321: Chapter 321 Going Home

The helicopter overhead was still dragging the King Kong that had just appeared and then bit the dust. Lin Fang followed Komack into the base.

Only after entering did he realize that this base, comparable to a large city, wasn't entirely occupied by Jushen Company personnel; there were also many ordinary residents.

A massive holographic screen stood at the front of the base, almost dominating half the view. A persuasive narration, combined with visuals that blended epic scale and technological sophistication, made everyone who saw it want to join them:

"When you feel vulnerable, we will protect you. When you are tormented by illness, we will heal you. When chaos strikes, we will bring order.

Stability, security, a chance to start anew.

Who are we?

We are the trailblazing Precursors, we are Atlas..."

Except for Lin Fang, who was wondering if there was a chance for this base to become his own.

"Corporal Sean, this is our Argus Base on Earth, named after our Legion. We have three such bases on Earth," Komack explained to Lin Fang as they walked, then led him to a transport vehicle.

"The Argus Legion is primarily responsible for rapid ground deployment and special operations," Komack continued, his voice filled with pride. "High-risk forward areas like Skull Island are usually entered by us first."

"This base is our hub, complete with supplies, repairs, medical facilities, R&D, and even family quarters. The Company believes that only by providing soldiers with the strongest rear support and the clearest objectives can their maximum combat effectiveness be unleashed."

Komack looked at the poor amnesiac soldier and asked again, "Sean, your family also lives in the base. Do you have any recollection?"

Lin Fang's face showed sorrow. "Sir, I've completely forgotten them. I hope my parents won't be sad because of me."

Komack paused, then replied, "They won't. The records say your parents are both dead. Only a younger brother remains."

Lin Fang's expression remained unchanged: "Oh, that's truly terrible."

Komack didn't seem to suspect anything, merely patting his shoulder. "Don't overthink it. Let the doctors check your condition first."

The transport vehicle drove all the way to a hospital entrance. Several doctors took Lin Fang to a room, wanting to find the cause of his memory loss, but various examination devices were applied with no results. The examination showed that Sean's brain was completely normal, even more active than an average person's.

Finally, the doctor said to Komack, "I'm sorry, Lieutenant Komack, we haven't found a problem. It might be temporary amnesia; it should resolve in a few days."

"Alright..."

Komack frowned, clearly dissatisfied with the vague conclusion, but said nothing more. He led Lin Fang away from the medical center and then went straight to their Company's dormitory area.

In the car, Komack said to Lin Fang, "Soldier, I've arranged three days of leave for you. Get some good rest. Before you leave, return the Atlas-7 Biological Scanner on you to me. It's Company property."

After speaking, Komack extended his hand to Lin Fang, signaling him to hand it over.

But the latter didn't move for a long time.

The two looked at each other. Komack's expression turned a bit grim, but he couldn't get angry at the amnesiac. "Sean, you didn't lose it, did you...?"

"Just kidding, sir. It's actually still with me," Lin Fang said, handing over the scanner he had hidden in his embrace.

Lin Fang hadn't intended to keep the item; he didn't care for it. The immediate priority was to find an opportunity to understand this world.

It wasn't convenient in the military camp; he needed to go somewhere else.

"Sir, I have a request. Can you take me home? I want to see my younger brother, but I don't even know the way home now."

Komack: ...

Naturally, Lin Fang took the transport vehicle to a residential building on the east side of the base. This was the home of the body he now inhabited.

After getting out of the car, Lin Fang extended an invitation, "Sir, would you like to come in for dinner?"

"No, I have things to do. Remember, you only have three days of leave. In three days, whether your memory has recovered or not, you must report back to the Company, understood, Soldier!"

After speaking, Komack drove away.

Lin Fang watched the vehicle disappear into the distance before lowering his gaze and walking into the residential building.

"3-305..."

Lin Fang recalled the information Komack had given him and quickly found his home. No key was needed; it was fingerprint unlocked.

Upon opening the door, an electronic voice sounded in the room. The voice was gentle and neutral, with no obvious gender inclination, yet carried just the right amount of affinity.

"Welcome home, Mr. Sean. Would you like me to turn on the thermostat? Your preferred temperature is 68.6 degrees Fahrenheit?"

It seemed that artificial intelligence was quite widespread in this world, especially since this residential building was unremarkable compared to the luxurious buildings he had seen on his way here.

This just made things easier for him.

Lin Fang thought silently, a dramatic smile appearing on his face. Suddenly, a silver-white USB drive appeared in his hand.
