314: Chapter 314 Cooperation

As Tang Feilong's words landed, the representative of the India, one of the countries that proposed the meeting, could no longer sit still.

"Mr. Chairman, fellow representatives," the India representative said with a look of grief and indignation, looking at Tang Feilong and the others.

"Under pressure from Third-Party Technology, our side previously did not announce to the public the losses suffered due to the Space-Based Weapons tests conducted by Third-Party Technology."

"In fact, over a dozen of our villages and towns were severely damaged by the shockwaves and subsequent tsunamis triggered by the Space-Based Weapons. At least thousands are missing or in urgent need of rescue, and the damage to infrastructure is immeasurable."

The India representative's face flushed as he continued,

"And this was merely because a private company wanted to showcase its military might. I do not believe this was an accident; it was a foreseeable consequence. Third-Party Technology went ahead with this experiment with full knowledge that it would cause a disaster."

"This is not just a provocation; it is a crime against humanity! It is a blatant trampling of the most basic norms of international law!"

"This disaster has sufficiently proven that while Third-Party Technology appears to be a commercial company on the surface, it is, in reality, an anti-human organization that disregards life and tramples on rules!" The India representative's voice grew more emotional, his eyes reddening.

"They hold weapons of mass destruction capable of destroying the world, yet they treat human lives like weeds!"

"Mr. Chairman, representatives of member states, I implore you all to see the true face of Third-Party Technology. They are not a tech enterprise; they are a terrorist organization threatening global security. Today they can bring disaster to the India; tomorrow they could spread the flames of war to any country!"

The India representative spread his arms,

"I am here to issue an appeal! I ask all member states to cast aside self-interest, uphold justice, and jointly implement the strictest comprehensive sanctions against Third-Party Technology, freeze all its overseas assets, shut down all its technical and trade channels, and hold it accountable for its crimes against humanity!"

These words prompted several non-permanent council members to speak up in support, listing the dangers of Third-Party Technology.

"I would like to say a few words on behalf of America..."

Just then, the American representative spoke. This middle-aged white man stood up and cleared his throat. To everyone's surprise—and even prompting gasps—he actually opposed the sanctions against Third-Party Technology.

"Mr. Apukeli, on behalf of America, I express deep sympathy and condolences for the losses suffered by the India in this incident. But have you considered what will happen to our patients if we ban this company from operating in our countries? You must know that their medicines have benefited countless people."

"Furthermore, the target of the Space-Based Weapons launch was the high seas; the location they chose complies with international law. As for why it affected you, it might just be simple bad luck. After all, it's an experiment; there are bound to be some errors."

"Mr. Laxson, you..." The India representative was dumbfounded. The other party was clearly one of the members who proposed this session; why was he suddenly saying such things?

The former ignored him and spoke directly to the assembly, "As everyone knows, America has always been a staunch defender of free markets and international law."

Laxson looked around the room, his tone composed. "We believe that it is unreasonable to unilaterally sanction an enterprise that has made outstanding contributions in multiple fields—especially in the pharmaceutical field concerning human health—before the facts have been fully clarified."

"Therefore, I oppose the proposal of the India representative!"

Everyone looked at each other in bewilderment.

Hearing his words, Tang Feilong also glanced at Laxson with some doubt before saying:

"Then let us put it to a vote."

"According to the rules of procedure of the Security Council," Tang Feilong announced:

"We will now vote on the 'Draft Resolution on Implementing Comprehensive Sanctions against Third-Party Technology and Initiating an Investigation into Crimes Against Humanity.' Representatives, please state your positions in turn."

Laxson said without hesitation,

"America opposes!"

"England opposes!"

"France opposes!"

"Russia opposes!"

The resolutions of the four permanent council members were stated one after another. At this point, four of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council had clearly stated their positions. According to the veto power rule, this resolution was effectively dead; there was no longer even a need to proceed to the counting stage.

"Central Continent opposes,"

Chairman Tang Feilong's expression remained calm as he lightly tapped the gavel, breaking the silence.

"According to the Security Council's voting rules and the permanent members' veto system, since the five permanent members have cast negative votes against the draft resolution, the draft resolution has failed to pass."

The other council members watched this scene in stunned silence. What on earth had happened to make these five nations unite?

Even if they didn't agree to sanction Third-Party Technology, according to past practice, there would usually be at least one country that voted in favor or abstained.

The India representative felt like a clown. Not only had America turned its back, but even Russia, which usually disagreed with America on certain issues, had actually stood on the same front at this moment to oppose sanctioning Third-Party Technology.

Regardless, the council meeting initiated against Third-Party Technology had come to an end.

After walking out of the meeting room, a hint of doubt finally appeared in Tang Feilong's eyes as he prepared to return. He had originally received orders from above to try his best to exonerate Third-Party Technology, but now it seemed he wasn't needed at all. Moreover, it appeared the other four countries had received more or less the same orders.

What exactly happened?

Tang Feilong's confusion was no less than that of the India and the other representatives.

——

At this time, what most people didn't know was that beneath the UN Headquarters, in a room only The Big Five were eligible to enter, another meeting was taking place.

The meeting room had only five national flags and a long table.

Five people sat on one side of the long table. Their faces were incredibly familiar to the whole world, but at this moment, they had completely shed their official identities and adversarial stances from public settings.

The leaders of the five permanent members of the Security Council had actually gathered here in secret. If anyone in the world saw this scene, they would be horrified.

Opposite them sat only a young man with black hair and black eyes, wearing casual clothes.

"Mr. Lin, has Third-Party Technology really mastered Nuclear Fusion technology and promised to let us use it?"

President TP, who usually wore a somewhat theatrical smile, now had nothing but unprecedented solemnity on his face. The other four leaders were much the same.

Given the technology this company had demonstrated, this was highly likely not a falsehood.

"It's just a cooperation. I will send a team to work with you to build Nuclear Fusion power plants, and Third-Party Technology will take a portion of the profits."

Lin Fang spoke with a smile,

"To be perfectly honest, all the wars you've started are insignificant in my eyes. This is your only choice."
