85: Xiaoshui who is anxious to go out

Early the next morning, Nguyen Thi Thuy, fully recovered, was surprised to find herself sleeping in her mother's bed, with her pajamas already changed.

The ample sleep and the tonic effects of the medicinal wine made her feel full of energy today. She quickly got up and searched around the house.

"Mom, where's Brother-in-law?"

The tall, long-legged girl leaned against the kitchen doorway, rubbing her face like a kitten washing its face.

Tran Thi Bao Anh, busy making breakfast, dotingly looked at her youngest daughter, but her words were a scolding: "Look at you, such a big girl and still sleeping in. Your Brother-in-law and your sister went out."

Nguyen Thi Thuy giggled, turned, and ran: "I'm going to find them! Brother-in-law said he'd take my brother and me to buy a motorcycle today."

Nguyen Tan Minh also walked out of his room, holding a book: "What's the hurry? It's still early. Don't go bother Sister and Brother-in-law. Read a book at home first."

Nguyen Tan Minh knew very well that the wealthy Brother-in-law was willing to help the family so much primarily because he liked his sister.

So, he hoped his sister's and Brother-in-law's relationship would get better and better.

Although relying on Brother-in-law to escape their current life felt a bit dishonorable, most families in Vietnam did this. The key was to have a rich or capable Brother-in-law or sister's husband to rely on.

Nguyen Tan Minh had endured more than ten years of hardship, and with hope now at hand, he would never allow anyone to destroy it.

Seeing his sister thoughtlessly running off to disturb Sister and Brother-in-law's private time, he had to stop her.

Looking at her brother sternly stopping her from going out to find Sister and Brother-in-law.

Nguyen Thi Thuy pouted unhappily and went to her room to find clothes to change into. She just wanted to make sure Brother-in-law hadn't secretly run off.

That smelly A-Ming, she didn't want to talk to him today.

By the time Li Qinghe and Nguyen Thi Linh returned from the fields, Nguyen Thi Thuy had already found a beautiful little dress to wear and was happily walking around the house.

She wanted to dress up beautifully to go out.

Li Qinghe, who had returned, watched the pretty girl sitting on a chair in the house, muttering something.

She turned her head and saw him return, her joy overflowing, looking like she was about to pounce, but stopped in her tracks under Nguyen Tan Minh's stern gaze.

The girls in Vietnam indeed do an excellent job with sun protection, maintaining fair skin through strict prevention. Nguyen Thi Linh was like this, and Nguyen Thi Thuy was also like this.

Coupled with their family's inherited tall figures and high Appearance, they were a striking presence wherever they went.

"Oh, Xiao Shui is already eager to go to the street to show off her beautiful clothes."

Nguyen Thi Linh saw the pretty dress Nguyen Thi Thuy was wearing and couldn't help but tease her.

"The dress Sister bought is really beautiful!" Nguyen Thi Thuy stood up proudly.

With such direct praise from Nguyen Thi Thuy, Nguyen Thi Linh found it hard to say anything more.

Tran Thi Bao Anh, standing by, also praised Nguyen Thi Thuy with a smile: "Oh, my Xiao Shui looks like a city girl now."

"Mom, when you dress up, you look like a city person too!" Perhaps because she was in a good mood, Nguyen Thi Thuy's little mouth was very sweet today.

Today was the Mid-Autumn Festival. Originally, today would have been a good day for business, but to host Li Qinghe well, Tran Thi Bao Anh temporarily closed her stall and took a day off.

She wanted to stay home and cook delicious food for Li Qinghe all day.

So, early in the morning, she went out and bought a lot of groceries. While shopping, she found herself enjoying a kind of treatment she had never experienced before.

Every vegetable stall and shop owner was kind and friendly to her, and everyone praised her for finding a good son-in-law.

They also asked where her son-in-law was from and if he had any brothers.

The praise from everyone gave Tran Thi Bao Anh a feeling of being caressed by a spring breeze.

But she also clearly knew that everyone was just impressed by the car Li Qinghe drove, assuming he was a wealthy boss.

So, Tran Thi Bao Anh smiled all the way, dealing with everyone, but she didn't reveal any information about Li Qinghe.

She had long had enough of the cold and warmth of human relationships around her. How could she tell them detailed information about her own son-in-law?

Today's breakfast was eel porridge, served with spring rolls.

The eel porridge Tran Thi Bao Anh made was different from the usual thick porridge; it was relatively thinner overall.

But when mixed with eel meat and eaten with a spring roll on the side, the taste seemed to be quite unique.

Li Qinghe drank two large bowls of porridge and ate a plate of spring rolls.

Nguyen Tan Minh was not to be outdone, finishing a bowl of porridge and a plate of spring rolls.

The Ruan sisters ate much less. Each drank a bowl of porridge and ate two spring rolls.

Tran Thi Bao Anh saw Li Qinghe eating with great relish, and the stone in her heart finally dropped.

She had been worried that Li Qinghe wouldn't be used to her cooking. From last night to this morning, she watched Li Qinghe eat, and he showed no signs of dislike or reluctance, which made her very happy.

"Auntie Bao Anh, why don't you also go to Xiangyang County to take a look, and then go explore the town? We can have lunch out."

After breakfast, Li Qinghe invited Tran Thi Bao Anh, who was clearing the dishes.

"You young people go have fun. Auntie needs to stay home and cook."

"Yes, Mom, Brother-in-law is right. It's been a long time since you've been to a temple fair."

Nguyen Thi Thuy ran over, shaking her mother's arm and pouting playfully.

She was in an excellent mood because after this temple fair, she and her brother would be motorcycle owners.

Tomorrow morning, she and her brother could ride their motorcycles to school and no longer have to hitch rides with others.

"Be good, just go have fun with Brother-in-law. Don't be too naughty; you're not a child anymore."

Tran Thi Bao Anh carefully instructed Nguyen Thi Thuy.

It turned out that the Mid-Autumn Festival in Xiangyang County was also a relatively traditional holiday.

People from surrounding villages and towns would gather in a larger town to hold a temple fair.

This temple fair was held in rotation. When one township held the fair, people from several surrounding townships would come to participate in activities, watch performances, and shop.

The influx of people made the temple fair very lively.

According to an excited Nguyen Thi Thuy, the Mid-Autumn Festival in Vietnam is actually also called Vietnam Children's Day, with lantern parades in the evening, which is when children are happy and play with lanterns.

This time, the temple fair was held in a large town next door.

It would take about 10 minutes to drive there.

Tran Thi Bao Anh then brought up the embarrassing story of Nguyen Thi Thuy as a child, when her lantern broke and she insisted on exchanging it with her sister's.

Nguyen Thi Linh and Nguyen Tan Minh also added details.

This made Nguyen Thi Thuy very embarrassed.

Early in the morning, the family sat at home, chatting and laughing; it was quite lively.

Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival for the first time in a foreign land, in such a family, Li Qinghe didn't feel lonely at all.

"Mom, what delicious things are you making today?" Nguyen Thi Linh asked Tran Thi Bao Anh with a smile.

"Today, I'll make brown sugar cake and multi-grain zongzi. You brought back quite a few mooncakes, so we don't need to buy any this year."

"How do you make brown sugar cake?"

Li Qinghe asked with some curiosity. He knew what multi-grain zongzi was just by hearing it.

He had never actually eaten this brown sugar cake.

"It's mainly made by kneading glutinous rice flour, then adding brown sugar and coconut milk. It's steamed in a steamer. When you all come back from the neighboring town, it'll be just right to eat."

Hearing Tran Thi Bao Anh mention a steamer, Li Qinghe roughly understood what it was. It should be similar to Malaysia's Ma Lai Gao.

Except Vietnam's version adds some coconut milk.

The family chatted briefly for a few more moments, then Nguyen Thi Thuy urged Nguyen Thi Linh and Nguyen Tan Minh to change their clothes.

She was already eager to go out.
