311: Fatty's recommended cheese bubble tea

When Li Qinghe and Lilia arrived, there was nobody in the church, and the entire space was very empty.

Because the space was so open, although there were no fans on, the air circulated very well, making the whole church feel cool.

Li Qinghe and Lilia walked around inside for a bit before coming out, preparing to explore other streets.

With Lilia's explanation, Qinghe learned that the most worthwhile streets to visit in Kampong Glam were Arab Street and Haji Lane.

Lilia, familiar with the area, was like an excellent local guide, meticulously telling Qinghe about the different shops and changes in atmosphere on each street.

After the two of them clarified their feelings, they didn't rush straight to a hotel for a big meal like other young couples.

Because Lilia herself hadn't experienced these things, she was still a bit nervous. She wanted to deepen their relationship and overcome her shyness through a longer period of time together.

Qinghe, on the other hand, was an 'old hand' and thoroughly enjoyed the preparations before indulging in a delicious meal.

Savoring the ingredients as they changed over time was also one of the pleasures.

Gradual progression and slow simmering made it easier to bring out good flavors.

He wanted to give Lilia a new culinary experience she had never felt before; she might get full, but he would definitely not let her choke.

So, their different mindsets allowed them to leisurely wander around the Kampong Glam scenic area.

The main buildings on Arab Street were mostly Nanyang-style shophouses, making it seem like a very ordinary street at first glance.

Come out to eat.

However, the proportion of men and women wearing scarves on this street was significantly higher than in other places.

Along this street were various handicraft shops, numerous clothing stores with Middle Eastern flair, Persian rug shops, and Turkish lamp stores.

The shops here were much more exquisite and numerous than those near the Sultan Mosque.

But Lilia and Qinghe only strolled through them, and the passersby at most looked at this somewhat unusual-looking young couple with slight surprise, taking them for an interracial couple who had overcome obstacles.

Some Westerners even shouted "Bless you!" as they passed by the two.

This made the usually generous Lilia a little shy, while Qinghe openly cupped his hands and responded to these customers with a "Thank you for your blessings."

In fact, only idle Westerners in this world would have such a 'saintly' heart to care whether two young people of different races had to overcome obstacles to be together.

Of course, sending blessings is not a problem.

The problem is that many Westerners often carry a subtle sense of superiority when they visit other parts of the world.

It's like they have a feeling of "my ancestors were once great."

This is where the mixed reputation of Westerners abroad comes from.

The good ones are very good, but some are condescending and critical, and some even explicitly look for trouble with the intention to criticize.

As for Lilia, she got used to being blessed after a few times.

She began to openly follow Qinghe, exploring Arab Street from end to end, then turning to Haji Lane.

This old pre-war street has been transformed into a famous cultural and creative street in the Arab Quarter.

The entire street features architectural styles from the British colonial period.

What is most widely known here are Haji Lane's colorful houses and the vibrant graffiti on its walls.

"Compared to the crowded Universal Studios and Orchard Road, I still prefer places like Haji Lane, where the crowd isn't as dense."

Lilia held onto a corner of Qinghe's clothes; this was the intimate way they found to be together after multiple attempts at holding hands were defeated by the hot weather and sweaty palms.

The entire Haji Lane is only about 300 meters long, but it has numerous artistic shops, various bars, restaurants, and snack stalls along the street.

Many tourists take photos here with the vibrant graffiti-covered walls; this represents the free spirit of young people.

Young men and women will find it very interesting here, but if you're coming with family, Haji Lane might not be the most suitable choice.

Since it's a photo-op spot, Qinghe naturally took many beautiful pictures of Lilia.

Under his superb photography skills, Lilia felt that all the times she had visited Haji Lane before had been in vain.

Among the many food stalls in Haji Lane, a rich aroma of cheese and cream permeated the alley.

They walked past a particularly famous coffee shop online.

This shop sold a special rainbow cake.

It was essentially a colorful sandwich cake.

Countless people were crazy about this beautiful cake, but Qinghe didn't feel much about it.

Thinking about those bland Western meals, Qinghe felt he could understand how impactful such brightly colored food was to them.

For Qinghe, this kind of cake had a decent visual effect for taking photos.

Qinghe originally planned to buy a slice for Lilia, but she smiled brightly and said, "This kind of cake is good to look at, but it's really nothing special to eat."

She clearly was someone who had experienced it before.

"Qinghe, I originally planned to find you a less sweet teh tarik shop, but we just drove past it, and there's no good parking on the roadside there. This bubble tea shop here is very good..."

Under Lilia's introduction, Qinghe learned that this small shop was famous for its rich, creamy cheese foam tea.

Even more famous was that its cheese foam tea was particularly loved by a certain chubby man named Zhou.

Yes, the one who's quite chubby and sings pretty awesome songs.

Since Lilia recommended it so earnestly, and out of respect for the chubby man, Qinghe decided to go in with her and try it.

Because even Lilia could sing a few lines of "The sparrows outside the window are hard to catch on the telephone pole."

It proved that the chubby man's charm was quite considerable.

The entire shop had a very artistic and fresh vibe.

Many young girls were taking photos here.

Lilia chose a signature cheese strawberry fresh milk, for 8 singapore dollars.

Qinghe, on the other hand, picked a cheese black tea latte, for 7.5 singapore dollars.

Again, Lilia eagerly paid the bill.

This girl's persistence was a bit cute.

Soon, their foam teas were ready, and before drinking, they certainly looked good.

Qinghe ordered his with light sweetness, and one sip revealed a genuinely good taste; the milk flavor was very rich, and this time it wasn't overly sweet.

Lilia watched Qinghe drink with a smile on her face, and she also smiled happily.

She was actually quite worried that Qinghe wouldn't be satisfied with any milk tea here, which would mean she'd have to rack her brains.

The two stopped and walked, taking photos in Haji Lane, and over an hour passed quickly.

Indeed, time flies when a couple is together.

In Haji Lane, Qinghe discovered something that had disappeared in China: photo booth machines.

On both sides of Haji Lane, they were decorated to look like space capsules or airplane cabins.

Many girls or young couples were posing with various expressions for photos inside.

"Qinghe, can you come take some pictures with me?"

Lilia was sometimes adorably straightforward, of course, only because she was pretty. If someone not pretty said the same thing, it would be terrifying.

Seeing Lilia's expectant eyes, Qinghe naturally chose to fulfill her wish.

"Lilia, if you like taking photos so much, the Ritz-Carlton seems to have a very nice view tonight; I can take more pictures for you there."

Qinghe's words had an underlying meaning.

Lilia didn't answer but nodded vigorously.
