61: Plans can't keep up with changes

Reyn selected some daily necessities for the Red River Territory from Rex's goods, spending nearly a hundred gold coins to replenish the Red River Territory's supplies.

He had just finished his purchase when the convoy sent to pick up Rex arrived.

Looking at the dozen dust-covered carriages that had rushed over, Reyn didn't quite understand why Rex bothered with such a hassle.

"Brother, don't look at me like that. I can't help it. Who told me I owe Paris that guy a lot of favors!"

"When he asked, I could only agree. It's a shame this trip was for nothing; after all this trouble, I won't make much money."

Rex smiled helplessly.

"Aren't you staying here for a night? We brothers can have a meal together."

"Forget it, there's a lot going on at the fortress. The threat from the Fel Orcs to the south hasn't been completely resolved. Logically, I shouldn't even be out."

"It's better to rush back early to avoid trouble."

"I'm leaving, Brother Reyn. We'll meet again when there's a chance."

"Alright!"

Rex came in a hurry and left in a hurry. The carriages kicked up rolling dust that scattered by the roadside, and by the time the dust settled, the convoy had vanished at the intersection.

After seeing off Rex, Reyn told Kent at the dock to keep a close eye on those cargo ships to prevent any accidents, then he stopped paying attention to them.

The four Baronies in Red River Valley being enfeoffed so quickly, with the new barons arriving in about five days, this sudden news disrupted some of Reyn's plans.

Now he could only make temporary adjustments.

"Plans can never keep up with changes!"

Reyn returned to Red River Fortress and immediately summoned Ross and others.

"The Cavalry Squad will assemble immediately and go out with me!"

"Wayne, Alger, you two guard the home!"

"Yes, Lord!"

Since Reyn taught the Guard Army the Wild Wolf Breathing Technique, more than half of the 250 Guard Army soldiers in the Red River Territory have become Professionals.

And the Cavalry Squad members are all Professionals.

Such a breakthrough in just half a month was not only due to the significant effect of the Silver Rank Advanced Wild Wolf Breathing Technique, but also the auxiliary boost from Shadow Leopard flesh and blood.

The few vacancies due to Shadow Leopard casualties have also been filled, and the Guard Army's strength is now several times stronger than before.

In addition, the Cavalry Squad gained five more Wolf Knights.

As Cecilia successively formulated the blood of the wild wolf, Reyn quickly cultivated five Magic Wolves under his command.

With Reyn and Reck, the Bronze Rank Demon Wolf, present, Reyn could subdue as many Wasteland Wolves in the wilderness, Black Wolves in the Black Forest, and other ordinary wild wolves as he wished.

Reyn carefully selected over a dozen strong enough wolves from the wild Wolf Pack and brought them back to the Derrick Wolfs Nest for special training, feeding them magic potions whenever available to help them break through to become Demonic Beasts.

Besides this, Reyn also had arrangements for the Wolf Pack in the wilderness.

The five cultivated Magic Wolves were assigned to Ross, Eric, Dean, Grayson, and Chris.

Dean, Grayson, and Chris were originally Black Iron Rank peak warriors, but have now broken through to Bronze Rank. Reyn assigned all three of them to the Cavalry Squad.

Eric broke through from Bronze Rank initial to Bronze Rank intermediate. Ross and Wayne, who are at Bronze Rank peak, have not yet broken through to Silver Rank, but Reyn felt that they could break through at any time, having reached the critical point.

The previous thirty-odd Professionals all had significant improvements; some of the Black Iron Rank initial warriors even increased two levels in a short time, reaching Black Iron Rank advanced.

There are now fifteen warriors at Black Iron Rank peak, and Reyn believes these fifteen will break through to Bronze Rank before long.

After finishing the Shadow Leopard flesh and blood, Reyn also had the Cavalry Squad continuously expand their patrol range to hunt Demonic Beasts, feeding the Guard Army with the flesh and blood of these Demonic Beasts.

Although most of the hunted Demonic Beasts were Black Iron Rank, the effect of Demonic Beast flesh and blood was still decent.

To improve the Guard Army's strength, Reyn had tried everything. As for the Enchanted Equipment in the spatial ring, Reyn also gave Ross and the other five Magic Wolf Knights an enchanted longsword, an enchanted shield, and an enchanted longbow each.

As for the five sets of enchanted armor, Reyn temporarily didn't use them. His rage bear armor was almost scrapped, so he had to keep at least one set for himself. The remaining four sets were not suitable to be distributed now, as Ross and the others' strength was still a bit low.

Moreover, the Cold Wind Family's armor was still a bit troublesome. Reyn planned to process and modify it later to remove the Cold Wind Family's emblem before using it, so he kept it for himself for now.

The Cavalry Squad quickly assembled, and Reyn immediately led them out.

Running at the forefront of the team were Reyn and the other six Magic Wolf Knights.

Ross and the others, riding Magic Wolves and holding three pieces of Enchanted Equipment, felt incredibly exhilarated. It had been several days since they acquired their Magic Wolf mounts and enchanted weapons, but their excitement still hadn't subsided.

"It's great to follow the Lord. I never thought I'd become a Demonic Beast Knight one day, and even fight with enchanted weapons."

Eric stroked the fur of his Magic Wolf, riding very carefully, afraid of hurting his precious mount.

The 'knight' Eric referred to was the Knight profession. To become a Knight Professional, one must tame a mount, and to tame a mount and achieve perfect understanding with it requires secret techniques.

Just being able to ride a warhorse doesn't make you a Knight Professional. Only by using secret techniques to establish a special spiritual and conscious link with a mount, and gaining the skill of perfect understanding, can one be called a Knight Professional.

When fighting, the knight and mount will cooperate flawlessly, and their combat power will significantly increase.

These job-advancement secret techniques are all held by nobles, which is why most nobles are knights. Ordinary people who wish to become knights can only rely on talent and fate.

Reyn taught Ross and the other five the Derrick Family's self-created secret technique for forging a connection with Magic Wolves, which is why they were able to tame Magic Wolves and become Magic Wolf Knights.

For Magic Wolf Knights, Reyn set the minimum requirement at Bronze Rank; Black Iron Rank warriors were not considered.

Cultivating Magic Wolf Knights is too costly, so their numbers are bound to be controlled. Reyn could only choose the best.

Looking at the excited Ross and the others, as well as the Cavalry Squad members not far behind who were watching Ross and the others with envy, Reyn smiled and encouraged everyone.

"You all will have the chance to become Magic Wolf Knights in the future, and not just Magic Wolf Knights. You will all become true knights and establish your own knight families."

With Ross and the others as living examples, the rest of the people were also convinced by Reyn's words.

"Lord, where are we going now?"

Having ridden with Reyn for a long time, Eric couldn't help but ask once they left the Red River Territory.

"North, to Rock Crystal Territory!"

"Rock Crystal Territory?"

"Why are we going there, Lord?"

"You'll know when we get there."

Reyn didn't explain further.

The Cavalry Squad rode with two horses per person, switching mounts, and the speed of the Magic Wolves was even faster, so the team advanced quickly.

From day to night, the team never stopped until late at night when the group finally halted.

"We're here!"

Reyn motioned for everyone to stop.

"Rest first. We'll be busy tomorrow morning."

As Professionals, everyone wasn't very tired, but the Cavalry Squad's warhorses were struggling and needed a good rest.

Soon, the temporary camp was set up. Ross skillfully arranged the night watch duties, and everyone began to rest.

Reyn, meanwhile, waited nearby until several bright eyes lit up in the night.

Ross, who was about to get up to check, saw Reyn wave him back down.

In a breath, three Wasteland Wolves emerged from the night and came to Reyn's feet.

Reyn skillfully rubbed their heads and began to communicate in wolf language.

A moment later, after giving each of the three Wasteland Wolves a piece of fresh meat, Reyn released them back into the wilderness.

The Magic Wolves subdued by Reyn and Reck were not just the dozen or so in the territory's Wolfs Nest; Reyn had also subdued several Wolf Packs in the wilderness.

The territory's support capacity was limited, and Reyn couldn't raise too many wild wolves now, but it was different in the wilderness. The several Wolf Packs Reyn subdued were essentially free-range, self-sufficient in the wilderness, requiring no resources from Reyn.

However, in return, these external Wolf Packs might disappear in the wilderness for various reasons and no longer respond to Reyn, nor could Reyn summon them at any time, thus providing no actual combat power normally.

But as reconnaissance units, these Wasteland Wolves seemed very useful for now.

"It's a pity that ordinary Wasteland Wolves still have too low intelligence; communicating with them is too strenuous, and they can't execute overly complex commands. If only they were Demonic Beasts."

Reyn found it a bit difficult to communicate with these Wasteland Wolves just now, but fortunately, he had achieved his objective.

Holding the hard, small granules brought by the Wasteland Wolves, he carefully took a little and put it in his mouth.

"A little salty!"
