250: Task Force 141's first battle
Nguyen Thi Xuan Tao had already taken out the pistol from the armrest box.
It was clear that she was a little nervous about the situation.
Because the Mercedes S450 they were driving was not an armored version; it was just a regular luxury car.
When the opponent is unknown, it's a very difficult experience, especially for someone like Nguyen Thi Xuan Tao, who is tasked with bodyguard duties; no amount of caution is too much.
Li Qinghe pressed the split-lens camera directly against the window of the van.
He could see five well-built men sitting in the seven-seater vehicle.
Through the half-open window, he could hear them chatting casually inside.
They weren't speaking Vietnamese; they were speaking Cambodian.
And Li Qinghe happened to understand all Southeast Asian languages.
"Bong Eun, should we kill everyone in the car?"
A dark, thin man with slightly crossed eyes, sitting in the back seat, pulled out a pistol from his waistband and checked it.
When he spoke of killing everyone in the car, his expression was very calm, as if he were talking about killing a cage full of chickens.
"Roka, don't be so eager to kill. This is Vietnam, not Cambodia."
The man in the passenger seat also pulled out a pistol from his waistband, ejected the magazine, and then added:
"Roka, you must remember, we are here for money. This is a direct descendant of a prominent Vietnamese family. If she is killed on the road, they will go crazy, and we might be found even if we escape back to Cambodia."
The man named Bong Eun looked back slightly at Roka behind him: "We just need to serve as a warning. You wouldn't want to fall into endless fleeing after getting this small amount of money, would you?"
"Brother Bong Eun, then if we just blow out their car tires, that should serve as a sufficient warning, right?"
Sitting in the very back was a short man, an AK-47 resting horizontally in his hands. From the mottled handguard, it was clear that this gun had seen many years of use.
He sat alone in the back row, his eyes sharply fixed on the large circular emblem of the Mercedes S450 in front.
In his experience, firing at this distance would make it very difficult to avoid accidentally injuring the people inside the car.
"The map given by the other party shows a big turn 2 kilometers ahead. At that point, the car's speed will be even lower, and we can make our move there."
The driver, who had been silent, glanced at the electronic map in his hand and calmly offered this suggestion.
"If those people gave us a little more, we could escape to Thailand to live."
This was a man sitting in the second row. He didn't wipe the AK-47 beside him; instead, he took out a dagger and meticulously wiped it with a cloth.
"There's an old saying in Dragon Country: 'You get what you pay for.' We just need to do the job casually."
Bong Eun clicked the magazine back into his pistol.
Hearing this, Li Qinghe already understood that these people were coming for Vu Linh Huong.
Observing from above with the Weilai camera, only this one vehicle had followed them.
Since they were planning to make their move 2 kilometers ahead, weapons have no eyes; in such an environment, no one can guarantee that a bullet won't hit them.
On the way here, he was still wondering when Task Force 141 could be used.
Now was the time to use them.
A deployment range of 2 kilometers allowed Li Qinghe to freely choose the appearance location of Task Force 141 members.
The five people in the car looked like hardened thugs who had spilled plenty of blood, but thugs are just thugs—they've just taken a lot of wild paths and aren't afraid of death, that's all.
In this situation, there was no need to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
So, Li Qinghe carefully considered their content and summoned three fully armed Task Force members.
The deployment location was on the roadside 1 kilometer ahead.
Traffic and pedestrian flow here were very sparse; if anything happened, by the time the Vietnamese police arrived, it would be too late.
"There's a big bend 1.5 kilometers ahead. I estimate the car behind us might choose that spot to make their move, Mr. Li. You'll need to hold onto the armrest and protect Miss Lingxiang later."
Nguyen Thi Xuan Tao, driving, gave instructions to Li Qinghe.
She didn't notice, however, that three brown-haired, blue-eyed Westerners had already appeared, prone, on the roadside about eight hundred meters ahead.
They held Kilo141 rifles, equipped with Sig Sauer 'Whisperer' suppressed barrels and 50-round magazines, with the safety off and ready to fire, their muzzles firmly aimed at the road.
Kilo141 Assault Rifle
"Attention, target has entered 400 meters."
"Target entered 300 meters."
"Target entered 200 meters."
"Fire!"
A series of muffled "thuds." The driver was the first to be killed, and the van swerved into a roadside ditch, getting stuck there. Then, Bong Eun in the passenger seat and several men in the back were indiscriminately mowed down.
In less than a minute, two low-crawling figures appeared beside the van, their tactical gloved hands covered with rubber finger cots.
One provided cover while the other opened the car door to verify the results of the attack; another stood guard behind them.
"Confirm all targets eliminated."
"Alright, guys, we need to find a place to hide for four and a half hours now."
"Oh god, this feeling of waiting to disappear is terrible."
"Boss is too fond of us; he let us do such an easy mission on our first time here."
"Oh come on, who almost dropped their spare magazine just now?"
The three Task Force 141 special forces soldiers relaxed after completing their mission, joking with each other as they left the area.
As soon as the Task Force 141 special forces fired the first shot,
Nguyen Thi Xuan Tao keenly noticed the abnormality behind them. She almost witnessed the entire process of the attack on the van through the rearview mirror.
"Oh no, even mercenaries are involved."
Nguyen Thi Xuan Tao's low exclamation woke Vu Linh Huong, who had just fallen asleep.
"Chuntao, what's wrong? Oh my, darling, your heart is beating so fast. Has something happened?"
Vu Linh Huong, still groggy, lifted her head from Li Qinghe's embrace.
"Miss Lingxiang, something is very wrong..."
Nguyen Thi Xuan Tao slowed the car to navigate a large bend ahead, while explaining everything in detail to Vu Linh Huong: from noticing a car following them after leaving the Cao Dai temple, to the recent attack on that car by several fully armed mercenaries.
As Nguyen Thi Xuan Tao recounted the events, Vu Linh Huong's eyes went from bewildered to clear, and finally, a cold glint flashed in them: "To treat me as part of your game, then I won't play with you anymore."
She immediately picked up her phone and first called the Cardinal of Cao Dai, simply saying, "They've made a move against me."
Then she hung up and called her family.
She first recounted the process and outcome of her communication with Cao Dai that morning, and then described being followed by a car until the other party was attacked by suspected mercenaries.
After a brief conversation, Vu Linh Huong hung up the phone and turned to Li Qinghe with a smile: "Qinghe, the situation was so dangerous just now, why didn't you wake me up?"
Li Qinghe, slightly calming down from the tension of arranging a killing for the first time, pulled Vu Linh Huong into his arms.
"What's there to be afraid of? Chuntao's gun was out. Anyway, whatever happens, I'll just carry you and run."
Li Qinghe's word "carry" made Vu Linh Huong think of something, and a rare blush appeared on her face.
She playfully slapped Li Qinghe's back, "I know you're strong, no need to show off."
