and fell into his arms.
Su Bai held her; her body was soft and warm, and she pressed against him, unwilling to move.
"Do you… want me?"
Chu Yi waited a while, and not getting an answer, she looked up into his eyes.
Su Bai lowered his head, and Chu Yi closed her eyes.
Su Bai's hand moved from her waist up to her back, pulling her closer.
Her body pressed against his, and through their thin T-shirts, he could feel her heartbeat—it was fast, like someone beating a drum.
Su Bai laid her down on the bed.
The bed was soft; she sank into it, her hair spread out on the pillow, black against the light blue pillowcase.
Her face was flushed, her eyes half-open and half-closed, her eyelashes trembling.
Her T-shirt was wrinkled, the neckline askew, revealing a section of her collarbone.
"Su Bai," she called him, her voice very soft, as if in a dream.
Su Bai looked at her and reached out to tuck a strand of loose hair behind her ear.
Chu Yi grabbed his hand, pressed it against her cheek, and rubbed against it.
The curtains billowed in the breeze, then fell back down.
The sunlight moved across the floor, shifting from one side to the other.
A long time passed; Su Bai leaned against the headboard, with Chu Yi lying on his chest.
Her face was flushed, her eyes closed, and her lips slightly swollen.
Her hair was spread over his arm, slippery and smooth.
"Su Bai."
"Can you spend more time with me in the future?"
Su Bai looked down at her.
Her face was buried in his chest, only half of it visible, her ears red.
"We'll see."
Chu Yi pouted but didn't say anything, burying her face deeper into his embrace.
"I've realized that when you say 'we'll see,' it means you don't agree," she said, her voice muffled.
Su Bai didn't speak.
"If you don't say anything, I'll take it as you agreeing."
She looked up, kissed his chin, then retreated, burying her face in his neck like a cat that had found its den.
Su Bai reached out and stroked her hair.
"Chu Yi."
"Aren't you going on a study tour tomorrow? Have you packed your things?"
Chu Yi's body stiffened.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner!"
Su Bai looked at her.
Chu Yi jumped off the bed, her bare feet on the carpet, ran to the desk, opened her backpack, and dumped everything out.
Books and notebooks clattered across the desk.
"It's over, it's over, it's over. I still have a few research reports to write."
She turned her head to look at Su Bai, her eyes reddening again.
"Su Bai, can you help me write them?"
Su Bai looked at her and smiled.
"No."
Chu Yi pouted, her lips sticking out so high you could hang an oil bottle on them.
She turned back, picked up her pen, and started writing.
The pen scratched rapidly across the paper; she was writing so fast the letters seemed to fly.
Su Bai got up from the bed, got dressed, walked over, and stood behind her.
Chu Yi wrote two lines, stopped, turned around, and looked up at him.
"I can't write with you standing here."
"Why?"
Chu Yi lowered her head, her voice as quiet as a mosquito's hum.
"You're too close to me."
Su Bai smiled and stepped back.
Chu Yi turned back to continue writing, the pen scratching across the paper even faster.
Su Bai leaned against the wall next to the desk, watching her.
She kept her head down, her ponytail hanging down, revealing the fine hairs on the back of her neck.
Sunlight shone in through the window, falling on her; her ears were almost transparent in the light.
Chu Yi finished a test paper and glanced back.
Su Bai was still leaning against the wall, watching her.
"Su Bai."
"Can you stop looking at me?"
"Why?"
"Whenever you look at me, I get flustered, and when I get flustered, I can't write."
Su Bai smiled, turned, and went to sit on the edge of the bed.
Chu Yi took a small mirror from the desk, propped it up, and adjusted the angle so she could see Su Bai in the mirror.
Su Bai saw the mirror and smiled.
"Didn't you say you get flustered when I'm around?"
Chu Yi's face flushed.
"I'm not looking at you, I'm looking at the mirror."
Su Bai smiled and didn't speak.
Chu Yi lowered her head and continued writing.
The pen scratched across the paper, writing very fast.
In the mirror, Su Bai was leaning against the headboard, watching her.
She didn't dare look up at the mirror, keeping her head down, her pen flying across the paper.
Having finished the last test paper, Chu Yi threw down her pen, collapsed onto the desk, and let out a long sigh.
"Finished."
Her voice was listless.
Su Bai stood up and walked over.
Chu Yi was lying on the desk, her face buried in her arms, her ponytail hanging over the edge like a black waterfall.
Su Bai reached out and stroked her head.
"Time to eat."
Chu Yi looked up into his eyes.
Her face was flushed, her eyes bright, and there was a pen mark on her forehead that she must have accidentally rubbed on at some point.
"You're treating me."
Su Bai smiled.
"Fine."
Chu Yi smiled too.
She stood up, took his hand, and the two walked out of the room.
There was still no one in the living room.
The two left the house one after another, went downstairs, and walked along the concrete path of the residential compound.
