129: succeed

In the end, Wren took Anatolis and Kapdo north toward Bright Moon Territory.

Because while he was considering it, the fluctuations of battle began to rapidly move south; if not stopped, they would soon reach the vicinity of Red River Territory.

Wren decided to head north to investigate. Kapdo naturally followed, and Anatolis, who had run all the way there, eventually chose to come along as well.

It would only take a moment for three Gold Rank powerhouses to reach Bright Moon Territory at full speed, but Wren was cautious. Instead of heading directly to Bright Moon Territory, he chose to lie in wait at a position between Bright Moon Territory and Red River Territory.

"You're much smarter than Big Brother Derrick!"

Hiding with Wren, Anatolis looked at the calm and composed young man. In just a few short hours, his impression of Wren had been refreshed several times.

"You flatter me, Senior. I am far behind my ancestor."

Kapdo smiled and said nothing. He had cast a concealment spell on the three of them, completely hiding their presence.

On the other side, sensing the battle fluctuations from the north getting closer, Wren and the others held their breath and waited.

Soon, Wren saw a familiar figure.

Alistair, riding a Magic Wolf, was fleeing rapidly in a somewhat disheveled state.

In the sky behind him, three figures were quickly approaching.

Alistair's escape had initially gone smoothly after leaving Melissa behind. The two Dragon-descendant Monsters weren't focused on him, so his flight met no resistance.

However, after a short while, one of the Dragon-descendant Monsters caught up to him, catching Alistair off guard. Had Melissa not arrived in time, he might have already been dead.

Melissa, who was locked in combat with Dragon Hawk in the rear, was currently in a very poor state. Her originally flawless face was now even paler, devoid of any color.

Melissa had originally intended to withdraw once she saw Alistair escape successfully. It was impossible for her to win a two-on-one fight, but Dragon Hawk and Fire Wing wouldn't have been able to keep her there either.

However, to Melissa's complete surprise, Dragon Hawk realized he couldn't catch her and turned his attention toward Alistair instead.

Melissa's action of stepping forward to protect Alistair made Dragon Hawk realize that this Elf cared deeply about this human.

So, after failing to catch Melissa, he went after Alistair. This turn of events struck Melissa's weakness.

She couldn't allow Alistair to be killed by the Dragon-descendant Monsters, so she could only turn back and continue the struggle against the two monsters.

And the more Melissa cared about Alistair, the more interested Dragon Hawk became in him.

Now, it was Melissa chasing Dragon Hawk to prevent the monster from harming Alistair, while Fire Wing constantly launched sneak attacks from behind her, causing her injuries to pile up.

Sensing the situation behind him, Dragon Hawk lunged toward the fleeing Alistair with a cruel grin.

Several fire spears condensed in front of him and then shot toward Alistair like lightning.

Seeing this, Melissa waved her staff and summoned several stone walls, hoping to block the fire spears for Alistair.

However, the moment she was distracted, the attacks from Fire Wing and Dragon Hawk arrived. Suffering one heavy blow after another, Melissa's body was slammed violently into the ground, leaving her powerless to resist.

"You Elf are truly devoted, caring so much for a human brat!"

Dragon Hawk looked mockingly at the fallen Melissa.

On the other side, the hot-headed Fire Wing was preparing to continue his attack.

"Die!"

Dragon Hawk hurriedly stopped him.

"You're having another fit! This Elf must be presented alive to His Majesty to get the greatest reward."

The intense battle had left Fire Wing's body wreathed in thick flames, with very little rationality left in his eyes.

Only when he heard Dragon Hawk mention His Majesty did he regain a bit of his senses.

As Dragon Hawk approached Melissa, preparing to take her back, a sharp attack interrupted him.

"Oh? You little fellow still have the strength to resist?"

Dragon Hawk dodged the attack and looked at Alistair in the distance.

"You have quite a lot of magic scrolls on you. You must be the descendant of some human big shot."

"Hehehe, killing someone with a background like yours is what makes it interesting."

The nearby Fire Wing had already lost his patience. Without waiting for Dragon Hawk to finish, he charged forward, intent on killing Alistair.

Alistair, struggling to hold on, used his last few magic scrolls, but Fire Wing dealt with them easily.

A living Gold Peak powerhouse was simply incomparable to magic scrolls that only possessed Gold Peak attack methods.

"Aunt Melissa!"

Alistair was still worried about Melissa's condition; there was no fear in his eyes for the Fire Wing right in front of him.

Just as Fire Wing was about to deliver a killing blow, a sudden change occurred.

Two incredibly swift attacks struck simultaneously from two directions at Fire Wing's side.

"What is that?"

Dragon Hawk, watching from a distance, was startled by the sudden turn of events. He then saw the strange combination of a giant Magic Wolf and a human mage.

Fire Wing was heavily injured on the spot by the long-premeditated attack.

Although they were also Gold Peak, Anatolis's combat power was terrifyingly strong, even greater than that of Fire Wing and Dragon Hawk.

As a veteran Gold Peak mage, Kapdo's combat power was equally formidable.

The sneak attack by the two powerhouses instantly rendered Fire Wing incapable of fighting. They then focused their attention on Dragon Hawk.

Anatolis let out a long howl and charged at Dragon Hawk, leaving a trail of afterimages behind him.

Kapdo launched powerful magical attacks alongside Anatolis, forcing Dragon Hawk to dodge frantically.

"A human powerhouse, and this Magic Wolf... how can there be so many powerhouses here? Just what is that human brat's identity?"

Dragon Hawk glanced at the heavily injured Fire Wing and the Magic Wolf closing in, then flapped his wings and soared into the sky, putting distance between himself and Anatolis.

Then, he fled without looking back.

Wren now approached Fire Wing, looking at the heavily injured monster.

"This is a Dragon-descendant?"

Kapdo descended from mid-air. Neither he nor Anatolis had the ability to catch the fleeing Dragon Hawk, so they could only give up the chase and return to Wren's side.

"He's not exactly a Dragon-descendant. He was likely once a Dragon-blooded Warrior who received a dragon blood empowerment. Having been tainted by dragon blood for too long, he turned into this appearance."

"Is the power of dragon blood that strong?"

"Ordinary dragon blood certainly wouldn't have this effect. It happens when the original owner of the dragon blood he received was too powerful."

"Dragon blood is highly invasive. it easily causes the physical body of the creature receiving it to undergo draconic mutation and deformity. Furthermore, dragon blood causes a creature's sanity to become chaotic."

"However, the benefits are also obvious. After being tainted by dragon blood, a creature's strength increases significantly. This Dragon-blooded Monster is one of the outstanding ones; few people reach this stage while still maintaining their physical body and their sanity."

Kapdo explained briefly, then completely knocked out the still-conscious Fire Wing. He then began to cast a special detection spell on Fire Wing's head to probe his memories.

This was one of the main reasons Wren had moved. Aside from saving Alistair, he had Anatolis and Kapdo act because he wanted to capture a Dragon-descendant Monster to investigate the Dragon Race's intentions for this offensive.

When he saw Dragon Hawk and Fire Wing coming alone without an army following them, Wren felt it was a golden opportunity.

As it turned out, he was right. This action directly captured a Gold Peak Dragon-blooded Monster, a significant gain.

"Thank you, my friend, Wren!"

"You saved me!"

While Wren was busy capturing Fire Wing, he heard a voice from behind.

Turning around, he saw Alistair standing behind him looking weak, his body soaked through with blood.

"How did you get so badly injured?"

Wren looked in surprise at the swaying Alistair.
