148: Seafood noodles next to the pink church
After dropping off the junior older female student, Li Qinghe went to see the sophomore younger female student; he was very busy.
The Pink Church was in the center of Da Nang, and Li Qinghe checked his electronic map; it was less than 5 kilometers from the hotel.
However, constantly taking taxis made him feel a bit annoyed because waiting all the time didn't feel free enough.
So, Li Qinghe directly asked the hotel front desk to rent a motorcycle.
In Vietnam, most hotels have affiliated motorcycle rental services, though prices are 10% to 20% higher than street-side shops.
Hotel motorcycle rental services are generally better, offering corresponding rescue services, and the quality of the motorcycles is also relatively better, which suits tourists who prefer stability.
Li Qinghe simply didn't check out and used his room card to rent a motorcycle at the hotel front desk; the rental fee was 160,000 vietnamese dong per day, which converts to less than 50 dragon country currency.
The motorcycle was in a shop next to the hotel; Li Qinghe chose a large scooter, as he was used to riding this type of motorcycle in Hanoi.
With one vehicle and two helmets, Li Qinghe put on his helmet, skillfully started the engine, and set off.
His first stop was a nearby gas station to fill up the tank, and then he roared off on his motorcycle towards the Pink Church... or rather, a seafood Rice Noodles shop nearby.
Amidst the surging motorcycle traffic, Li Qinghe found his rhythm, just like riding in Hanoi, deftly weaving left and right, arriving at Chen Yuyingqiong's shared location in about ten minutes.
He successfully found the Rice Noodles shop she mentioned; according to Chen Yuyingqiong, this shop had been open for over thirty years and was a reputable old establishment.
Li Qinghe parked his motorcycle at the entrance, took off his helmet, and walked into the Rice Noodles shop; Chen Yuyingqiong was already waiting for him inside.
Because they had been in constant contact along the way, by the time Li Qinghe arrived, Chen Yuyingqiong had already ordered his seafood Rice Noodles.
She said she was treating Li Qinghe to seafood Rice Noodles, and this was real seafood.
Li Qinghe sat down, observing Chen Yuyingqiong in front of him; today, the bespectacled girl was dressed more brightly than last night, clearly having put some effort into her appearance.
She sat on a small chair next to the dining table, resting her chin in her hand.
A short, fitted dress with a small pointed collar hugged her curvaceous figure, a sleeveless design revealed her charming collarbones, and her long legs were exposed beneath the short skirt.
Chen Yuyingqiong
"Brother He, hurry, the Rice Noodles just arrived."
Chen Yuyingqiong happily stood up to greet Li Qinghe.
"Did A Quynh come very early?"
"Not very early; I don't have classes today, so I slept until 9:30 before getting up," Chen Yuyingqiong smiled, pursing her lips.
"When you don't have classes, do you usually let yourself sleep in a bit more?"
Li Qinghe suddenly asked a question in English.
"Yes, sleeping in a bit more when I'm resting makes me feel more energetic," Chen Yuyingqiong immediately responded in English.
This was what Chen Yuyingqiong liked about Li Qinghe; not only was he tall and handsome, but his fluent English made her almost believe that the person sitting opposite her was a native English speaker.
Now, even while eating a bowl of Rice Noodles together, he thoughtfully chose to communicate in English, fitting the scene.
This touched Chen Yuyingqiong deeply.
Chen Yuyingqiong ordered the shop's most signature seafood Rice Noodles for Li Qinghe, a large bowl filled with clams, large shrimp, fish balls, and squid, along with spring rolls, which are indispensable in Vietnam.
The spring rolls at this shop were simply rice paper rolls with large shrimp, accompanied by lemongrass leaves and minced pork, looking quite appetizing.
Li Qinghe asked the owner for a small bowl of soy sauce and some small chili peppers; he still didn't like fish sauce.
Seeing that Li Qinghe didn't like fish sauce, Chen Yuyingqiong was a bit surprised; in her understanding, there was no Vietnamese who didn't like fish sauce.
Li Qinghe thought for a moment and decided to be frank with her.
Li Qinghe told her in English that he was Dragon Country People, so he wasn't used to the taste of fish sauce, but he really liked the seafood Rice Noodles and spring rolls Chen Yuyingqiong ordered.
Chen Yuyingqiong was a bit surprised by the information Li Qinghe conveyed; she dropped English and immediately asked Li Qinghe in Vietnamese, surprised, to confirm: "Brother He, are you really Dragon Country People? You're not lying to me, are you?"
"Of course, a genuine Dragon Country People, no fakes allowed."
Li Qinghe struck a bodybuilder pose in front of her.
"Brother He, you're amazing! Not only do you speak English so fluently, but your Vietnamese is also excellent."
Chen Yuyingqiong was full of admiration; Li Qinghe hadn't revealed it before, and she had originally thought he was a local Vietnamese, even a bit surprised, as tall Vietnamese men who weren't mixed-race were uncommon.
Knowing Li Qinghe was Dragon Country People, she suddenly found it made sense.
"Hello, my name is Chen Yuyingqiong, it's nice to meet you..." Chen Yuyingqiong suddenly introduced herself to Li Qinghe in not-so-fluent Chinese language.
Goodness, she truly deserved to be an academic; after learning English, she also learned Chinese language.
After giving a thumbs-up, Li Qinghe corrected a few of Chen Yuyingqiong's pronunciations.
After some multilingual communication, the two finally buried their heads in their Rice Noodles.
Chen Yuyingqiong ate slowly, and her eating manners were refined.
Li Qinghe, on the other hand, ate his seafood gracefully yet quickly.
He would bite off a piece of shrimp, skillfully peel the shell with his tongue, spit out the shell, and eat the shrimp meat; this way, he didn't even need to use his hands to eat shrimp.
Seeing Li Qinghe's way of eating shrimp, Chen Yuyingqiong smiled, pursing her lips, and also sped up her eating.
After their lunch, Li Qinghe learned that Chen Yuyingqiong had taken a Grab motorcycle to get there, so he smiled and led her to a large scooter, handing her a helmet.
"Then today, we'll go on a motorcycle tour."
Chen Yuyingqiong generously took the helmet and put it on, then sat sideways behind Li Qinghe; her dress was a bit short today, making it unsuitable to straddle the seat.
The motorcycle rode for less than two minutes, emerging from the alley and parking in a parking lot; the parking fee here was 3,000 vietnamese dong per hour, which converts to about eighty cents in dragon country currency.
They had now arrived at a very famous Catholic church in Da Nang, which has a pink exterior and is generally called the Pink Church by outsiders, but locals call it the Rooster Church.
Da Nang Pink Church
Because on the highest spire, in addition to the cross, there is also a rooster sculpture, a legacy left by the French colonists.
The Gallic rooster had to be included everywhere, so locals named it the Rooster Church based on this feature.
It is also a place of prayer for thousands of local Catholics.
"Brother He, we've arrived at just the right time; inside the church, on non-Sundays, it's free to visit from eleven in the morning to two in the afternoon."
Chen Yuyingqiong happily told Li Qinghe that the church is only open to worshipers on Sundays, and others are not allowed to visit.
It is only open for visits during the period from eleven in the morning to two in the afternoon on weekdays.
Li Qinghe asked Chen Yuyingqiong to repeat the last sentence in English.
Chen Yuyingqiong stammered through half of it and then couldn't say any more.
Li Qinghe patiently taught her how to say the rest in English, and Nguyen Ngoc Anh Quynh learned a few new words.
The two walked and conversed, but fell silent when they entered the church.
The interior of this church was similar to many others: a two-story arched hall, rows of prayer chairs, and statues.
On the cloisters on both sides, sunlight streamed through the stained glass, casting colorful hues.
Li Qinghe took several photos of Chen Yuyingqiong in the cloister, and his superb photography skills brought Chen Yuyingqiong great surprise.
For girls, their favorable impression of a guy who is good at photography skyrockets very quickly.
"Brother He, why don't we go to Linh Ung Pagoda at noon? The scenery there is also excellent." Chen Yuyingqiong, still not satisfied with taking photos at the Pink Church, proactively suggested.
