322: Go to Clarke Quay
“Qinghe, don’t mind her, we are friends.”
Susan slowly stepped forward: “You are more handsome than most Singaporeans; you’ve changed my impression of Dragon Country People people.”
“Look, is Lilia coming out?”
Susan turned to look in the direction Li Qinghe pointed, but saw nothing.
When she turned back, Li Qinghe had already vanished.
In that moment, Li Qinghe quickly put on his passerby glasses, disappearing smoothly from Susan’s sight.
“Qinghe is truly an interesting man.”
Susan ignored a few passersby in her peripheral vision and slowly sat on a bench by the roadside.
“Lilia should be here soon. Qinghe couldn’t handle my enthusiasm; I hope I didn’t scare him.”
Susan opened the book in her hand and patiently sat on the bench, reading. The recent incident seemed to have no effect on her.
Every now and then, she would look up and glance around. If a handsome man passed by, she would greet him sweetly.
Li Qinghe, observing Susan’s state from nearby, couldn’t help but admire her.
It seemed Susan didn’t just act like spring had arrived only when she saw him; she did this for any handsome man.
Li Qinghe remembered Lilia saying that her roommate was tirelessly pursuing rich boyfriends.
From what he had observed, it was most likely Susan.
Li Qinghe wasn't disgusted by this behavior, but he couldn't accept a woman with that kind of appearance acting this way towards him.
Since Susan wasn't just like this with him, then keeping a bit of distance later would be fine.
After waiting for more than 20 minutes, Lilia and Nina also finished class and came out.
Being very familiar with the school, they quickly found the meeting spot.
However, only seeing Susan sitting alone on the bench made both Lilia and Nina feel a bit strange.
Lilia, with a shoulder bag, gracefully walked up to Susan: “Susan, why are you here alone? Where did Qinghe go?”
“Oh, Lilia, I think it might be because I was too enthusiastic and scared him away. He’s truly an interesting Dragon Country People man.”
Susan looked up and nonchalantly described what had just happened, as if she had merely been an observer.
Nina looked at Susan’s unconcerned expression and slapped her forehead: “Oh, my goodness, Susan, you’re showcasing your dreaded charm again.”
“That’s my unique charm. Why shouldn’t I show it to someone I find pleasing to the eye?” Susan closed her book, stood up, and raised an eyebrow.
Nina looked on the verge of collapse, clutching her forehead: “Oh, dear Susan, if you keep this up, you’ll hurt Lilia. That’s her boyfriend.”
“If Qinghe, after having such a beautiful girl as Lilia, can still be moved by my charm, it means he doesn't like Lilia that much. But it seems Qinghe is a bit scared of me.”
Susan continued with her own theory of charm.
Lilia also shook her head helplessly: “As long as you’re happy.”
She didn't believe Susan could steal Li Qinghe away from her.
Because when Li Qinghe was teaching her about Dragon Country People history, he had personally said he liked fair-skinned girls.
But where had Li Qinghe been scared off to by Susan now?
She took out her phone, ready to call Li Qinghe, when her shoulder was patted.
“Oh, dear, I was just wondering where you were!” Lilia turned to see Li Qinghe smiling and standing beside her.
“Qinghe, where did Susan scare you off to?” Nina also teased the suddenly appearing Li Qinghe with a smile.
“I just went to look at the scenery nearby.”
Li Qinghe didn't overly emphasize Susan's enthusiasm, responding to Lilia and Nina's questions with a simple sentence.
Because after observing for a while from the side, he realized that Susan’s thought process was different from that of Dragon Country People people.
Since that was the case, there was no need to dwell on her too much; just maintain distance.
“Lilia, do you have any good places to recommend for dinner tonight? I’ll treat you all.”
Li Qinghe reached out and put his arm around Lilia’s slender waist.
“Yesterday we went to Little India. Let’s go to Clarke Quay today, dear. It’s best if you don’t drive today.”
Lilia turned to Li Qinghe beside her and offered a suggestion.
“Lilia, I love you! Is Qinghe going to take us for drinks?” Susan on the side still smiled brightly.
“Qinghe, if we’re going to Clarke Quay for drinks, it’s really not advisable to drive,” Nina also sincerely advised.
Seeing that everyone agreed to go to Clarke Quay, Li Qinghe signaled for everyone to head to the parking space.
“I’ll park the car downstairs at your apartment first, and then we’ll take a taxi or the subway to Clarke Quay.”
Li Qinghe first drove the car to the apartment building where Lilia and her friends lived.
Lilia and her two friends put their backpacks and books into the apartment.
Li Qinghe then looked for a parking spot downstairs. When Li Qinghe went upstairs, Lilia and her friends were lining up to wash their faces.
This made Li Qinghe realize that Singaporean girls truly didn't fuss much about their appearance.
The group stayed upstairs for more than half an hour, and when they came downstairs, the three girls showed no intention of changing their clothes.
They came down exactly as they went up, with no thought of changing clothes or dressing up after returning.
This level of confidence and relaxed attitude was quite commendable.
Since it was still a bit of a distance from the subway station, Li Qinghe directly hailed a Grab car.
Perhaps knowing that Li Qinghe was reluctant to get too close to her,
Susan directly sat in the front passenger seat.
Li Qinghe and the others sat in the back, with Lilia in the middle.
More than 20 minutes later, Clarke Quay was in sight.
As a very famous waterfront commercial area in Singapore,
Clarke Quay was originally a cargo wharf on the Singapore River.
It was later acquired by a real estate company and underwent a complete renovation.
It retained five 19th-century warehouse buildings, forming a comprehensive complex integrating dining, shopping, and entertainment.
The area also gathered various leisure businesses such as restaurants, entertainment venues, and bars.
One could even take a river cruise from Clarke Quay directly to Singapore’s largest Ferris wheel.
Since they were here, Li Qinghe took Lilia and her two friends to try an old-established seafood restaurant here.
This was a seafood restaurant with a traditional Dragon Country People style.
Li Qinghe walking in with three girls of distinct appearances certainly attracted a lot of attention.
The fairest Lilia and the darkest Susan both had Indian features, while only Nina most resembled a Dragon Country People person.
Yet, among the four, only Lilia held Li Qinghe’s arm.
When Li Qinghe and his companions arrived at the restaurant, it was exactly dinner time, and the entire hall was bustling with people.
The vast majority were yellow-skinned Dragon Country People descendants.
Therefore, Li Qinghe, accompanied by the 'black and white' Indian-faced beauties, also received a good deal of attention.
In fact, in Singapore, unions between Dragon Country People and Indian descendants are not very common.
And usually, it's an Indian man with a Dragon Country People woman.
It’s rare to see a Dragon Country People man with an Indian woman.
From this, it was clear that Lilia’s father was quite impressive.
Li Qinghe and his group waited for a while before a table of customers finished their meal and the table was turned over.
“Do all three of you eat chili crab?”
Li Qinghe picked up the menu and asked Lilia and the others.
“Dear, just order. Chili crab is Singapore’s national dish; we all eat it.” Lilia placed her hand on Li Qinghe’s hand.
