67: Chapter 67 Speculation on Abilities
...
Internationally, there are three categories of weight classes: E1 and E2 grades have extremely high precision and are used for scientific research calibration; F1 and F2 grades are commonly found in industrial and commercial precision measurements; M1 and M2 grades have slightly lower precision, meeting the needs of ordinary weighing.
On Lin Fang's work desk, there was a white box containing just such a set of standard weights.
After opening the lid, Lin Fang looked at the E1-grade weight marked as 1 gram. It was circular, with a thickness about that of a fingernail.
Activating his ability...
No, wait. As Lin Fang focused his mind, this 1-gram weight eerily floated out of the box, as if an invisible hand had taken it out.
It hung quietly suspended before Lin Fang's eyes.
"Rotate," Lin Fang commanded in his mind.
The weight in the air, as if given a gentle flick by someone, began to spin in place. But it wasn't moving by inertia; it rotated at a constant speed, one revolution after another, as if constantly enveloped by a Force Field.
The laser tachometer beside it displayed a current rotation speed of 200 rpm (revolutions per minute).
Accelerate.
Lin Fang concentrated, and the rotation speed of this weight noticeably increased.
300 rpm,
400 rpm,
...
777 rpm,
At this speed, the Force Field enveloping the weight seemed to have reached its limit. No matter how hard the young man stared, it didn't increase further.
As time passed, Lin Fang felt a wave of weakness wash over him. He was almost out of 'mana'.
Plink!
The weight fell onto the desk with a metallic clink, then quickly came to rest.
Lin Fang, however, was in good spirits. Just a week ago, his maximum speed was only 750 rpm. Clearly, through training, this power could also grow, even though compared to a cheat, this improvement was insignificant.
After resting for a while, he began the next test.
Lin Fang closed his eyes, letting his consciousness extend like tentacles to probe forward. He 'saw' the weight again. Passing it, Lin Fang saw a ruler. Continuing forward, at a distance of 1.21 meters, he could see nothing more; it became a void.
Lin Fang remained with his eyes closed, but his brow furrowed tightly.
A weight marked as 100 grams from the weight box floated up and began to spin in the air. This time, however, the speed was much slower, weak and laborious like an old donkey turning a millstone.
One careless moment, and he even 'stepped on a child' (lost control).
The 'image' of the object before Lin Fang's mind's eye began to flicker and distort. This 100-gram weight soon fell down.
This was the ability Lin Fang had gained after breaking through his limit. Initially, he had thought he had obtained something like psychic power or telekinesis as described in novels.
Excited by this, he couldn't sleep all night, ready to begin cultivation and prepare to 'not eat beef' (embrace an ascetic or special lifestyle).
However, after a chance occurrence, Lin Fang dismissed this guess. At the time, when he put this weight he had been practicing with back into the box, he noticed the 1 mg weight beside it move slightly.
An ordinary person would have missed it, but Lin Fang keenly detected this subtle change. To ensure it wasn't an illusion caused by being 'out of mana', he conducted multiple verifications, ruling out factors like static electricity.
Only then did he dare confirm: this rotated weight had become magnetized.
Clearly, the reason for its magnetization was definitely due to the 'training' with his new ability. But why would this ability cause it to become magnetized?
Bold speculation, careful verification.
Dismissing the idea of it being due to overexertion, Lin Fang turned his attention to one of the four fundamental forces of the universe: electromagnetic force.
This also explained why the objects he 'saw' with his 'spiritual sense' were all the same color. Lin Fang had thought he might be 'psychically colorblind'.
Assuming the power in his brain was electromagnetic force, how did it propel this weight?
The interaction between magnetic and electric fields?
If the source of the force rotating the object was creating a highly concentrated local electric field around it, relying on the electric field to generate thrust, then the magnetization of the weight could be explained.
Next, a point could serve as evidence. If his ability was truly manipulating electromagnetic force, and the essence of electromagnetic force is the interaction between charged particles and photons, it meant that if Lin Fang willed it, he could control electric current.
If that were the case, verification wouldn't be complicated.
Lin Fang looked at the computer, directing the tentacle in his mind to 'touch' it. Soon, the computer screen's image began to flicker erratically, as if it were near a strong magnetic field. When he withdrew the tentacle, the image immediately returned to normal.
At this point, there was no need for further doubt. The hypothesis stood: the manifestation of his ability was mastery over electromagnetic force.
It was only today,
that Lin Fang could be considered familiar with his ability. He rated this ability of his a 10 out of 10. All matter is bound by electromagnetic force. Although currently he could only flip weights and zap mosquitoes, later, through his own efforts, adding 'points', and transitioning from the macroscopic to the microscopic,
he would become omnipotent.
Tsk, it has a bit of that Dr. Manhattan flavor.
Two hours of daily training ended. Lin Fang collected the weights from the desk one by one and placed them back in the box. This training consumed a tremendous amount of energy.
Early the next morning,
after a simple breakfast, Lin Fang turned his gaze toward the Black Star. Before entering the resident evil world again, he needed to find a vehicle capable of easily traversing tens of thousands of miles. Nothing was more suitable than the Venom World.
Sigh, it's tiring, but it's all to save the world.

Lin Fang flipped through the map of the Venom World in his mind and randomly chose the roof of an airport terminal building located in Japan.
...

"Meling, even though the bonus has doubled in the last two months, I still prefer the old work life,"
a sweet-looking woman complained to her companion in the airport locker room. "It's just too exhausting now. I'm not used to it at all."
The other woman stuck out her tongue and said, "It's not so bad. It's all Raiders's fault for snatching away Hamada Airport. Now everyone has to come to ours."
"Ah, no matter what, I just don't want to go to work!"
Whoosh—
Commotion seemed to be coming from outside.
The two women, who were changing into their flight attendant uniforms, initially paid no mind until the noise grew louder. They hurriedly ran out to see everyone gathered in the airport's departure area.
Meling and Tsukishima Yuna walked over. Seeing the nearly two-kilometer-long deep trench, their eyes widened instantly. Where was the main runway? Their group's plane was parked there.
"It was Raiders. He was just here," a male flight attendant nearby murmured.
"How is that possible..."
Tsukishima Yuna's face was full of disbelief. "Our captain will be so upset."
Tears of sorrow welled up in the male flight attendant's eyes:
"He stuffed Captain Kanna into the plane and stole him away too!"
...
...
Thirty-six hours later, an airplane materialized again on an open piece of land in Japan. Lin Fang cursed under his breath and kicked the unlucky captain out.
"Almost forgot, you can't come out over there."
