174: Rules and Rhythms
After deftly dodging a violent energy blast, Renn found a crystal slightly smaller than his pinky finger within a fissure in the plane barrier.
"Is this a space stone?"
Looking at the treasure in his hand shining with a dazzling silver light, Renn nodded with satisfaction and tucked it into his robes.
space stones cannot be stored inside a spatial ring; they must be carried on one's person.
The space stone Renn had harvested looked small, but it was already enough to craft a piece of spatial storage equipment of the same level as the spatial ring he currently wore.
Renn also found several shattered law crystals. Although they were only fragments, they were still rare treasures, which he pocketed.
space stones were rare and located deep within the fissures of the plane barrier, making them difficult to discover and retrieve. Some space stones were too deep within the fissures; even if Renn spotted them, he had to give them up for safety's sake.
law crystals were even rarer. So far, only Kapdo had found a complete law crystal; Renn and the others had yet to harvest any.
The group spread out in a fan shape to search the plane barrier. Besides space stones and law crystals, they would occasionally find some peculiar Transcendent Materials. It was like opening blind boxes; no one knew what might fly out of those spatial fissures.
A dazzling flash of colorful light caught the attention of Renn and the others. After quickly approaching it, Renn finally found his first complete law crystal.
Feeling the unique law rhythm within the law crystal, Renn happily placed the complete law crystal into his spatial ring.
Time spent treasure hunting always flew by. Renn felt as though only a short moment had passed before Kapdo called for a stop.
"Spatial turbulence is starting to appear. We have to go. It will be dangerous if we stay any longer."
Seeing silver, water-like substances gushing out of the spatial fissures, Kapdo's eyes narrowed.
"Let's go. Leave this plane!"
Renn also sensed the danger. He didn't linger for more treasures and turned to quickly leave the plane barrier.
The group, whose strength had greatly increased, left rapidly. Behind them, the plane barrier began to shatter quickly, and a large amount of spatial turbulence continuously poured out from the broken gaps.
On the way back, Renn saw the ratman army devouring everything across the land, and as they approached the Plane Passage, he even spotted the figures of Chaos Demons.
"These Chaos Demons and ratmen are advancing so fast. They've already reached this place."
Kapdo looked at the Chaos Demons rampaging below and said, "It's likely because too many people have gathered near the Plane Passage, attracting these Chaos Demons and ratmen."
"The flesh and souls of us humans are the favorite sacrifices of these Chaos Demons. With so many people gathered here, I expect the main force of the Chaos Demons is already on its way."
Renn saw many migrating human groups being attacked by Chaos Demons, with ratmen also participating. In some places, the ratmen and Chaos Demons were even fighting each other in a chaotic brawl.
On the ground, humans, Chaos Demons, and ratmen were all mixed together in a chaotic three-way battle.
Alistair felt a pang of pity seeing her fellow humans being slaughtered, but she also understood she couldn't save them now. She could only turn her head away from the cruel scenes.
When Renn reached the vicinity of the Plane Passage, he saw that except for the core area near the passage protected by the Wolf Knights, everywhere else had fallen into chaos.
The attacks from the Chaos Demons and ratmen made the migrating tribespeople feel their lives were threatened, and the crowd began to push and shove.
The Plane Passage was only about a dozen meters wide, so the number of people who could pass through was limited. Renn estimated that there were probably two to three hundred thousand people gathered near the Plane Passage.
"Tell those people to discard all their supplies. Only let people through. Don't worry about anything else."
"Hold the position for another half a day. After half a day, everyone withdraws."
"Lord, there are still so many people here. Half a day isn't nearly enough time for many to evacuate. Are we just going to leave them?"
Montoya still wanted to save more of his people. Although many of them were not from the White Wolf Tribe, they were from the same world, and he couldn't bear to watch them die.
"The world is about to collapse, Montoya. We can't save everyone."
"When we withdraw, the Plane Passage won't close immediately. They can escape as many as they can. As for the rest, I am powerless!"
Renn looked at the chaotic scene and had no other choice. It was now the final moment of life and death. Faced with the threat to their lives, these people were on the verge of madness, and chaos was inevitable.
Killing Chaos Demons and ratmen yielded no rewards and was not worth the effort, so Renn had no interest in fighting these alien races.
After arranging the matters of the Plane Passage, Renn returned to the Red River Territory. Near the Plane Passage, he recalled the state of meditation and cultivation he had experienced not long ago.
He also took the time to feel the changes within his body. Having been busy treasure hunting before, he hadn't performed a careful self-examination. Renn discovered that a strand of indescribable, mysterious aura seemed to have appeared in his battle qi and magic power.
This mysterious aura gave Renn's battle qi and magic power a strange rhythm. When performing combat techniques or spells, the effects were significantly enhanced.
After pondering for a moment, Renn found Kapdo, wanting to ask the learned Archmage about it.
Upon hearing Renn's question, Kapdo stared at Renn for a long time.
"I thought before that with your talent, Renn, it wouldn't be hard to sense the law rhythm, but I didn't expect you could actually integrate it into yourself."
"Laws are the hallmark of breaking through to the Legendary rank. Early Legendary Rank is also known as Law Awakening. Law Awakening means one has initially sensed and understood the source of the laws, which represent the most powerful force in heaven and earth."
"law rhythm is the resonance that appears after the laws manifest. It is also a necessary condition that must be mastered before breaking through to the Legendary rank. Generally, only those at the Gold Peak preparing to break through will master it."
"Renn, you are currently only at Middle Gold rank, yet you have already mastered the law rhythm. Your chances of breaking through to the Legendary Realm in the future will be twenty to thirty percent higher than others."
"Truly impressive!"
"Terrifying talent!"
While Kapdo was marveling, Melissa and Alistair also walked over.
Kapdo was surprised to find that both of these ladies had also mastered the law rhythm. The aura of laws emanating from them could not be hidden at all.
"It's not surprising that Ms. Melissa has mastered the law rhythm, as she has already touched the barrier to the Legendary rank. I didn't expect you to have mastered it as well, Miss Alistair."
Kapdo could hardly believe his eyes. Since when did top-tier geniuses become so common?
"It's only natural for Alistair to master the law rhythm with her talent. After all, even Lord Sylan has praised her gift."
Melissa praised Alistair happily. Melissa had gained quite a lot from this trip to the Sub-plane.
Not only had she mastered the law rhythm and taken a huge step toward breaking through to the Legendary Realm, but she had also found five space stones and one complete law crystal.
The space stones were one thing, but that complete law crystal had kept Melissa excited until now.
Previously, Melissa had no certainty about breaking through to the Legendary Realm, but now her chances had suddenly increased by forty to fifty percent.
