19: Foolish humans

Renn's group quickly arrived at the place where the horses were kept before entering the Black Forest.

Taking the warhorses, Renn immediately led the team to find a suitable location for the upcoming battlefield.

Looking at the tall and dense wild grass before him, Renn nodded with satisfaction.

"This is the place!"

High grass was everywhere on the wilderness, making it very easy to find a place suitable for an ambush.

The key was the choice of distance; it couldn't be too close to the Black Forest to prevent the Fel Orcs from escaping back into it, nor could it be too close to Red River Town. If the Fel Orcs broke through to the vicinity of Red River Town and discovered that the Border Defense Army had already withdrawn, Renn would be in big trouble.

"Eric, go find Alger and have him lure the Fel Orcs's group here."

"We will ambush those Fel Orcs here."

"Yes! My Lord!" Eric replied.

Renn's plan was actually very simple: wait for the Evil Beastman group to enter the wilderness and then use the open terrain of the wilderness to ambush them.

Renn's side was entirely cavalry; they could fully utilize their high mobility to employ kite tactics, continuously using long-range attacks to wear down the Fel Orcs.

As long as he could find an opportunity to kill the Evil Orc Commander, the remaining Fel Orcs could be hunted down slowly. Even if they couldn't be completely wiped out, the Evil Beastman group would be heavily damaged.

This tactic allowed for both fighting and retreating; even if the battle turned unfavorable later, Renn could lead the team to disengage easily.

Renn led the squad to lie in wait in the pre-selected ambush circle, waiting quietly as everyone rested and built up their strength for the upcoming battle.

On the other side, by the time Eric met Alger, the sky had already darkened, and the Evil Beastman group had just left the Black Forest and entered the wilderness.

"Brother Alger, the Lord sent me to find you."

"Has the Lord found a suitable ambush spot?"

Alger knew about Renn's ambush plan, so seeing Eric's arrival, he understood what to do next.

"Yes, Brother Alger. The Lord has already found a suitable ambush spot and arranged for us to lure the Fel Orcs there."

Alger looked at the sky, which had already grown dark.

"It's already dark, and the Fel Orcs have set up camp. It will be very difficult for just the two of us to lure them out now."

"The Lord mentioned before that if it's difficult to act after dark, we can wait until dawn. Let's both get some good rest first and go attract the Fel Orcs when it gets light."

Eric knew Renn had made arrangements for Alger in the afternoon, so he didn't say much regarding Alger's suggestion.

"Alright, I'll follow your lead, Brother Alger."

While Alger and Eric were talking, they didn't notice a shadow lurking not far from them. It wasn't until the two finished their conversation and rested that the shadow disappeared into the night.

On the other side!

In the temporary camp of the Fel Orcs, the Evil Orc Commander leading the group was losing his temper.

"Damned useless trash! So much 'blood food' was driven over, and a squad was sent, yet why haven't we seen even a shadow of them until now? Have they all died out?"

Having received no news in the afternoon, the Evil Orc Commander didn't wait until the next day but chose to directly assemble the troops and set out personally.

"The Warlord said that Lord Blood Flame is leading the army to attack the human fortress. Those human armies couldn't possibly stay behind. Since Lord Blood Flame has personally taken action, those humans will surely be torn to pieces by him and offered to the great Father God."

The Evil Beastman General, Blood Flame Dorcas, was a renowned powerhouse among the Evil Beastman tribes. Just mentioning his name made the Evil Orc Commander feel excited. His worship of the strong gave him absolute confidence in General Blood Flame.

"Commander!"

Suddenly, a voice interrupted the Evil Orc Commander.

"Who?"

The Evil Orc Commander's deep red eyes stared intently at the direction the voice came from. A figure stepped out from the shadows.

"A Stalker?"

"What are you doing here?"

Evil Beastman Stalkers were special units among the Fel Orcs, possessing the special ability to move in the shadows and being extremely skilled in assassination. This was both their advantage and their disadvantage.

Because among the Fel Orcs, who advocated frontal combat and longed to tear enemies apart face-to-face and devour their flesh, assassination was despised and looked down upon.

The Evil Orc Commander similarly looked down on these fellows hiding in the shadows, and his tone toward the Stalker was extremely disdainful.

"The Warlord sent me to assist you."

"Assist me? Just based on you rats who only know how to hide in the shadows, you're worthy of assisting me?"

"I don't need your assistance. With my powerful strength and indestructible blade, I can slaughter those humans, bring their flesh back to the Warlord, and also bring back the intelligence he needs."

"Get back to your shadows and hide. You're not needed here, you pathetic rat!"

The Evil Orc Commander's words were full of insults, causing the shadows around the Evil Beastman Stalker to tremble slightly. However, in the end, it endured. It only had Bronze Rank strength; facing a Silver Rank Commander, no matter how angry it was, it didn't dare to be presumptuous.

"The Warlord wants me to cooperate with you; it's not that I wanted to come."

The Evil Beastman Stalker suppressed its anger and didn't say anything else, directly stating its intelligence.

"Two humans are hiding not far from here. They are warriors of that human territory. I overheard that their Lord has set an ambush in the wilderness to intercept us."

"Those two humans will lure us into their ambush circle tomorrow."

Hearing news of the humans, the Evil Orc Commander immediately perked up.

"Two humans hiding? A Human Lord?"

"How many people did that Human Lord bring? What is his strength?"

"Probably fewer than a hundred. Those two humans said dozens. The Human Lord's strength is Silver Rank, and the rest shouldn't be strong."

"Fewer than a hundred people, a Silver Rank Human Lord, and he actually dares to ambush me?"

"Ridiculous! He's looking for death!"

"Stupid human!"

After hearing the intelligence provided by the Stalker, the Evil Orc Commander burst into loud laughter, then began to mock Renn's stupidity frantically.

"With thirty-some people and one Silver Rank, he wants to ambush my hundreds of brave and invincible warriors? Does that Human Lord think we are like 'blood food' such as Kobolds and Goblins?"

"Being able to discover the humans' tracks makes you somewhat useful. But that's it. Lead the way now; we are going to tear those stupid humans to pieces."

The Evil Orc Commander was somewhat impatient to see what kind of terrified expression the Human Lord would show upon seeing him.

"Commander, are we going now?"

"Nonsense! Of course it's now. The Warlord is still waiting for my good news. If we don't go now, are we going to wait until tomorrow?"

"We leave now!"

The Evil Orc Commander walked to the center of the camp and began to roar.

"Boys, get up! Follow me to devour the flesh of those stupid humans! Tear them apart! Eat them all!"

Following the Evil Orc Commander's roar, the Evil Beastman camp immediately boiled with excitement.

The Evil Beastman War Slaves followed the Commander and set out into the dark night.
