76: Run, wolf! Run, wolf!
Pulling out an enchanted longbow, Renn drew the string and loosed an arrow at the Ogre in the very front.
A silver light flashed. The Ogre Brothers charging at the front felt a chill in their hearts; their innate battle instincts made them subconsciously raise their arms to protect their heads.
In the next second, one of the Ogre Brothers was sent flying backward.
A refined steel arrow pierced through the arm shielding his head and embedded itself in his skull, the powerful impact flipping him directly onto the ground.
Seeing this, his brother's eyes instantly turned blood-red. His muscles writhed frantically as he accelerated his charge, but in the next second, a refined steel arrow struck him as well.
Facing the powerful impact, the prepared Ogre wasn't knocked over this time; instead, he managed to block the arrow.
Looking down at the large iron club snapped in his hands, a chill rose in the Ogre's heart. The strength of the human opposite him seemed much greater than he had imagined.
This made him recall not long ago when he and his elder brother faced that powerful human knight who had driven them to despair.
"No, how can there be so many powerful human knights?"
The Ogre found it hard to believe, but he had no chance to think further.
The chill in his heart surged again as even more refined steel arrows flew toward the Ogres.
Renn, Ross, and Wayne, the three Silver Knights, held their enchanted longbows, continuously picking off the charging Ogres.
The massive Ogres were nearly helpless against the snipes of the three Silver Knights. The Silver Knights' fire rate was extremely fast, loosing several arrows per second, making it impossible for the Ogres to close the distance.
Having exhausted his arrows, Renn mounted Reck and charged toward the last few surviving Ogres.
Nearly twenty Ogres had refined steel arrows sticking out of them to varying degrees, yet one had to admit the Ogres possessed tough bodies and exuberant vitality.
Injuries that would be fatal to an ordinary person were merely somewhat serious wounds for an Ogre.
Renn saw that the Ogre leader, whom he had shot several times in vital spots, was actually still struggling on the ground, refusing to die.
He stepped forward and decapitated the Ogre with a single sword strike, finally ending its life.
Ross and Wayne followed behind Renn, quickly finishing off the nearby Ogres.
Suddenly, a large fireball flew in from the distance.
"Everyone, get out of the way!"
Renn sensed the incoming fireball in advance and warned the surrounding knights. The Magic Wolf Knights steered their magic wolves to deftly dodge the fireball's attack.
The massive fireball landed where Renn had just been standing, followed by a violent explosion.
"What a powerful Bursting Fireball. Is it that Goblin Prophet?"
Renn looked in the direction the fireball had come from.
In the distance, the Goblin Prophet was also staring at Renn, who had dodged his attack.
"Idiot Ogres, all of them idiots! Their chieftain just died and they still haven't learned. Why did they charge so fast? They deserve to be wiped out!"
The Goblin Prophet hadn't expected the Ogres to launch a charge ahead of time, nor that they would be so fast.
By the time he and the other tribal leaders hurried over, they saw Renn harvesting the Ogres' heads. The once-powerful Ogre Brothers were now two headless corpses.
The other Ogres also lay on the ground as cold corpses.
"Don't fight him head-on. Wait for the main army to arrive and surround them!"
The Goblin Prophet wasn't brainless like the Ogres, and the other tribal leaders nearby, seeing the fate of the Ogre Brothers, had no intention of risking their lives against Renn.
A large number of non-humans began to appear around them. As the number of their kin increased, the tribal leaders regained their confidence.
Meanwhile, the Goblin Prophet muttered incantations, intending to continue casting.
Seeing that the Goblin Prophet wasn't charging forward, Renn immediately made arrangements.
"Cavalry Squad and Magic Wolf Knights, charge with me! Infantry Squad, hold your ground and standby."
Then, Renn took the lead and charged straight toward the Goblin Prophet.
To complete his plan, the Goblin Prophet had to die.
White Wolf Leike was extremely fast, approaching the Goblin Prophet like a bolt of white lightning.
The tribal leaders were shocked to see that Renn, instead of fleeing, was charging toward them.
"Is this human really this fierce?"
The Gnoll looked at the charging Renn in disbelief.
Sensing Renn's movement, the Goblin Prophet shouted:
"Protect me while I cast! Stop him! Don't let that human knight get near me!"
The tribal leaders glanced at each other and eventually stood in front of the Goblin Prophet.
Renn drew his longbow to its limit and fired several rapid-fire arrows, instantly emptying the refined steel arrows he had just recovered.
After stowing his bow, Renn could already see the faces of the tribal leaders standing before the Goblin Prophet.
"Rushing Wolf Slash!"
The silhouette of a white wolf, condensed from battle qi, pounced like lightning toward the non-human leader at the very front.
The Gnoll leader on the other side was pale with fright, feeling as if a mountain were pressing down on him; his only thought was to dodge.
"Get out of the way! If I don't move, I'll die."
A few of the more clever tribal leaders scattered to the sides. They only felt a powerful surge of energy erupting behind them, followed by a massive explosion that rang in their ears.
When the leaders looked back, they found that the Gnome leader who had been standing with them was gone. In the spot where they had stood, only a large crater remained, containing fragments of shattered flesh.
"Such powerful strength!"
The tribal leaders all had the strength of the Silver Initial Rank, but they lacked powerful innate talents. Facing such a formidable battle technique, they looked at each other with lingering fear.
"Oh no!"
"The Goblin old man's side!"
The Kobold Chieftain looked back at the Goblin Prophet who had been casting spells behind them.
After using Rushing Wolf Slash to kill the Gnome Chieftain, Renn bypassed the remaining tribal leaders and headed straight for the Goblin Prophet.
The Goblin Prophet, who had been observing the battlefield, decisively stopped his casting upon seeing Renn use the battle technique and fled toward the depths of the army behind him.
He hadn't expected those tribal leaders to tie down Renn and protect him at all.
As it turned out, the Goblin Prophet was right. Facing Renn's powerful attack, the tribal leaders had immediately chosen to dodge, allowing Renn to drive straight in.
"Those idiots are completely useless!"
The Goblin Prophet cursed as he fled. Since the Ogres had messed up the rhythm at the beginning, the plan had spiraled out of his control.
According to the original plan, he should have been in the middle of the tribal army, commanding them to surround and kill the human knights. No matter how strong a Silver Knight was, they couldn't stand against an army of tens of thousands, especially with several Silver-rank leaders backing them up.
But now, he was being chased and hacked at by a human knight, while several tribal leaders hesitated on the sidelines, afraid to step forward.
Fortunately, he hadn't left the ranks. With just a few more steps, he could return to the center of the army and turn around to slaughter the human knight behind him.
"Almost there, almost there!"
After casting an acceleration spell on himself, the Goblin Prophet quickly fled back into the army.
Behind him, Renn seemed not to notice the non-human warriors gradually closing in around him.
Beneath him, Reck let out a long howl. wind elementals surged under his feet, causing his speed to skyrocket as his entire body bounded through the air, quickly catching up to the Goblin Prophet.
"Rushing Wolf Slash!"
Renn ignored the attacks from the other non-human grunts around him and went straight for the Goblin Prophet.
"How can he be so fast?"
"How do you still dare to chase me?"
The final moments of the Goblin Prophet's life were filled with questions. He didn't understand why Renn would disregard his own life just to charge forward and kill him.
So what if he killed him in the middle of the army? Could he survive being surrounded and slaughtered by the host?
Or did he think that by killing him, the Goblin tribe would scatter and flee?
The Goblin Prophet had too many questions, but he would never have the chance to know the answers.
"What a complete lunatic!"
