150: Questioning in the hall

Looking at the familiar Iron Wall Fortress and the warriors in their familiar Border Defense Army uniforms, Reyn felt a unique sense of closeness.

"Reyn, why are you here?"

Having received the news, Rex rushed over and immediately saw the majestic white wolf and Reyn.

"Your strength?"

Rex looked at Reyn in disbelief; that aura, powerful enough to make him feel fear, was a familiar sense of pressure he had only felt from Count Sena.

"You've broken through to the Gold Rank?"

Rex's voice trembled slightly as he asked. He couldn't believe that Reyn, who was only a Silver Knight when they last parted, had actually broken through to the Gold Rank in just a few months.

Although Rex had long expected Reyn to break through to the Gold Rank, he thought that would be something that happened years or even over a decade later. How could it be completed in just a few months?

Rex wondered if he had been so busy lately that his mind was fuzzy and his senses were muddled.

"By luck, I broke through a few days ago."

Reyn smiled and didn't say much. He didn't hide his strength; in fact, he even deliberately leaked a bit of his aura.

He had a purpose for coming this time, and to achieve it, he needed to display his strength.

The hundred Magic Wolf Knights he brought were just one part of it; more crucial was himself.

"You... you really broke through to Gold?"

"How is this possible?"

Rex slapped himself to clear his head.

"Alright, Rex, stop that!"

"Has His Grace the Grand Duke not arrived yet?"

Reyn stopped Rex, who wanted to continue slapping himself, and asked about the Grand Duke of the Raging Bear's whereabouts.

"His Grace the Grand Duke hasn't arrived yet. According to the itinerary, the Grand Duke should arrive tomorrow."

"Alright, then what about Count Sena?"

"The Count is in the command room, I'll take you there!"

Soon, Rex led Reyn to Count Sena.

"Kid, your growth is truly beyond my imagination!"

Looking at the high-spirited Reyn with his surging aura, Count Sena was also somewhat astonished. Not only him, but the other nobles within the Iron Wall Fortress were also incredibly shocked.

Many of them had been stuck at the Silver Peak for many years, never being able to take that further step and cross the threshold to become Gold-rank Professionals.

Now, this rising star, Reyn, had surpassed them in the blink of an eye, becoming the Gold Knight they dreamed of being.

"Luck, just luck!"

Reyn smiled and greeted several acquaintances, then chatted with Count Sena.

Not long after Reyn entered the Iron Wall Fortress, the news of his breakthrough to the Gold Rank spread throughout the fortress. All the nobles and people who had some connection with Reyn before came running to see for themselves if the news was true.

As a result, everyone who came was deeply shocked. Reyn's fame spread through the Iron Wall Fortress in an instant, his name on the lips of every fortress warrior.

Reyn also had to welcome and see off waves of former acquaintances. He repeated the same words and the same smile countless times in over a day, until he finally got a bit tired of it.

At this time, the Grand Duke of the Raging Bear finally arrived.

Karl Angry Bear led his army, fighting all the way from south to north, until finally taking up residence in the Iron Wall Fortress. This meant that all the Dragon Legions in the Rage Bear Territory had been defeated and driven out.

The Dragon War in the Rage Bear Territory was over!

Inside the stone hall of the Iron Wall Fortress, Karl stared intently at Reyn. He had been looking at Reyn for a while, making Reyn feel a bit uneasy.

"Your Grace, Reyn Derrick pays his respects to you!"

"Cut the nonsense. How did you break through to the Gold Rank within a year, kid?"

Karl waved his hand and went straight to the point. Everyone present also wanted to know the answer.

"Your Grace, after inheriting my family's territory a year ago, I led my army out to clear the remnants of the Fel Orcs. In the Black Forest, I saved an old man and his granddaughter."

"That old man was a Potion Master. To repay me for saving his life, he gave me two bottles of top-tier potions, which is how I broke through to the Gold Rank."

"Of course, my talent is also good enough; otherwise, potions alone would have been useless."

At the end, Reyn even praised himself.

"A Potion Master? An old man and his granddaughter?"

The other nobles present didn't believe Reyn's words, thinking he was talking nonsense to deceive them.

"You're talking absolute nonsense! What are you blathering about, Reyn? Tell us, have you pledged faith to the Chaos Demon God? Otherwise, how could you break through so quickly?"

A voice suddenly rang out, and its content caused an uproar among the grizzly bear fief nobles present.

Many nobles cast suspicious glances at Reyn. After all, only by turning to the embrace of the Chaos Demon God or an Evil God was it possible to break through successively in such a short time; otherwise, how could an ordinary person break through so quickly?

Reyn looked toward the owner of that voice and immediately saw a familiar face.

"I wondered who it was."

"So it's you, the coward who abandoned his territory and allowed his people to be slaughtered and enslaved by the Dragon Legion."

"Clarkson, how do you have the face to stand up and talk to me? What right do you have?"

The one who stood up to question Reyn was indeed the Viscount of Blackstone Territory, Clarkson.

"You—don't talk nonsense to me!"

Clarkson's face turned pale with rage, and he hurriedly spoke up to defend himself: "Facing the invasion of the Dragon Legion, I led my army to seek reinforcements and joined forces with the Grand Duke's army to fight the Dragon army together. This was approved by the Grand Duke! How is that abandoning my territory?"

"Don't change the subject. We're talking about your faith in the Chaos Demon God, you traitor to humanity!"

Clarkson was both shocked and terrified upon seeing Reyn's breakthrough to the Gold Rank. He knew he had to find a way to bring Reyn down, or else the Blackstone Territory and the Blackstone Family would be finished.

He thought he had caught Reyn's weakness and kept trying to link Reyn to being a follower of the Chaos Demon God or an Evil God Believer.

Many nobles in the hall also began to doubt Reyn's faith.

"Is it Master Kapdo Ilix?"

Karl's voice interrupted the chaotic noise in the hall. In an instant, the previously noisy hall was left with only one voice.

"Yes, Your Grace."

"You know Master Kapdo?"

A Potion Master from the Holy White Academy, someone who was once just one step away from becoming a Legendary Potion Master. Unfortunately, he chose the wrong path in the end and lost everything.

Karl shook his head.

"He visited me after coming to the North to exchange for some cultivation resources for his granddaughter. I thought that after heading north, he would pass through the Iron Wall Fortress and then go to the Cold Wind Territory. I didn't expect him to eventually settle in your territory."

"You saved his granddaughter?"

"Yes, and himself as well. Master Kapdo attacked an Fel Orcs camp and ended up with life-threatening injuries from the power of an Evil God. I was the one who brought him and his granddaughter out of the Black Forest."

"That explains it. His granddaughter is everything to him. Saving her was even more important than saving him. It seems he gave you his last trump card potions."

Through the conversation between Karl and Reyn, the other nobles realized that what Reyn had said seemed to be true. He really had saved a Potion Master, and this Potion Master had a very distinguished background.
