201: Dragon Kingdom descendants in Saigon
He shook his head, put on his detection glasses, and a glowing white strip swayed above his head.
Li Qinghe walked over with a smile, stood beside her, and put a finger to his lips, hushing her.
The young woman, dressed in a T-shirt and denim shorts, looked at the tall Li Qinghe with curiosity.
Zhang Meiqi
Li Qinghe stood there, listening quietly for a while, then suddenly spoke in a woman's voice: "Husband, I want to buy a Dior lipstick."
A middle-aged man sitting on a mall bench beside them, scrolling on his phone, suddenly sat up straight: "Didn't we just buy two outfits? Why do you suddenly want to buy lipstick, and a Dior one at that?"
The wife next to the middle-aged man looked up at him in surprise: "What are you talking about? I never said I wanted to buy lipstick, that wasn't me."
The middle-aged man looked around in confusion and mumbled: "Oh, maybe I heard someone else say it and thought it was you."
The couple then lowered their heads and continued looking at their phones.
Li Qinghe's mouth suddenly emitted the middle-aged man's voice: "Wife, I've decided I'm going to buy an Hermes belt."
The middle-aged man's wife also suddenly looked up: "With your monthly income of thirty million vietnamese dong, you need to eat, buy gas, and give money to your elders, how can you afford an Hermes belt?"
"Huh? Who wants to buy an Hermes belt?" The middle-aged man looked up in a daze. He had been engrossed in his phone and hadn't paid attention, so he was surprised by his wife's sudden mention of Hermes.
The couple looked at each other suspiciously for a few moments, found nothing unusual, and finally concluded that they had both imagined it.
As the couple quieted down again, Li Qinghe no longer bothered them.
Turning his head, the young woman next to him had already covered her mouth with both hands, looking at Li Qinghe in astonishment.
"Brother-in-law, are you waiting for someone?"
Li Qinghe greeted her with a smile.
"Ge, your way of striking up a conversation is so unique." The young woman's voice was very pleasant and crisp.
But Li Qinghe detected a slight difference in her accent.
"Haha, you saw right through me." Li Qinghe admitted frankly. Being open about such things made it less likely to annoy the young woman.
"Ge, how did you do that just now?" The young woman's face was full of curiosity.
"That's called ventriloquism, it takes many years of training." Li Qinghe spoke casually.
"That must be very hard work then."
"It is, many training methods are very tough. My name is Li Qinghe, what's your name?"
Li Qinghe changed the subject and directly asked for her name.
"My name is Zhang Meiqi."
Upon hearing her name, Li Qinghe immediately asked her with a hint of surprise: "Are you Dragon Country People?"
Hearing Li Qinghe's question, the young woman looked around, then responded somewhat awkwardly: "I am Vietnamese, but my ancestors were all Dragon Country People. I can only be considered a Vietnamese ethnic minority now."
"Then can you speak Mandarin now?" Li Qinghe suddenly asked Zhang Meiqi in clear and standard Mandarin.
"I can speak a little. I had special extracurricular classes from elementary school to high school." Zhang Meiqi subconsciously responded in not-so-standard Mandarin.
"You speak very well. I am Dragon Country People, it's very nice to meet you."
Li Qinghe extended his hand to Zhang Meiqi.
Zhang Meiqi happily shook his hand: "Hearing your Vietnamese spoken so standardly, and with the surname Li, I thought you were Vietnamese. But Vietnamese people rarely grow as tall as you."
"The Ruan surname also originated from China, but your Zhang surname is a major surname in China..."
Li Qinghe stood there and chatted animatedly with Zhang Meiqi.
Through their conversation, he learned that this young woman was a senior in college, studying at Ho Chi Minh National University, which made her Pham Huyen My's senior.
Standing at 1.71 meters tall, she was waiting for a model agent here. Zhang Meiqi usually worked as a part-time model since her junior year to earn some pocket money.
The money she earned was enough for her daily expenses.
Li Qinghe asked about her ancestral home, which was Guangfu in Guangdong Province. Zhang Meiqi's branch came to Vietnam quite early, during the Qing Dynasty, when her great-great-grandfather had already arrived here.
Now, Zhang Meiqi's family has no very close blood relatives left in China, but if you count the family tree, there should still be quite a few.
Zhang Meiqi's family is settled in District 5 of Saigon, which has the most concentrated Dragon Country People descendant community in Saigon.
Li Qinghe's heart stirred: "Meiqi, I'm a video blogger. Can I follow you tomorrow and film your work process? I won't interfere with your work, I'll just film from a distance."
"Hmm, okay, I'll tell my agent."
Zhang Meiqi thought for a moment and then agreed.
The two stood there chatting and waiting. After about another 10 minutes, a fashionably dressed man walked over and confirmed his identity with Zhang Meiqi.
Zhang Meiqi's job for tomorrow was at 10 AM, to be a courtesy Miss for a newly opened clothing store, for a total of three hours.
Because Zhang Meiqi had a good image and experience in part-time work, her hourly wage was 300,000 vietnamese dong, which is approximately over 80 dragon country currency.
This meant that Zhang Meiqi could earn 900,000 vietnamese dong, or over 240 dragon country currency, in one day tomorrow.
For Vietnam, this daily income was already considered relatively high.
Zhang Meiqi and the agent carefully verified the location of the store for the event tomorrow, the arrival time, and the changing room and requirements.
Zhang Meiqi invited the agent for a coffee, but the agent, citing a busy schedule, declined and left.
"Meiqi, do you usually get jobs like this?"
"Yes, usually I contact these agents on Facebook or Zalo. This agent today, I heard, has a good reputation in the part-time modeling circle, so I specifically came to meet him first."
Zhang Meiqi was probably happy because of the significant income she would receive tomorrow: "Brother Qinghe, let me treat you to coffee."
Li Qinghe looked at the time, it was already past 11 AM: "Meiqi, isn't your home in District 5? Take me to try the traditional food of District 5, it's my treat."
"How long has Brother Qinghe been in Vietnam?"
"It's been almost half a year since I came here."
"Haha, no wonder you want to eat Dragon Country People food. Do you want dim sum or stir-fried dishes?"
"Take me to eat stir-fried dishes. You should be more familiar with the area, find an old restaurant with good taste."
"No problem, there are a few century-old restaurants that were opened by people who returned to Vietnam after leaving."
Zhang Meiqi looked confident, clearly having great faith in the taste of those restaurants.
"Brother Qinghe, you don't have any dietary restrictions, do you?" Although Zhang Meiqi's family had been in Vietnam for several generations, the habits rooted in Dragon Country People people made her ask a question very common among Dragon Country People people.
"None, I'm not picky, and I'm impervious to all poisons." Li Qinghe said a truth in a joking tone.
He always felt that the immunity to all poisons ability given by the system was best suited for going to Yunnan Province. He could taste anything without worrying about the consequences.
As for going to India, that's indefinitely postponed. He'll see when he feels like it, to find a few high-caste Miss to have an in-depth discussion about life.
Li Qinghe followed Zhang Meiqi out of the Diamond Plaza. Although he didn't explore the 15-story mall inside.
However, based on his past experience, the dining options in malls usually only reached a passable level and wouldn't be too amazing, even Michelin-starred ones.
The main focus was on the ambiance.
As the two were leaving the mall, Zhang Meiqi took out a long hooded sun-protective jacket, put it on, and then put on a sun-protective mask, fully armed, and walked into the sunlight with Li Qinghe.
