167: Hoi An’s souvenirs are unique

Li Qinghe propped his bicycle with one foot and put his phone into his pants pocket: "Does A Mei have some misunderstanding about me?"

"Ah? I don't misunderstand you."

"I mean, regarding the issue of whether a girlfriend can tolerate others, that kind of problem won't arise with me."

"Brother He, you're so amazing..."

Ending this topic, Li Qinghe took Le Xuan Mai and wandered around the ancient town for two more rounds, then went to the Ao Dai shop to pick up the two custom-made Ao Dais.

Le Xuan Mai tried them on in the shop. The Ao Dai's size was perfectly tailored, fitting her body very well and presenting a completely different charm. She instantly transformed from a spicy girl into a gentle woman from a water town.

Le Xuan Mai

It's evident that external attire has a significant impact on a person's demeanor.

After trying on the clothes, Le Xuan Mai quickly changed back into her own small dress.

"Brother He, although the Ao Dai looks good on, it's too stuffy to wear in this weather."

She turned and came out of the changing room, hugging Li Qinghe's arm. Ever since Li Qinghe mentioned he was preparing to return to Hanoi, Le Xuan Mai felt a bit lost.

She felt that Li Qinghe was drifting away, leaving Le Xuan Mai, who had been enjoying herself so much these past two days, feeling empty. Having grown accustomed to stuffing her mouth and chewing heartily, it would be difficult for her to accept going back to savoring small bites and chewing slowly.

Li Qinghe didn't pay too much attention to Le Xuan Mai's psychological changes; that was something she needed to adjust to herself.

If he were to satisfy every idea of someone wanting to cling to him, then Li Qinghe wouldn't be able to go anywhere.

Having come to Hoi An, he should at least bring some souvenirs back, especially since money wasn't an issue.

Li Qinghe took Le Xuan Mai and walked around the streets, only entering shops that caught his eye.

At a handmade lantern shop, he bought many beautiful lanterns for both Le Xuan Mai and himself. These were meant as souvenirs to take back to Da Nang and Hanoi, each costing 300,000 vietnamese dong, which is over 80 dragon country currency.

Hoi An's lanterns are designed to be collapsible, making them easy to carry.

For Hanoi, they would be sent directly from the shop via express delivery. Here, arrangements could be made for air freight to Da Nang Airport.

When Li Qinghe returned to Hanoi, he could just pick up the goods directly at Noi Bai Airport.

He then went to an agarwood shop and bought some agarwood, whose authenticity he wasn't sure of, including agarwood bead bracelets and agarwood powder.

Sitting in the agarwood shop, he also listened to the owner give a lecture on agarwood knowledge.

In the past, Vietnamese agarwood was an important tribute used to pay homage to the Chinese.

Among Southeast Asian countries, Vietnamese agarwood still holds a unique position. Compared to the agarwood from neighboring Laos, its scent is not as strong.

Especially agarwood from the Hoi An and Hue areas, it often carries a hint of medicinal fragrance, a sweet note within a medicinal scent. Hoi An agarwood, in particular, is characterized by a refined, medicinal fragrance.

Under the owner's guidance, Li Qinghe wiped different agarwood bead bracelets with a tissue, noticing only faint traces on the tissue.

According to the owner, genuine agarwood leaves only faint traces on a tissue after wiping, while fake agarwood turns the tissue black immediately upon wiping.

In the agarwood shop, agarwood prices are calculated by the gram. The cheapest coil incense or stick incense costs 9,300 vietnamese dong per gram, which is about 3 dragon country currency.

More expensive bamboo stick incense costs 500,000 vietnamese dong per gram, nearly 140 dragon country currency.

Collector-grade agarwood, such as bead bracelets and ornaments, can cost as much as 1,000,000 vietnamese dong per gram, nearly 300 dragon country currency.

Seeing that Li Qinghe seemed very interested in this knowledge, the shop owner became very talkative and proudly took out a box of bead bracelets from the safe in the shop.

"The most expensive type of agarwood is Ky Nam. This one I have is wild yellow Ky Nam, valued at 146 million per gram."

"Then this can be considered your store's treasure."

Li Qinghe was also shocked by this price. At 40,000 dragon country currency per gram, it was not something ordinary people could afford.

After the owner proudly shared the difference between sinking-grade and non-sinking-grade agarwood,

Li Qinghe bought several sinking-grade bead bracelets, costing 1,500,000 vietnamese dong per gram. Each bracelet had 18 beads and weighed 18 grams.

Each bracelet averaged 27,000,000 vietnamese dong, which is over 7,000 dragon country currency.

Li Qinghe bought 20 bracelets in one go, spending nearly 600,000,000 vietnamese dong.

Le Xuan Mai, standing by, was a bit stunned; Li Qinghe's way of spending money was somewhat shocking to her.

Originally, Le Xuan Mai had already been a bit speechless by Li Qinghe spending several million vietnamese dong daily these past few days. She liked Li Qinghe as a person because he could easily touch her soul.

But following Li Qinghe to Hoi An for these two days, she felt it was the most correct thing she had done in 20 years.

She had never experienced a life where she didn't have to calculate expenses when spending money. This trip to Hoi An allowed her to experience it.

Food, drinks, entertainment—whatever caught her eye, she could easily afford.

Le Xuan Mai felt that if she continued to spend a few more days with Li Qinghe like this, she didn't know if she would be able to adapt to her previous life.

Spending two or three days in Hoi An allowed Li Qinghe to savor a different kind of joy, with Le Xuan Mai accompanying him throughout, and the interlude with the Korean woman leaving him wanting more.

Indeed, one must go out to encounter different things and people.

Li Qinghe casually slipped an agarwood bead bracelet onto Le Xuan Mai's hand.

"Brother He, is this for me?" Le Xuan Mai was both surprised and delighted. She hadn't expected to receive one of these agarwood bead bracelets herself.

"I am a very fair person. Everyone I acknowledge will have a share."

"Thank you, Brother He. Do you like university students from Da Nang?" Le Xuan Mai suddenly hugged Li Qinghe's arm tightly and asked seductively in his ear.

"Haha, thank you, A Mei. I'm happy you have that awareness, but I don't have any plans for now."

"Brother He, you're so strong, you can do it."

"Alright, let's ride back to Da Nang."

Li Qinghe decisively cut off the topic. Expanding his circle passively was not what he wanted; men, by nature, always prefer to be proactive.

The two carried their purchases to where they had parked the motorcycle earlier and hung their luggage on the footboard.

They first rode to refuel, ensuring they could smoothly ride back to Da Nang.

In Vietnam, renting a motorcycle means borrowing it with an empty tank and returning it with an empty tank; don't expect to get any discount.

As the motorcycle sped along, Li Qinghe first went to the Pullman Hotel near My Khe Beach to check out. He hadn't stayed there for several days and wouldn't be staying there tonight, so there was no need to waste money.

Before it got dark, the motorcycle had already entered Da Nang city. As they passed the Dragon Bridge, Le Xuan Mai suddenly exclaimed, "Brother He, today is Saturday! The dragon's head will breathe fire tonight."

The Dragon Bridge's fire-breathing show at 9 PM on weekend evenings has always been a major attraction in Da Nang city.

It's a show that both locals and tourists enjoy.

Le Xuan Mai hugged Li Qinghe's waist tightly, loudly telling him in his ear that the Dragon Bridge not only breathes fire but sometimes also sprays water.

She decided that she must accompany Li Qinghe to enjoy this wonderful show tonight.

Seeing the same scenery with different people gives a completely different feeling.

Li Qinghe didn't refuse and rode the motorcycle directly towards Da Nang University. Along the way, when passing near Duy Tan University, Le Xuan Mai just said, "A Quynh seems to be studying here."

Li Qinghe's motorcycle then stopped by the roadside, and in front of the bike, preparing to cross the road, was Chen Yuyingqiong.

Chen Yuyingqiong
