14: Chapter 14 Crisis, Illuminating the Night Sky of America
"How did you do it? We clearly checked your body and your gut."
Mitte Wester, tied up in the American style, looked at Lin Fang, who was busy working on the server, and asked in confusion, "Cassius, why are you doing this?"
"Please wait a moment; it's not magic time yet."
After turning off the main power to the server, Lin Fang looked at the Black Watch. Half the time had passed; victory was imminent.
[Evacuation Countdown: 11:56:41]
Thump, thump, thump—
A sound of heavy objects impacting came from outside; someone was trying to break in. They couldn't breach the alloy door, so they chose the wall next to it.
The person in charge had been taken hostage; this was the most serious incident since the establishment of this Research Institute.
No, this was the second largest.
Outside, Karl looked at the photos of the corpses and the locked alloy door, wanting to cry but unable to shed tears. Mr. Mite, please don't let anything happen to you; his small shoulders couldn't bear the wrath of the Drake Family. Fuck, fuck! This damn yellow-skinned monkey.
Mr. Mite, I will definitely save you!
"Hello, is anyone there?"
Suddenly, a voice came through the headset. It was that yellow-skinned monkey, Cassius! Originally, he wasn't worth Karl remembering, until this damn Cassius did something so terrifying.
"Cassius, if you dare to harm Mr. Mite, I will use a hammer to break your bones piece by piece," Karl threatened.
Upon hearing this, Lin Fang kicked Mite's tailbone, the sudden sharp pain causing Mite to cry out involuntarily.
It was truly heartbreaking to hear; the scream that came out made Karl lose his composure.
"Stop, stop, Cassius, state your demands."
Lin Fang smiled. Sure enough, before negotiating, one must establish a good atmosphere so the other party will be willing to listen.
Next was stalling for time. From their perspective, what could he, a turtle in a jar, use? It was the server and the life of this person in charge.
As long as they didn't come to harm, there was still room for maneuver.
"What, you want to call the Police?!"
After stalling for another half hour, Karl felt incredulous upon hearing the yellow-skinned monkey's demand, even doubting his own ears. Shit, they should be the ones calling the Police.
"That's right. Right now, I only trust the constitution of our great free country. Only it can protect me. By tomorrow noon, I want to see people from the FBI and SFPD."
Lin Fang shouted hoarsely from inside, his eyes red like a rabbit's, "Otherwise, let me and Mr. Mite return to the embrace of God together!"
In the end, he kicked the person in charge's tailbone again, causing Mite to cry out in cooperation.
Outside, listening to Mite's wailing, Karl breathed a sigh of relief. At least Mr. Mite was safe until tomorrow, and the people from the Drake Family had arrived too.
"OK, Cassius..."
Hearing the response from the headset, Lin Fang returned to his normal expression. By tomorrow morning, the time for evacuation would be close.
"So that's your plan, but you underestimate the Drake Family. Even if the Police are here, they have ten thousand ways to kill you." Seeing his face change so quickly, Mitte Wester couldn't help but say, "In front of them, the San Francisco Police are just trash."
He was twisting his body constantly, trying to reduce the pain coming from above his buttocks.
"Oh, Mr. Mite, thank you for the reminder." Lin Fang squatted down and delivered a side chop with his palm to the back of his neck. "You're done; have a good sleep."
Mite didn't react in time, and a huge wave of pain came from his neck, causing him immense suffering. "Ah—shit, shit, Cassius, you did that on purpose!"
Why didn't he pass out? It was his first time, so he was a bit rusty. Lin Fang looked for the angle again, measuring it on his neck, which to Mite looked like a demon.
Bang—
Mitte Wester lay down obediently. After Lin Fang checked that he had indeed passed out and wasn't dead, he went to the side of the server in this pharmaceutical Research Institute.
It was time for the robber to take his spoils. The moment Lin Fang's palm touched it, the light seemed to distort slightly, and then this huge server disappeared from the room. It was silent, incredibly bizarre, leaving only the iron frame and a pile of cables that had lost their connection on the floor.
Lin Fang felt relieved; this was also a verification. It seemed the Black Watch acknowledged it; he had even prepared to strip the hard drives.
Finally, he had it in his hands. The next step was to ensure he didn't die.
Time arrived at daybreak. This small island on the edge of the Farallon Islands was lively for the first time.
A red Bell 212 helicopter was landing, the three letters "CNN" on the fuselage particularly eye-catching.
"Land quickly, Bob. Oh my god, I can't wait. I want to interview that hero quickly; I hope he's still alive." On the helicopter, a hot-bodied female reporter was holding onto the fuselage, looking down with fiery eyes. "This is definitely the best news report of the year!"
"Hmm? That annoying guy from the Global Times is here too?" The female reporter looked at the helicopter appearing behind them with disgust. That guy who hadn't been in the business long was the most ungentlemanly male reporter she had ever seen.
"Faster, Bob, faster! We have to be faster than him!" The female reporter was anxious.
"Stop them! Fuck! Who can tell me how these reporters got here?" On the ground, Karl, who was waiting for the people from the Drake Family to arrive, felt his head swell as he looked at the two helicopters. "Who leaked the news?!"
He hadn't called the Police; this Research Institute had many things that couldn't see the light of day. He was prepared to let the My Lord sent by the Drake Family make the decision, but why, as soon as it was dawn, did these guys, who were more annoying than hyenas, arrive?
"Sir, I see the Police helicopter, right behind them." A security guard holding binoculars reminded him.
Karl almost fainted when he heard this; he dared not imagine the scene when the Drake Family arrived. This was even worse than his younger brother dying.
"Fuck his whole family! Who exactly leaked it?" Karl looked around, furious.
"Sir, I think I know." A U.S. man timidly handed over a tablet. "It's already number one on the real-time hot topics on FB."
Karl snatched the tablet and looked at the content on it: My name is Cassius. By the time you read this article, I will already be dead...
The U.S. internet was boiling. At 6:00 AM, a 3,000-word essay accusing the FLL-1 pharmaceutical Research Institute was published on the U.S.'s largest social platform.
An Asian man calling himself Cassius Wardfa exposed the cruel and illegal experiments conducted inside the Research Institute and the inhuman torture he had suffered. He also claimed that he had luckily escaped, but still chose to return to the demon's embrace to rip out the demon's ugly heart for the world to see.
Finally, there was a picture attached: in the sunlight, the scar-covered Asian youth was smiling brilliantly, with the terrifying and gloomy pharmaceutical Research Institute behind him.
(If I sacrifice myself alone, can it light up the night sky of the U.S.? I really want to see it one more time...)
