135: The King's Reminder

In the Cold Wind Territory, within the Frostchill Hall, Marshall sat upon the Frost Throne with a somber expression, listening to his subordinate's report.

"The Frost Giants have already swept through seventeen Baronies and three Viscounts Territories. They also breached the Sike Earldom the day before yesterday, and Earl Sike was killed in action."

"Enough, say no more!"

Marshall interrupted the subordinate's report.

"Are the Frost Guard and Winter Knights assembled?"

"They have finished assembling!"

"Then let us set out. Follow me to slay those reckless blue skins."

Marshall took action personally. An Ice Dragon over a hundred meters long flew out from the icy peaks behind Frost Heart Castle, soaring over Cold Wind City toward the distance.

Watching the Winter Knights and a large number of Frost Guard leaving the city, along with the Ice Dragon flying overhead, a flicker of emotion passed through Matthew's eyes.

"Commander, it seems the rumors are true. The reinforcements led by the Grand Elder failed to stop those blue skins, and His Grace the Grand Duke has taken action personally."

"Mm."

"Carry out your patrols and stay alert!"

"Yes, Commander!"

Seeing the Ice Dragon fly out, the entire Cold Wind City was abuzz with discussion. Everyone was saying that the Frostchill Fortress, which had never been breached, had fallen to the Frost Giants, and the loathsome blue skins were now pillaging throughout the Cold Wind Territory.

Many did not believe the rumor at first; after all, the Frostchill Fortress had never fallen in a thousand years.

Moreover, everyone in the Cold Wind Territory knew how powerful Grand Elder Bradley was. With the addition of the formidable Winter Mage Corps, how could the blue skins be a match for them?

Wasn't that nonsense?

But now, it seemed the rumors had come true!

Sitting atop the Ice Dragon's head and gazing at the swirling snow, Marshall was also constantly pondering this question: how could the giants have breached the Frostchill Fortress?

Ever since Bradley led the Winter Mage Corps north into the Frostchill Fortress, Frost Heart Castle had received no further news.

By the time Marshall realized something was wrong, he received reports of the Frost Giants' invasion and rampages.

Yet, there was still no word from the Frostchill Fortress, as if the entire fortress and the army led by Bradley had vanished into thin air.

Marshall could only urgently assemble the Winter Knights and Frost Guard to strike out, intending to eliminate the giants first before personally heading to the Frostchill Fortress to see what had gone wrong.

The powerful Winter Knights and Frost Guard galloped beneath the Ice Dragon's wings. At this moment, the wind and snow were not obstacles but swirled around the knights to aid them.

The knight order surged across the snow like an ice-blue torrent, the powerful foundation that Marshall was so proud of.

Meanwhile, inside the Cold Wind Spire, Santos led several members of the Council of Elders in operating magical equipment.

Before long, an image appeared on the Magic Array in the center of the hall.

"Elder Santos, why is it you? Where is His Grace the Grand Duke of Cold Wind?"

"His Majesty wishes to speak with the Grand Duke of Cold Wind, not you, Elder Santos!"

Archmage Avery frowned as he looked at Santos appearing before him.

Not long ago, he had received an order from His Majesty the Golden King to connect the image Magic Array of the Cold Wind Territory and establish contact with the Grand Duke of Cold Wind himself.

Before activating the array, he had informed Santos in advance that the Grand Duke of Cold Wind must be present. The sudden issue made Avery extremely dissatisfied.

"Respected Archmage Avery, the Frost Giants from the north have penetrated deep into the Cold Wind Territory and are pillaging everywhere. Not long ago, they even killed a count of the kingdom. The situation is critical, and His Grace the Grand Duke has already led the Winter Knights to eliminate this force of Frost Giants."

"Because the situation was urgent, the Grand Duke left in a hurry, and I did not have time to inform His Grace."

"However, before leaving, the Grand Duke placed his eldest son, Prince Gendar, the First Heir of the Cold Wind Territory, in temporary command of all affairs in Cold Wind City."

After Santos finished speaking, a tall young man stepped onto the Magic Array.

Avery wanted to say more, but the image suddenly shifted; Avery's figure vanished, and the image of a middle-aged man appeared on the Magic Array.

"Your Majesty!"

Upon seeing the middle-aged man's face, Gendar immediately knelt on the ground. Simultaneously, Santos and the others standing around him also knelt in unison.

"Rise, Gendar. In the blink of an eye, you've grown so much!"

Golden King Bjorn looked at Gendar with a kind smile.

Bjorn wore no ornate clothing, nor did he wear his iconic Golden Crown. At first glance, he looked like an ordinary middle-aged man.

But with just a glance at the magical image, Gendar felt a powerful regal aura wash over him, making him unconsciously want to submit at this king's feet.

"Where is that boy Marshall? Out fighting again?"

"Yes, Father has led the knight order to subjugate the Frost Giants."

Gendar explained cautiously.

"That boy is as impatient as ever, always preferring to do things himself."

"Very well, little one. When your father returns, tell him that I have sensed the aura of Chaos appearing in the northern region of the Cold Wind Territory. A Demon God Bishop of the Legendary Realm is active there. Tell your father to be careful."

"If there are any problems, have your father contact me directly."

"Little one, next time your father comes to the Golden City, you should come along. We haven't seen each other for over ten years!"

"When one gets old, one hopes to see more of you little ones!"

"Yes, Your Majesty!"

Gendar and the Golden King exchanged a few brief words before the magical image closed. However, it was quite a while before Gendar dared to stand up.

"Elder Santos, if His Majesty wanted to find Father, you should have notified him in advance. Why did you wait until after Father left to say anything?"

Gendar questioned Santos somewhat indignantly. He had just been suddenly pulled over by Santos and told he would be speaking personally with His Majesty the Golden King, which was a tremendous ordeal for the young Gendar.

No one in the entire kingdom could face that king calmly; even his father, the Grand Duke of Cold Wind, was cautious and dared not be disrespectful in the king's presence.

Although the Cold Wind Family and the Golden Royal Family shared the same bloodline, Gendar did not dare to claim himself as a junior of that king.

Those few short sentences of dialogue just now had left Gendar breaking out in a cold sweat.

"Your Highness, the Grand Duke left in haste, and I did not expect His Majesty's side to be so eager to activate the magical image. I could only come to you."

Santos's explanation left Gendar with nothing more to say. He could only record the message he had just received from the Golden King into a Voice Recording Magic Stone, then summoned his personal Guard Knight and instructed him personally.

"It is not convenient for me to leave Cold Wind City right now. Green, go find my father and give him this Voice Recording Magic Stone. Remember, you must hand it to my father personally; the information inside is extremely important."

Santos watched Gendar finish all this and saw the knight Green off.

"I'll leave the affairs within the Cold Wind Spire to you elders. There are still many matters waiting to be handled at Frost Heart Castle, so I will take my leave now."

"As you wish, Your Highness!"

After Gendar left, the elders around Santos also departed one after another, leaving only one elder who followed him into his room.

"Santos, that Golden King's presence is truly formidable. If it hadn't been just a magical image, I would have wanted to run away."

The elder who followed him in muttered a few words, then questioned Santos.

"If we can't enter the top floor of the Cold Wind Spire, our other arrangements are of little use. The key is to enter the top floor. What do we do now, Santos?"

Santos set up a Magical Barrier and then said:

"Watch your words. Didn't the Archbishop teach you to be cautious?"

A bizarre smile appeared on the elder's face, and his body twitched stiffly.

"What is there to fear? Without a Legendary present, who here could discover my presence?"

"This body is too old; it's truly uncomfortable being inside it. Once the plan succeeds, I must change to a young and strong body."

"Enough, stop with this useless talk. The Profane Grimoire that Archbishop Giles had the Divine Envoy bring is on its way. Go and receive him."

"As soon as I get the Profane Grimoire, I will find a way to let Gendar come into contact with it and cause him to fall into corruption. As the Grand Duke's eldest son and the First Heir of the Cold Wind Territory, his bloodline allows him to enter the top floor of the Cold Wind Spire."

"Are you certain the Profane Grimoire can smoothly enter Frost Heart Castle?"

Santos smiled disdainfully and then said:

"The giants moving south means that Grand Elder Bradley is dead, and Marshall is now away. Although I cannot enter the highest floor of the Cold Wind Spire, I still control a portion of the permissions for the Cold Wind Barrier. Without those two Legendaries present, it won't be difficult to bring the grimoire in. Just go and receive it."

"The Frost Giants will at most occupy Marshall for half a month. Within half a month, we must cause Gendar to fall so we can enter the highest floor of the spire."

"Understood!"

Finally, Santos added one more thing.

"Dispatch a Ghost Slayer to deal with that knight from earlier. We cannot let Marshall know of the Holy Church's movements just yet."

"Fine!"
