157: Chapter 157 Entering the Wormhole

Yvette carefully placed the prepared milk bottle in front of the boy again. "It's ready to drink."

A black tentacle coiled around the bottle. Venom's hideous head emerged from behind the boy, took a sip, and said, "Very delicious, I've already grown fond of this taste."

"I want some too..." the boy, Soren, whispered, his eyes staring longingly at the milk bottle as his small hand reached out to snatch it from Venom.

"Brat, this is mine," Venom's deep voice carried a hint of dissatisfaction.

But the boy wasn't afraid. Instead, he tugged on the tentacle even harder. Venom had no choice but to slowly hand the bottle toward him, but just as the boy was about to grab it, Venom suddenly yanked it back. "Jie jie, I tricked you!"

Venom drained the milk in an instant, causing Soren to pout and burst into tears.

"Little crybaby, you look so cute when you cry."

Venom laughed wickedly. Yvette was almost ready to rush forward and fight it when the light nearby distorted slightly. A black-haired, black-eyed young man appeared out of thin air. His appearance was abrupt, yet it carried a strange harmony, as if he were always meant to be there.

"Ah—" Yvette was startled by this sudden occurrence and let out a sharp cry.

What shocked her even more was that Venom, who had been arrogant and overbearing just a second ago, was now like a frightened kitten. Its black tentacles retracted rapidly, detached from the boy, and crawled up the young man's arm.

"Fang, this kid keeps crying. He's so annoying!"

Lin Fang ignored Venom's words and walked toward the terrified Yvette Lemaire. She seemed to have realized who the young man before her was.

"I have good news, Ms. Lemaire. From today onward, I will no longer occupy this boy's body." Lin Fang pinched Soren's cheek. The boy had stopped crying and was now just staring wide-eyed at this person who had suddenly appeared.

"Is that true? You... you're really not coming back..."

Yvette covered her mouth in disbelief. A moment later, realizing she was being a bit too emotional, she hurriedly said:

"Your Excellency, I... I didn't mean it like that, I..." Yvette suddenly stood up and bowed deeply to Lin Fang.

"I understand that Your Excellency saved Soren's life in the beginning; otherwise, he would have died. Thank you so much, thank you truly..."

Seeing the woman starting to sob uncontrollably, Lin Fang smiled and said, "I won't lie to you."

After speaking, Lin Fang prepared to leave. He needed to go to the PPDC Base to have people enter the Wormhole and explore the Precursors' world. If he didn't hurry and the Precursors closed the Wormhole after seeing things go south, it would be a true cause for despair.

"Goodbye, crybaby!" Venom, on Lin Fang's body, made a waving gesture to the mother and son. "Madam, thank you for the milk. It was truly delicious."

Lin Fang: ...

Lin Fang shook his head and picked up the communicator left there by the PPDC, asking Teks to arrange for someone to pick him up. Although he could fly there, it wasn't nearly as comfortable as being flown in.

—

By the time the armed helicopter landed, Teks and his group were already waiting. Many people's eyes flickered when they saw Lin Fang's appearance; it turned out he had a Central Continent face.

Lin Fang said indifferently, "It seems the Commander is a bit surprised?"

Teks quickly masked the surprise on his face and stepped forward to shake Lin Fang's hand. "Your Excellency, it is indeed a bit unexpected, but I mean nothing by it. I am just surprised that Your Excellency's true appearance is so young."

"The things you requested are ready. We can depart at any time."

"Let's make it today."

Lin Fang exchanged pleasantries casually and walked side-by-side with Teks into the command center. The most eye-catching things inside were the three brand-new Jaegers in the center. According to Teks's introduction, from left to right, they were 'Polaris Guard', 'Tango Wolf', and 'Starbreaker'. They were all Mark-5 Jaegers.

This mission was to go deep under the Pacific Ocean and enter the Precursors' world. Lin Fang himself was part of it, and his Jaeger was the one on the far right, Starbreaker.

This Jaeger featured an overall white paint scheme with sloped shoulder armor. A set of multi-barrel rocket pods hung on each side, followed by long-handled combat blades on both arms.

Two hours later, the operation was about to begin.

As Lin Fang finished dressing and prepared to enter, Teks said cautiously, "Your Excellency, even for the most elite pilots, there has never been a precedent for a single person piloting a Mark-5 Jaeger..."

Lin Fang: "I've already piloted one."

Teks was choked up by this blunt response. He suddenly thought of the missing Eureka Striker, opened his mouth, and finally let out a bitter smile. "You're right."

The moment the hatches of the four Jaegers closed, Teks said solemnly through the communicator, "Good luck to you all."

When the transport aircraft reached the center of the Pacific Ocean, it was already afternoon. The weather was dark and gloomy, with fierce winds whipping the deep black seawater into massive waves.

"Reached target waters. Detaching for transport."

Following the command, the three Jaegers—carrying Kaiju remains on their backs—unlatched from the transport aircraft simultaneously and fell, their massive steel bodies crashing heavily into the water.

In just an instant, the Jaegers were swallowed by the surging seawater. Light faded rapidly, and the sound of the wind and waves on the surface was replaced by a silence, leaving only the hum of the Jaegers' internal circulation systems and the sound of water rushing past the armor.

The Jaegers were descending rapidly.

Lin Fang easily reached the deep-sea forbidden zone that was normally inaccessible to humans.

Humans cannot contend with nature; when you see a hurricane coming, you'd better run as far as possible. However, once you put on a Jaeger, you gain the ability to withstand a hurricane.

And even defeat it...

"Command, Polaris Guard status normal."

"Tango Wolf status normal."

Routine reports from the other two Jaegers came through the public communication channel. Lin Fang also knew the pilots of these two Jaegers: Polaris Guard was controlled by the Hansen father and son, while Tango Wolf was controlled by Raleigh Becket and Mako Mori—the male and female leads from the movie.

Previously, these two pairs' Jaegers had been gathering dust at the Black Watch Base.

Lin Fang felt he was in good condition. Since gaining energy replenishment in the real world, he had occasionally piloted Eureka Striker into the passage; the current situation was nothing to speak of.

Through the Jaeger's visor, Lin Fang could already see the shimmering volcanic vent at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Inside was the Wormhole leading to the Precursors' world.

Almost there.

[Clear. No Kaiju signatures detected.]

Following the prompt from the command room, Lin Fang was less than two hundred meters from the Wormhole below. Though it was a bit strange that the Precursors hadn't sent any Kaiju to intercept them,

He couldn't worry about that now. He had to visit their world. After slightly adjusting his direction, the Mark-5 Jaeger named Starbreaker plunged directly into the Wormhole below and vanished.
