155: Supplies arrived

Upon returning to Red River Fortress, Renn invited Kapdo and the others over for a meeting to share his ideas.

"Remodeling the river channel?"

Kapdo hadn't expected Renn's ambitions to grow larger and larger.

"Theoretically, it's possible, but we still need to plan it out carefully."

Alistair considered it for a moment and said seriously, "The few of us working together can indeed do it, and it shouldn't be difficult. However, we'll need a core to lead the casting of the spell."

Melissa and Ariya, who were nearby, weren't very interested in the plan, but when Renn asked for their help, the two fairies didn't refuse.

"Renn, it's best for you to act as the core to lead the casting. After all, the river channel needs to be renovated according to your requirements. However, with your current strength, you might not be able to control that powerful mana when the time comes."

Inside the room, the mages discussed for a while before basically finalizing the plan Renn had proposed.

After this, Renn only needed to perfect the details of the river renovation and ensure all participants understood his goals before they could start work.

With the plan set, Renn rode Reck to meticulously inspect the Red River's channel, clearly marking all areas needing renovation and not overlooking a single detail.

Alistair and Cecilia stayed by Renn's side to assist him, offering suggestions from time to time.

Both Alistair and Cecilia were talents nurtured through a complete elite education; they possessed a wealth of knowledge that Renn lacked. Many of the suggestions offered by the two mage girls were of great help to him.

With their assistance, Renn's plan for remodeling the river channel gradually became more complete.

Over the next few days, Renn worked on drawing a diagram of the Red River's channel, providing detailed annotations for every section, all the way to the uppermost reaches where it was about to enter the mountains.

The former Bright Moon Territory was located at the end of Red River Valley, with a small portion already considered part of the Black Mountain Range.

From Red River City to the northernmost section before the mountains, this stretch of the Red River spanned hundreds of miles. Renn marked dozens of sections that required renovation.

Some only needed minor adjustments, while other areas required significant changes; essentially, the further north one went, the more extensive the modifications became.

While Renn was busy on the river, Ross brought men over with good news.

"The Salak Merchant Guild's cargo ships have arrived?"

"Yes, My Lord!"

"Let's go. Let's go welcome our President Field."

By the time Renn reached the pier, Field had already arrived. Behind him, over twenty massive cargo ships had docked.

"President Field, welcome! I've been looking forward to your arrival. If you hadn't come soon, I'd have been at the end of my rope here."

"Lord Renn, you must be joking."

Field looked at Renn with a somewhat complex expression.

A few months ago, Renn was a minor noble he didn't pay much attention to, yet in just a few months, he had achieved goals that countless people couldn't reach in a lifetime.

Renn's current title and personal strength already made him a major figure within the Rage Bear Territory. Aside from the Grand Duke of the Raging Bear and several Earls, the next tier consisted of Viscounts like Renn.

The key was that Renn's strength was that of a Gold Knight, and his territory also possessed a Gold Peak existence. Such power had already reached the level of an Earl.

Field now found himself unconsciously more respectful when facing Renn, and his speech was no longer as casual as before.

Not only was Renn's own strength formidable, but more importantly, he had made a name for himself with the Grand Duke of the Raging Bear. This time, Field had come to deliver a batch of supplies to Renn on the Grand Duke's orders.

Because of this connection, Field's attitude toward Renn became even more respectful.

"The strength of Red River Territory is obvious to all. Even if I hadn't come, with Lord Renn here, Red River Territory would not have any problems."

Field flattered Renn; as a merchant, his skill in this area was at least as high as Renn's, if not higher.

"Lord Renn, this time the Grand Duke has sent you several thousand tons of grain and a large amount of various daily necessities. These are all provided to you for free by His Grace."

As Field spoke, he handed the manifest for the delivered supplies to Renn. Looking at the items listed one by one, Renn's joy was plain to see.

The Grand Duke of the Raging Bear had been generous this time. The supplies sent were enough for everyone in Renn's current territory for over half a year, solving many of Renn's problems in one go.

"My thanks to the Grand Duke for his generosity, and my thanks to you, President Field, for bringing these supplies all this way."

"It is only right. His Grace gave the order, and we naturally do our utmost to fulfill it."

"If the northern section of the river hadn't been frozen, the fleet would have reached Red River Territory long ago."

As Field spoke, he occasionally glanced at Red River City not far from the pier; the tall city walls were very close to the docks.

The heavy, towering walls gave Field a sense of pressure.

Before coming, he had only heard of some of Renn's deeds—that Renn had broken through to the Gold Rank and established a new city.

But hearing it was one thing; seeing it with his own eyes was quite another.

Now, Field truly felt Renn's immense power, as well as the strength and prosperity of Red River City.

"Lord Renn, you truly are astonishing. I am thoroughly impressed now. No wonder His Grace favors you so much. You are truly no ordinary man; in your generation, there is no one else in the entire Rage Bear Territory who can compare to you."

Renn waved his hand and offered a few humble words before inviting Field into the city for a proper chat.

However, Field declined Renn's invitation.

"When I left, His Grace told me to head south immediately after delivering the supplies and not to linger. I won't enter the city; I'll head back as soon as these supplies are unloaded."

Renn hadn't expected the Grand Duke of the Raging Bear to make such an arrangement.

"It seems that His Grace doesn't want anyone disturbing Alistair's life."

Renn didn't insist and instead entertained Field well at the pier. He also learned from Field about the current situation in other northern territories and other parts of the Rage Bear Territory.

The scouting range of the Wolf Pack under Renn's command was still limited, and there were many things outside Red River Valley that Renn didn't know.

Communicating with Field allowed Renn to learn many things he hadn't known before.

For example, he now knew that the Grand Duke of Stag, the neighbor of the Rage Bear Territory, was currently critically ill, and the entire Stag Territory had begun a cruel struggle for power.

The Stag Territory wasn't far from Red River Valley; going a few hundred miles east past Blackstone Territory led to the northwestern region of the Stag Territory. Renn was very interested in this news and talked with Field for a long time.

Faced with Renn's inquiries, Field, intending to build a good relationship, basically told him everything he knew, and the two had a very pleasant conversation.

Two days later, the cargo ships left Red River Territory. Renn watched Field head south and waved goodbye with a smile.

This time, Field had not only brought a large amount of supplies but also a Tax Exemption Decree from the Grand Duke of the Raging Bear.

Last year, when Renn returned to Red River Territory, he had already been granted a three-year tax exemption due to the invasion of the Fel Orcs. Now that Red River Valley had been invaded by the Dragon Legion again, the Grand Duke of the Raging Bear directly granted the entire Red River Valley another three-year tax exemption.

This meant that for three years, Renn wouldn't have to pay taxes to Rage Bear Fortress.

As a Viscount, he would normally have to pay a significant amount of tax to Rage Bear Fortress every year. This three-year exemption greatly lightened Renn's burden.

With the supplies provided by the Grand Duke of the Raging Bear, the construction speed of Red River Territory increased once again.

Renn felt at ease after storing the supplies and turned back to continue his work on the remodeling and renovation of the Red River channel.
