199: Chapter 199 Benefiting Humanity
Having been on this island for two days, the members of the United Nations Economic and Trade Committee had scurried around almost every corner like mice.
But apart from grumbling a few words about this company's ambitious designs, they found almost nothing unusual. It seemed this was genuinely just a tech company with formidable technical prowess.
But would everyone believe that?
No! If they would believe it, they wouldn't have lingered here. On the contrary, they only felt that this company was hiding its depths so well that they couldn't find the slightest handle on them.
In the conference room, many were whispering. Today, the elusive company founder, Lin Fang, was finally going to appear. This was also the moment that would determine the outcome of this trip.
The door was pushed open, and Lin Fang strolled in. The conference room was now packed, but the most eye-catching figures were undoubtedly Laxson and that Central Continent Minister Zhang sitting right in the middle.
Both were big shots frequently seen in news media. Lin Fang naturally recognized them.
As Lin Fang entered, everyone's gaze focused on him. They were all secretly astonished. As the dossier said, the young man before them was only 21. To wield such a vast commercial empire at such a young age, and recently to have stirred up world events—it was truly incredible.
This was also what they found most unusual.
And when Minister Zhang from the Central Continent saw Lin Fang enter, his eyes lit up. His gaze was as if looking at a rare treasure.
Xu Anqing prepared to introduce the people present to Lin Fang. "President Lin, the person beside me is..."
"Ms. Xu, no need for introductions,"
Minister Zhang suddenly stood up. Under everyone's surprised gazes, he slowly walked to stand before Lin Fang and said with emotion, "Mr. Lin, meeting you has truly been difficult. But at this moment, I suddenly feel this trip was worth it."
This leader even proactively extended his hand.
Lin Fang didn't presume. He quickly stepped forward and shook hands with both hands, saying modestly, "Minister Zhang, you flatter me too much. I am merely a businessman, unworthy of such high praise from you. If I hadn't genuinely been tied up these past two days, I would have wanted to meet you much sooner."
"Hahaha,"
Seeing Lin Fang's polite attitude, Minister Zhang laughed happily. After exchanging a few pleasantries with Lin Fang, he suddenly turned his head and said to everyone, "Everyone, look! Look! This is Lin Fang, an outstanding entrepreneur from our Central Continent. Truly young and accomplished. Don't anyone think you can bully him because of his youth. I won't stand for it."
This refined middle-aged man's voice was firm, carrying undisguised admiration.
The atmosphere in the conference room instantly became subtle.
Minister Zhang's words were less an introduction and more a declaration of the Central Continent's stance: the Central Continent would support Third-Party Technology, so don't be Ungrateful.
Afterwards, Lin Fang shook hands and got acquainted with everyone present before finally returning to his seat.
At first, no one broached the main subject. They chatted back and forth until they ran out of things to say, and the atmosphere began to turn awkward.
Lin Fang's attitude towards these people was essentially to ignore them if possible. He was only more enthusiastic when conversing with Minister Zhang.
He wanted to see how long these people could hold out. As long as he wasn't embarrassed, they would be the ones feeling awkward.
Finally, someone couldn't sit still anymore. It was Laxson Reed, the Minister of Foreign Commerce for the American nation. "Mr. Lin, you should know we didn't come here to chat about trivialities with you."
Faced with the Central Continent's obvious favoritism, only he could broach this topic.
"Oh?" Lin Fang said hesitantly. "Minister Laxson, so in your eyes, matters concerning how to reduce global carbon dioxide emissions and improve people's living standards are trivialities? If reported, that would be unfortunate news."
Laxson was choked up, his expression displeased. "Mr. Lin, we need to discuss specific issues. Your company's recent use of improper means to conduct equity acquisitions worldwide has severely disrupted market order. You need to give us an explanation."
Lin Fang retorted without mincing words, "I recall all these share acquisitions were conducted through Regulated Exchanges. How can they be called improper?"
"But what about those consortia who sold you the shares?" Laxson sneered. "Don't tell me they have no connection to you?"
Lin Fang thought for a moment and said, "Perhaps they saw I had money and sold to me. Minister Laxson, there were also American consortia among them. If you have a problem, go find them."
Another middle-aged man, half-bald, spoke up. Lin Fang remembered his name was Lucas, from the EU. "Mr. Lin, what I'm more curious about is how your company's technology came about. According to our investigations, your company has no relevant technical accumulation, yet you've out of thin air produced several world-shaking technologies in succession. That doesn't conform to logic, does it?"
"I've heard some even speculate that Mr. Lin obtained alien technology, but that's too incredible. Better for Mr. Lin to give us an explanation."
Laxson also laughed. "Indeed, I would very much like to know as well."
As these two spoke, the gazes in the conference room fixed intently on Lin Fang, as if trying to bore a hole through him.
Facing the wolf-like, greedy stares of the crowd, Lin Fang suddenly let out a light laugh and shook his head. "Of course not. They all came from the hands of my company's scientists. Like Professor Mite, Professor Dreisen, Professor Yodelion... You all must have heard of them. Genius inspiration strikes in an instant. Perhaps the only thing that sets me apart is that I have an eye for spotting them."
Just as the two were about to press further, Minister Zhang coughed twice and said, "I agree with Mr. Lin. Human wisdom is boundless. There's no such thing as impractical stuff like alien technology. Let's not waste time asking."
After After several entanglements, these people still wouldn't relent. They asked about other issues, but Lin Fang before them was like a sealed gourd—impenetrable, yielding no useful information.
Finally, someone lost patience.
Laxson's gaze burned intensely. "Mr. Lin, actually, I came here for another matter. On behalf of the American government, I wish to purchase the technical data for the cancer Special medicine and the IMM External electrode. I hope you will agree. If you agree, everything can be discussed."
"That's impossible," Lin Fang refused outright. "Those two technologies are the foundation of my company. I will not sell them to anyone, not even for non-commercial use."
"It's the same principle as someone asking to buy your country's most advanced weapons. Would you sell them?"
"Why wouldn't it be possible?"
Lucas, sitting opposite Lin Fang, suddenly spoke up. "Didn't your company keep saying you want to benefit humanity? Selling these technologies to us would allow wider Promotion and application in society. Sacrificing the small self for the greater self—that's truly benefiting humanity."
"Yes, yes."
Immediately, others in the conference room chimed in agreement.
"So this is what you had in mind..." Facing the aggressive atmosphere in the conference room, Lin Fang stroked his chin. Then, under everyone's gaze, he sighed and uttered amazing words:
"You know, what I hate most is dealing with idiots, especially the ones who just spoke."
