46: A turnaround in exchange for 30 million
Facing Nguyen Thi Linh, who was silently weeping, Li Qinghe just held her tightly, letting her feel the warmth of being embraced with his body temperature and strong arms.
After crying for a while, Nguyen Thi Linh slowly stopped, but she still clung tightly to Li Qinghe's waist, unwilling to let go.
Li Qinghe gently stroked her smooth back, feeling her slowly calm down.
"Brother, actually, my admission letter has always been in my suitcase," Nguyen Thi Linh told Li Qinghe, her eyes red, that the admission letter did not need to be sent from home.
It turned out that after Nguyen Thi Linh saw no hope of studying, she chose to follow her neighbor, A Ling, to Hanoi to work, hoping to be closer to the university she had been admitted to.
She carried her admission letter with her, thinking that even if she couldn't attend university, she would keep this admission letter as a memento of having once been admitted.
Because Li Qinghe's clothes were soaked from her crying, Nguyen Thi Linh went downstairs to get him a change of clothes and also brought up her admission letter for Li Qinghe to see.
"Hanoi University, Department of Economics and Tourism Management, Tourism Management major."
Li Qinghe looked at Nguyen Thi Linh's treasured admission letter, surprised that this girl had been admitted to Hanoi University, a university primarily focused on language education, formerly known as Hanoi University of Foreign Studies.
The Tourism Management major was quite suitable for Nguyen Thi Linh's future development; after she graduated, Li Qinghe could easily open a travel agency or something similar for her.
More importantly, Li Qinghe felt a sense of accomplishment in helping Nguyen Thi Linh change her destiny.
While it was still early in the afternoon, Li Qinghe called the number on the admission letter to consult with the university in detail.
The university staff on the other end of the phone stated that applying for a delayed enrollment usually required submitting an application to the university two months in advance.
Now that it had been a month since the start of the semester, the situation was more difficult to handle.
However, the staff did not rule it out completely, only asking Nguyen Thi Linh to bring her admission letter to the university tomorrow to discuss it.
Nguyen Thi Linh sat obediently nearby, listening to Li Qinghe finish the call, her eyes full of gratitude.
"Brother, why are you so good to me?" Nguyen Thi Linh walked behind Li Qinghe and pressed herself tightly against his back.
"Because A Ling is my woman, making you happy will make me happy, won't it?"
Li Qinghe looked down at the head squeezed under his armpit and teased with a smile.
"Mm, I'll make Brother happy."
Nguyen Thi Linh looked around, seeing that the surroundings were blocked by dense vegetation, and there were no taller buildings nearby; she bit her lip, then turned and unfastened the long trousers of her Ao Dai.
The Ao Dai's design originally had slits up to the waist, and with her adjustment, it became an incredibly seductive outfit.
Her pure appearance combined with the alluring attire and actions instantly transformed Nguyen Thi Linh into a charming little enchantress.
This change in environment enveloped Li Qinghe in Nguyen Thi Linh's bursting passion, bringing him a completely different experience.
Unfortunately, Nguyen Thi Linh only had three moves, and after using them, she lay there like a fish fillet, allowing Li Qinghe to do as he pleased.
Finally, Nguyen Thi Linh completed her mission, shouting, "Brother, let me die!"
Dinner was made by Nguyen Thi Linh, who struggled to get up and do it; she stopped Li Qinghe from wanting to eat out.
At home, she had to fulfill her duty as a woman and feed her man well, though sometimes she really wished Two Rice Grains would appear.
Because they had to go to Hanoi University the next day, Li Qinghe just quietly held Nguyen Thi Linh and slept through the night, not wanting her to go out with two dark circles under her eyes.
The next morning, Li Qinghe and Nguyen Thi Linh were already in the admissions office of Hanoi University, filling out a very complicated form.
To leave a good impression on the teachers, Nguyen Thi Linh wore a fresh white shirt, cropped jeans, and white sneakers today, looking very innocent.
Nguyen Thi Linh in the university admissions office
"In your situation, it would have been absolutely impossible to let you come back to study before. Is going to school a joke? Come when you want, don't come when you don't want..."
A teacher from the admissions office named Teacher Su sternly criticized Nguyen Thi Linh, making the young girl's eyes a little red.
Li Qinghe felt a bit indignant and was about to step forward to retort a few words, thinking that they came to study, not to listen to him throw his weight around, and if he said two more words, they might as well not attend this university; finding another university might still be an option.
However, after Teacher Su said a few harsh words, he noticed a kraft paper bag under Nguyen Thi Linh's report; he opened it, took a look, and quickly glanced left and right.
His tone then changed.
"If it's due to family reasons, then you are lucky..."
After Li Qinghe woke up that morning, he exchanged today's quota of over 20,000 dragon country currency for 80 million vietnamese dong, then stuffed 30 million into a kraft paper bag, which amounted to 60 banknotes of 500,000 denomination.
Although Vietnam's economy is developing rapidly now, its foundation is weak, and corruption is very serious from the military to various units.
Just look at the bribery situation at Vietnam's border checkpoints; it's enough to know.
They are tirelessly happy to take even 10 dragon country currency.
The same goes for traffic police in Hanoi; for non-serious traffic violations that would normally cost around one million vietnamese dong, private settlements only require 200,000 to 300,000 vietnamese dong.
It was pretty much the same in universities.
For Teacher Su, as an ordinary university teacher in Vietnam, his monthly salary was only about 10 million vietnamese dong. Looking at the thickness of the banknotes in the kraft paper bag, it was at least two to three months of his salary.
He could no longer maintain his composure; in over ten years of work, he had never received so much extra income, and his attitude took a 180-degree turn.
Li Qinghe saw his attitude change dramatically and knew that the preparations he made before leaving home had paid off.
Originally, he had made two plans; besides this kraft paper bag, he also had another paper bag containing 50 million in his backpack, but it seemed it wouldn't be needed now.
Teacher Su quietly pushed the kraft paper bag into his desk drawer, then amiably explained the current situation to Nguyen Thi Linh.
Previously, missing the registration deadline like this would indeed not allow university registration, but now there had been a change.
It turned out that Vietnam was preparing to implement 15 years of compulsory education, providing free education from kindergarten to high school and investing a large amount of funds to support education.
Although compulsory education only extended to high school, influenced by this policy, many regulations and policies in Vietnamese universities also changed.
One of these changes was that for students like Nguyen Thi Linh, who missed the registration deadline due to family circumstances, as long as the university and local authorities verified it, she could continue her studies.
After explaining the new regulations to Nguyen Thi Linh and Li Qinghe, stimulated by that packet of cash, Teacher Su worked with unprecedented efficiency.
He first called the education department of Xiangyang Prefecture in Nghe An Province, then called the high school Nguyen Thi Linh attended.
At the same time, he also verified the relevant documents with the education and civil affairs departments in the town where Nguyen Thi Linh's family lived.
After nearly two hours of busy work, Teacher Su wiped the sweat from his forehead with satisfaction: "Student Nguyen, your situation has been verified, and we can now process your enrollment. I will help you complete the subsequent documents."
Teacher Su's words made Nguyen Thi Linh's eyes widen with surprise.
"Thank you, Teacher Su."
