43: Chapter 43 Before today, I was a materialist

Seeing the reporter conducting a live news broadcast ahead, Orson subconsciously turned his head and walked past her. As the head of the Sinclair Family, he generally did not want to appear in the public eye, but he found that this beautiful reporter had a nice figure—the kind he liked when he was young.

Now? He still liked it!

Orson thought self-deprecatingly. He needed this to alleviate the tension in his heart and ensure he wouldn't slip up during the upcoming conversation; before the other party became a Director, he had been an experienced detective.

"Good morning, Director Wentworth," Orson greeted a burly White man of about 50 years old in front of him.

Theodore Wentworth looked behind him, and upon discovering who had arrived, he merely gave a perfunctory nod without any other response, continuing to instruct the Police to get to work.

Orson was not embarrassed. As a law enforcer in San Francisco, the other party knew too many powerful people; the Sinclair Family was just a downstream consortium in San Francisco, only able to act pompous in front of ordinary people.

But he and the other party had another layer of relationship.

"Sigh, it seems Director Wentworth does not welcome this old friend of mine,"

Orson stood beside Theodore on his own and said, his tone somewhat sad: "Our relationship used to be very good."

"Good enough to throw you into prison?"

Hearing this, a trace of a smile appeared on Theodore's serious face, and he shook hands with the old man.

As two cigars were lit, the atmosphere between the two eased. Before Orson made his fortune, he had been a hoodlum on the streets of San Francisco and a frequent visitor to the Police station, and the person who often caught him was Theodore, then a small-time detective.

"It looks like things are very bad," Orson said, skillfully blowing a smoke ring as he watched the growing crowd at the edge of the crater.

"Because of the power outage, people inside are arguing to have the mayor step down." Theodore pointed his finger to the east, where the city center of San Francisco was located, and then the burly White man took a deep drag of his cigarette and continued:

"And my task is to investigate this case of the 'theft' of the Eiffel Power Plant. Heh, Orson, you've also seen this crater. Do you think I can find the person who dug it?"

Saying this, Theodore turned his head to look at Orson, a shocking sense of decadence suddenly appearing in his eyes. "I can't do it. This case is not something a human can accomplish. Do you know, before today, I was still a materialist..."

It was the first time Orson had seen this battle-hardened old detective so fragile, but in front of that evil spirit, he himself was no different. The only thing that made Orson feel relieved was that he obviously hadn't been exposed.

"You can't blame yourself. This is comparable to the aircraft carrier disappearance incident that happened in Virginia, although it's not as valuable as an aircraft carrier," Orson said casually, wanting to comfort his old friend.

Theodore smiled bitterly, "Perhaps."

Three seconds later, both of them widened their eyes!

【Black Star is at your service】

【Please confirm the transaction; selling the Eiffel Power Plant will grant 128 plunder points】

"Confirm,"

After returning to reality, Lin Fang felt quite pleased looking at the energy points that had risen again. Added to the bits and pieces of "junk" he had brought back this month, his available plunder points had finally broken through the 1000 mark!

At the same time, Lin Fang discovered two other "rules" of trading:

One: Materials with high scientific research value are more favored by Black Star, granting more plunder points.

Two: Black Star does not pay for similar traded items.

Once, Lin Fang brought out a GHE-100 gene sequencer, which cost only about 300,000 U.S. dollars, and Black Star gave a high price of 6 plunder points!

Lin Fang immediately traveled back, washed his face with the Holy Water that the old man Orson had prepared for him, and got another identical gene sequencer. However, when trading again, Black Star only gave one plunder point...

A time-traveling wage earner. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. Lin Fang put his hands behind his back and slammed the Black Watch on his wrist against the desk.

The result, of course, was that it was completely unharmed.

Then what should he trade with Black Star using these plunder points?
