118: First game after the breakthrough

"Lord, urgent news has come from the docks. They say a water monster is attacking the pier."

A member of the Guard Army rushed over to report the unexpected news to Renn, who was currently overseeing the construction of the city walls.

"A water monster?"

Renn called Reck and hurried to the dock area.

"I want to see exactly what kind of creature dares to attack my docks."

Renn, who had recently made a breakthrough, had been wanting to test his strength. Now that a practice target had conveniently delivered itself to his door, he was itching for a fight.

In the blink of an eye, Renn arrived at the docks.

At this moment, the dock area was flooded with river water, and various debris was scattered everywhere by the current.

As soon as Renn arrived, he saw that the previously calm Red Sand River was now turbulent, with massive waves constantly surging and crashing against the Red River Territory's docks.

Fishing boats were rocking violently in the waves, and a few were even starting to show signs of damage.

"You dare destroy my fishing boats? You're looking for death!"

Renn drew his bow and notched an arrow. A sharp arrow glowing with golden light instantly shot into the river.

Renn could sense a massive creature stirring up trouble within the Red Sand River.

As the arrow Renn fired plunged into the water, it blasted several waves into the air, and a shrill roar echoed from within the river.

Several thick pillars of water then shot out from the river, heading straight for Renn.

wind elementals surged violently around White Wolf Leike. With a few leaps, he easily dodged the water pillars while carrying Renn onto the Red River, subsequently galloping across the water's surface.

Renn took out a steel spear from his spatial ring. Golden battle qi surged and coated the spear before Renn threw it with all his might.

The turbulent river water was pierced by the golden spear, creating a large hole that revealed the scene inside: a giant, monstrous fish was roaring and twisting its body in the water, trying to evade the spear's attack.

Unfortunately, Renn wouldn't give it the chance. As Reck leaped into the air, Renn's hands moved so fast they left afterimages as he threw several more spears in rapid succession.

Several large holes instantly appeared in the Red River's water, followed by a massive amount of blood gushing out, turning the river's surface even more crimson.

With a few leaps, Reck returned gracefully to the docks. Renn looked at the river surface with confidence.

After a moment, the river returned to calm, and the corpse of a giant monstrous fish floated to the surface.

The monstrous fish was dozens of meters long and several meters wide and high—truly a massive beast.

Several spears were embedded deep in the corpse, having blasted large bloody holes in the monstrous fish. The most fatal wound was on its head.

A steel spear had shattered the fish's hard skull and penetrated deep into its head. The powerful golden battle qi had already churned its brains into a pulp.

"Pull the monstrous fish's corpse back. We're having an extra dish tonight!"

"Yes, Lord!"

Kent and the others, who had been watching from the sidelines, looked at everything that had happened in stunned silence.

Only a few breaths had passed from the start of the battle to its end. Many fishermen hadn't even realized what was happening before it was over.

Kent and the others only saw Renn riding the white wolf into the air, followed by the appearance of glowing golden spears in his hands. The golden spears, like divine punishment, fell into the water and blasted the river open, directly killing the water monster hidden beneath.

Seeing Renn return to the docks, the fishermen subconsciously knelt on the ground, welcoming his return as if they were welcoming a god.

They only stood up once Kent received Renn's order to have the fishermen pull back the monstrous fish's corpse.

Looking at the monstrous fish's corpse floating on the river, Renn roughly estimated that it weighed at least a dozen tons—enough to feed the Guard Army for several days.

"It was a magical beast at the High Silver Rank. The size of these aquatic magical beasts really far exceeds that of ordinary land beasts!"

Renn judged the magical beast's strength based on its reactions and aura fluctuations during the fight.

An aquatic magical beast of the High Silver Rank was already quite powerful.

Although Renn's kill appeared clean and effortless, it was entirely because he had broken through to the Gold Rank, resulting in a qualitative leap in his power.

Had he still been at the Silver Peak, killing this monstrous fish would have required a great deal of effort, and he might not have even succeeded.

After all, the monstrous fish was an aquatic beast. If he couldn't kill it quickly and it escaped, Renn wouldn't have been able to dive into the water to pursue it.

Soon, the monstrous fish's corpse was dragged ashore. Renn extracted its magic core and fed it directly to Reck beneath him. Reck's strength was in urgent need of improvement, so this magic core came at just the right time.

After taking the magic core, Renn instructed Kent to find people to pull the monstrous fish back to the Red River Fortress.

"I'll have Fornal send people over shortly to finish the repairs on the docks. Were there any losses among the fishing boats?"

Kent wiped the water from his face and replied:

"Lord, I spotted the water monster early, so no fishing boats were sunk. However, a few boats at the dock were damaged by the shockwaves of its attacks. It's not serious, though; they just need some repairs."

"The fishing boats must be repaired as soon as possible. Talk to Fornal if you need anything. The work of the fishing team cannot stop."

"I'll have the Guard Army station a squad here permanently. That way, we can respond faster to magical beast attacks."

"You must also stay vigilant. Aquatic magical beasts move quite stealthily. Be careful and don't let them ambush you. Report any attacks to the Guard Army immediately."

"Yes, Lord. We will definitely be careful."

Renn gave Kent thorough instructions. This was the first time Renn had encountered an aquatic magical beast; he hadn't run into one before.

This also served as a reminder to Renn that it was necessary to station a permanent squad of the Guard Army at the docks to monitor the Red River and protect the territory's safety.

Having dealt with the monstrous fish, Renn returned to Red River Town to continue building the territory.

After the monstrous fish's corpse was dragged back, it sparked another wave of heated discussion in Red River Town. The image of Renn's formidable strength was now deeply ingrained in the minds of the people.

Ultimately, the high-quality magical beast meat from the monstrous fish provided a massive boost to the Red River Territory's Guard Army, leading to the birth of many Black Iron Rank warriors over the following days.

Originally, the Red River Territory Guard Army consisted of 700 veterans and 600 recruits, totaling 1,300 men. Later, Renn selected another 200 strong young men to join, bringing the size of the Guard Army to 1,500.

After nearly two months of training, the batch of recruits enlisted later had been gradually integrated into the official ranks of the Guard Army.

This also resulted in a significant boost to the Red River Territory's military strength.

However, an even greater leap in strength was coming soon. Renn had been looking forward to the second batch of potions being brewed by Kapdo to enhance the Red River Territory's foundation.

"The magical beast meat from this monstrous fish came at just the right time. It allowed many warriors to break through to the Black Iron Rank and Bronze Rank. Now there will be more candidates to take clansias blessing later."

Renn was very satisfied with the Guard Army's recent performance. This army, which he had built with his own hands, was rapidly taking shape and growing stronger at an incredible pace.

"It's just that the weapons and equipment are still a bit lacking. There isn't enough Enchanted Equipment to go around!"

"The scales of this monstrous fish are actually excellent transcendent materials that can be used to craft transcendent equipment. Unfortunately, the territory doesn't have a transcendent blacksmith yet."

As the number of Bronze Rank warriors in the Guard Army grew rapidly, Renn had already distributed many of the Enchanted Equipment he had acquired previously.

According to Renn's estimates, once Kapdo finished brewing the potions, the number of Bronze Rank and Silver Rank warriors in the territory would surge, and the Enchanted Equipment in his hands would no longer be enough.

"I'll have to get Holland and Watt to work a bit harder!"
