157: The old couple's concerns

Seeing Vu Linh Huong, dressed fashionably and exuding an air of nobility, Luu Nguyet Nga and Le Truong Xuyen's breath hitched.

Status changes one's demeanor, and upbringing shapes one's physique. Some people naturally possess a certain aura. A noblewoman like Vu Linh Huong, from a privileged background, doesn't need anything else; just standing there, you can feel the confidence her family has given her.

And Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, standing by her side with an attitude that clearly indicated she was an attendant, further highlighted Vu Linh Huong's status.

"Uncle, Auntie, I am Vu Linh Huong. I apologize for intruding so abruptly."

When Vu Linh Huong saw Luu Nguyet Nga and her husband come out, she looked at Le Truong Xuyen's face, which was a spitting image of Li Qinghe's but much older, and immediately understood that these were Li Qinghe's parents.

She quickly stepped forward and bowed, greeting them very politely.

"Oh, little Wu, you're too polite. Please come in and rest. And this young lady is?"

"Auntie, she is my friend, Nguyen Thi Mai Huong. You can just call her Mai Huong."

"Auntie, please take me home quickly."

Vu Linh Huong affectionately stepped forward and took Luu Nguyet Nga's arm. This familiar gesture immediately made Luu Nguyet Nga feel very comfortable.

Originally, she had been worried that Vu Linh Huong might look down on her ordinary family, embarrassing Li Qinghe.

Vu Linh Huong's small gesture directly dispelled her concerns.

Luu Nguyet Nga happily led Vu Linh Huong into the house, not forgetting to instruct Le Truong Xuyen: "Old Li, you help Mai Huong with her things."

Then, under the envious gaze of the doorman, she led Vu Linh Huong into the residential complex.

Le Truong Xuyen quickly stepped forward, ready to help Nguyen Thi Mai Huong with her things, but Nguyen Thi Mai Huong twisted her body, not letting him take them, and refused in stiff Dragon Kingdom language: "My, I take."

Nguyen Thi Mai Huong had only learned a few basic phrases of conversation from Lingxiang, and she barely understood Dragon Kingdom language. However, she could tell from Le Truong Xuyen's actions that he intended to help her carry her things.

Nguyen Thi Mai Huong was very conscientious; these were Miss Lingxiang's gifts, and she had to carry them into the house herself.

"Eh~~ eh~~~"

Le Truong Xuyen could only chuckle awkwardly and stand by, leading the way: "This way, young lady."

Li Qinghe's home wasn't too big, 139 square meters, three bedrooms and two living rooms, on the second floor, with simple decorations.

The nearly 20-year-old decor was now quite outdated.

"Little Wu, the conditions at home are a bit simple, please bear with us."

At the door, Luu Nguyet Nga gave a heads-up.

When the door opened, Vu Linh Huong cheerfully said to Luu Nguyet Nga: "What a warm feeling, Auntie. I can almost feel Qinghe growing up here."

"That rascal never did anything good at home," Luu Nguyet Nga grumbled, then quickly ushered Vu Linh Huong inside: "Little Wu, come sit down. Auntie will peel an apple for you. This is a specialty honey tangerine from our Akalin Province, and this is a navel orange. You should try them all."

Just then, Le Truong Xuyen also brought Nguyen Thi Mai Huong back into the house.

Vu Linh Huong quickly greeted Nguyen Thi Mai Huong in Vietnamese: "Mai Huong, quickly bring the things over."

This sentence shattered Luu Nguyet Nga's initial illusion that Vu Linh Huong was a Dragon Kingdom girl, bringing her back to reality: this was a Vietnamese girl.

Vu Linh Huong took the items from Nguyen Thi Mai Huong's hands: "Uncle, the tobacco and alcohol from Vietnam are not as good as those from the Dragon Kingdom, so I didn't bring any from Vietnam. This Maotai and chunghwa cigarettes were bought at a duty-free shop in the capital, and they are all genuine."

"Oh, little Wu, you are too kind, bringing them all this way from so far."

Le Truong Xuyen was so happy he was a bit flustered. It was his first time being a father-in-law, and he had no experience.

"What little Wu gives you, you take it. What kind of behavior is this, being so hesitant."

Luu Nguyet Nga frowned and scolded him from the side.

Le Truong Xuyen shivered and quickly took the tobacco and alcohol into his hands: "Thanks to little Wu, I can also taste Maotai and chunghwa cigarettes."

"It's only right to show respect to you."

Vu Linh Huong smiled and took out a few more boxes: "Auntie, these are first-period bird's nests from the rainy season that I specifically brought back for you from Vietnam. Eating them will beautify your skin and make it good."

She didn't know the effects of the few drops of liquid Li Qinghe had given her once; she simply prepared a gift for Luu Nguyet Nga based on her own ideas.

Now it was Luu Nguyet Nga's turn to smile so wide her mouth wouldn't close: "I'm an old woman already, what's the point of beauty and skin care? Little Wu, keep it for yourself. It would be a waste for me to eat it."

"Auntie, it's never too late to start taking care of yourself. You eat first, and if you feel good, I'll send more to you from Vietnam."

"No need, no need, it's too much trouble."

"Auntie, I am Qinghe's girlfriend. Just think of it as your future daughter-in-law showing her filial piety to you. Just eat it with peace of mind."

Well, as soon as she said that, Luu Nguyet Nga was increasingly satisfied, feeling that Vu Linh Huong was the top choice for a daughter-in-law, and she couldn't even utter a word of refusal.

"Come, everyone, eat navel oranges."

Le Truong Xuyen, on the side, had already happily put away the two bottles of Maotai and six packs of chunghwa cigarettes. Now, he deftly cut several navel oranges, carefully removed the peels, and served them with toothpicks.

"Thank you, Uncle."

Vu Linh Huong politely picked up a piece of navel orange and elegantly put it into her mouth.

"Hmm, so sweet, it's really delicious."

Vu Linh Huong's praise made Le Truong Xuyen beam with smiles: "Eat more fruit. This young lady, come and eat too."

Le Truong Xuyen called out to Nguyen Thi Mai Huong.

"Thank you."

Nguyen Thi Mai Huong still spoke in very stiff Dragon Kingdom language, but the smile on her face nicely softened the stiffness.

After a few simple pleasantries, Luu Nguyet Nga quickly asked Vu Linh Huong: "Can little Wu eat spicy food?"

"A little bit spicy. Qinghe told me that the 'mildly spicy' in Akalin Province is 'super spicy' in Vietnam."

"Then I'll be careful and put less chili. Little Wu, you and this young lady sit and eat fruit. Your uncle and I will go cook. My cooking isn't great, so I'll just make some home-style dishes."

"Auntie, let me help."

"No, no, don't get your clothes dirty..."

Although Vu Linh Huong ultimately couldn't help in the kitchen, she once again scored well in terms of impression.

"Auntie, can I go into Qinghe's room to take a look?"

"You go. Let your uncle open the door for you."

Facing Vu Linh Huong's request, Luu Nguyet Nga readily agreed. At this point, if Vu Linh Huong asked her to call Li Qinghe back, she would probably make the call without hesitation.

Vu Linh Huong entered Li Qinghe's room with anticipation. Because it was regularly cleaned, the room appeared very neat and tidy.

Immediately, she could see posters of Kobe and LeBron on the wall, below which was a single bed, a desk, and a large bookshelf.

On the bookshelf were two basketballs, next to the desk was a pair of dumbbells, and above them were two photo frames: one of Li Qinghe laughing broadly at the camera when he was seven or eight, and another of him posing coolly for the camera when he was seventeen or eighteen.

This was the place where Li Qinghe grew up, giving Vu Linh Huong a strange feeling, as if she was standing at the doorway watching Li Qinghe grow from a young boy into a vibrant young man.

In the kitchen, Luu Nguyet Nga was happily chopping vegetables, while Le Truong Xuyen squatted on the floor, butchering a duck.

"Old Li, what do you think of this girl, little Wu?"

Luu Nguyet Nga quietly chatted with Le Truong Xuyen.

"She's polite, neither humble nor arrogant. She's a good girl."

"I just don't know if she's the type who's never done housework. If she marries Maomao, will they live in the Dragon Kingdom or Vietnam?"

Luu Nguyet Nga was a little worried.

"Look at this girl, Mai Huong. She's clearly little Wu's bodyguard. With a family like that, do you still expect her to work in the kitchen?"

Le Truong Xuyen's words hit the nail on the head.

Although the old couple were extremely satisfied with Vu Linh Huong, they began to worry about what would happen after the two got married. They didn't want Li Qinghe to stay in Vietnam like a live-in son-in-law.

While Vu Linh Huong was visiting Li Qinghe's home, Li Qinghe was already riding his motorcycle, carrying Le Xuan Mai, speeding towards Hoi An.
