189: An old acquaintance
Ordinance Knights!
Rein had heard about the existence of the Ordinance Knights from Kapdo and Alistair, and he also knew that some of the things he was currently doing did not comply with the Kingdom's unwritten rules.
And the scope of jurisdiction for the Ordinance Knights happened to cover exactly what Rein was doing now.
If the Ordinance Knights were to visit the Red River Territory and see Rein's current actions, they would likely impose some punishment and interference, which Rein could not allow.
Rein asked, "What are those Ordinance Knights doing after helping Rage Bear City quell the rebellion?"
"Lord, after the rebellion was quelled, those Ordinance Knights began hunting down members of the Demon God Cult near Rage Bear City."
"They haven't gone north?"
"There are temporarily no signs indicating that these Ordinance Knights will head north. They seem to prioritize the eradication of Demon God Believers and Cultists. Information about their battles with the Demon God Cult can be gathered inside Rage Bear City, and the residents there greatly admire these Ordinance Knights."
Klimp reported all the intelligence regarding the Ordinance Knights, and Rein breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing their current movements.
"Have the Shadows constantly monitor the movements of these Ordinance Knights, and report to me immediately if there is any sign of them heading north."
"Yes, my Lord!"
After Klimp finished reporting the collected intelligence, he left Rein's study, leaving Rein alone to ponder.
Looking at the map hanging on the wall, Rein's gaze settled on the Blackstone Territory.
As the Red River Territory rapidly expanded in size, the demand for blackstone also grew quickly. Not to mention, the Forge Workshop alone consumed a large amount of blackstone every day.
The blackstone Rein had previously stockpiled was mostly depleted; there wasn't much left in the warehouse.
A few days ago, Holland had mentioned to Rein that the blackstone needed to be replenished quickly, or the output from the Forge Workshop would drop significantly.
If ordinary firewood was used as fuel, the production of weapons and equipment would not only decrease in volume but also significantly drop in quality, which Rein could not tolerate.
If he wanted to buy blackstone through official channels, setting aside whether the Blackstone Territory would even be willing to sell to him, even if Clarkson agreed to sell, Rein currently didn't have enough funds to purchase the blackstone.
Rein didn't have many Gold Coins to begin with, having used most of them to purchase large quantities of supplies from the Salak Merchant Guild to cover the territory's expenses.
He did have many Transcendent Resources that could be sold for a large amount of Gold Coins, but Rein was reluctant to part with these resources.
The three Titled Legions were starving for resources, and the territory's numerous geniuses also needed these Transcendent Resources to improve their strength. Rein didn't even have enough for himself, so how could he sell them?
"If I don't have money to buy it, I'll have to figure out another way!"
Looking at the blackstone mines within the Blackstone Territory on the map, Rein made a decision.
The next day, at the Red River City Military Camp.
The First Legion, the Frostfang Legion, the Gale Claw Legion, and the Storm Steel Feather Legion had completed their assembly and were awaiting Rein's command.
"Let's move out!"
Rein did not give a speech; he led the troops out directly.
The vassals inside Red River City began discussing animatedly after seeing the large Army leave the city, but their confidence soared when they realized their Lord was personally leading the expedition.
"I wonder how many Spoils of War the Lord will bring back from this campaign?"
"Needless to say, there will definitely be countless amounts, hasn't it always been this way!"
"That's right, that's right!"
"Long live the Lord, long live the Lord!"
The ordinary vassals on the street shouted enthusiastically as Rein passed by, and the passionate atmosphere instantly lifted, causing the Warriors following Rein to unconsciously puff out their chests higher.
All the Warriors were also full of confidence in Rein, firmly believing that this campaign would result in a great victory and a glorious return.
Rein waved twice, then sped up the march.
The Eagles in the sky and the Wolf Pack on the ground had already set off toward the target, and they would soon bring Rein the latest intelligence.
The target this time was precisely the Blackstone Territory.
A few days later, Rein led the Army to set up camp in the border region between the Red River Territory and the Blackstone Territory, waiting for the right moment to deliver a fatal blow to Blackstone Fortress.
Rein hadn't expected to receive news from the Shadow Guards yet, but instead, an acquaintance arrived.
Seeing Colt's iconic Four Hands, Rein was surprised that the man was still alive.
"I didn't expect you could evade the Dragon Legion's hunt. That's quite impressive!"
When the Dragon Legion invaded, Rein had specifically sent a message to Colt, telling him to bring his subordinates into Red River City for refuge, but he never waited for Colt in the end.
Clearly, the man hadn't followed his advice at the time, which annoyed Rein slightly.
The group of Kobolds who had surrendered to Rein at the time did not receive this treatment and were all abandoned by Rein. He hadn't expected Colt to show him no respect.
"My Lord, please forgive me. I failed to heed your advice at the time. Only after the Dragon Army arrived did I realize you hadn't lied to me, but by then it was too late to return."
Colt knelt on the ground, trembling as he begged Rein for forgiveness. At the time, he truly hadn't believed Rein's news about the Dragon Legion invasion, but he hadn't expected Rein's words to be true.
Not long ago, shortly after he returned here, he encountered a familiar Demonic Wolf in the wilderness. Colt proactively made contact with the Demonic Wolf, which then led him back to the Military Camp.
As soon as Colt arrived, he was startled. He hadn't expected to find himself in such a massive Military Camp, filled with countless powerful Professionals.
When he saw Rein, Colt's legs immediately turned to jelly, and he dropped to his knees with a thud.
The powerful Aura emanating from Rein standing before him made Colt lack even the courage to look up.
"You thought I was trying to deceive you back then?"
"True, for an Ordinary Person like you, a Dragon invasion might sound like a complete fantasy!"
"Never mind, get up!"
Rein didn't dwell on Colt's choice back then. Now, Colt was no longer enough to pique his interest; he no longer had that qualification.
However, Rein had a change of heart, thinking that perhaps Colt could still be utilized.
"How many men do you still have under you?"
"Several hundred people, my Lord!"
"Several hundred people? Your group didn't shrink; it actually expanded?"
"Yes, my Lord. I fled south all the way to avoid the sharp edge of the Dragon Legion's forces. I only dared to return a long time after the Dragon Legion disappeared."
"Along the way, I encountered some Refugees, and after taking in a portion of them, my group expanded slightly."
"Took in Refugees? You're quite capable."
"Select the able-bodied men from your subordinates, and I'll give you some more to make up two hundred Cavalry. Wait for me at the old location for now; I will arrange a mission for you later."
Hearing that he could still work under Rein, Colt excitedly knelt down and cried out his thanks. By serving under a big shot like Rein, wouldn't his future be bright?
"Alright, stand down. I have things to attend to!"
"Yes, my Lord!"
After dealing with Colt, Rein finally waited for the opportune moment he desired the next day.
Klimp handed the latest message delivered by the Shadow Guards to Rein.
"At least three Gold Rank Chaos Demons. Their strength is quite formidable!"
Putting down the Secret Letter, Rein immediately gave the order.
"The time is now. All troops, attack!"
