1: Reincarnation Energy

Something fell from the sky into the zebra enclosure at the zoo. It was nighttime, and most of the staff had already left the zoo.

Ning Ruogong was the only one, besides the elder, who decided to stay overnight to take care of the zoo animals. Coincidentally, he heard a small thud as he approached the enclosure.

"Hey, Ning, can you go check what that was?" the elder said from a little further away.

"Okay." Ning unlocked the cage and slowly walked in, hoping the zebras were already asleep. Unfortunately, they were not.

He looked towards the middle of the snowdrift and found something had fallen from the sky, creating a small crater.

"Did an airplane drop a part?" he wondered. He moved a little closer and found that the object in the center of the crater was a black cube, very smooth on its surface, reflecting a lot of light.

"What is that?" He walked closer out of curiosity. The zebras, for some reason, were afraid of the cube and retreated to the side. But Ning did not notice. He was too focused on the cube.

He reached out to the cube, thinking, "Is it hot? Spaceships burn up when re-entering Earth. I wonder if it burned a little in the same way." He decided to gently tap it before fully touching it.

Tap.

"It's not hot. In fact, it's cold." He was surprised. Suddenly, the cube began to glow. It emitted a blue light for a second, then went out again.

"What was that?" He was curious and decided to pick it up. As he reached for it, suddenly, the cube almost melted into a black liquid and grabbed his hand.

"Ahhhhhh!" he began to scream in terror and started flailing his hands wildly to shake off the liquid.

"Ning, what's happening?" the elder in the distance heard Ning's screams and asked.

Suddenly, Ning heard a voice in his mind.

<Congratulations! You have obtained the Energy System.>

<All system functions are currently disabled.>

<The system will activate once conditions are met.>

"Ahhhhh!" He was still screaming, not knowing what was happening.

"Ning, stop screaming, or else..." Before the elder could finish his sentence, he heard a dozen sets of footsteps approaching. He looked and saw groups of zebras charging towards him.

When they reached him, the zebras turned and kicked him from both sides with their hind legs. His screams had terrified them, and they came here to defend themselves, getting rid of the "threat."

"No—" He couldn't even finish the sentence before he died.

<Congratulations! You have died.>

The so-called system spoke again, but the user was no longer alive to hear it.

"Where am I?" Ning Ruogong opened his eyes, or rather, he thought he opened his eyes, but it was still pitch black all around him. He couldn't hear any sounds, smell any scents, taste any flavors, or even feel the existence of anything.

"Those zebras attacked me, right? Am I paralyzed?" Ning began to doubt. "Or am I dead? How did I die?" He tried to recall as much as possible. He started to replay the events in his mind, in reverse chronological order, from the zebra attack.

Suddenly, he remembered hearing a voice. It sounded like... "Did it say 'System'?"

<Energy System is now open, Ning Ruogong.>

A voice echoed in his mind. "Who said that?" he shouted internally. His mouth, for some reason, didn't speak. Perhaps he really was paralyzed, or even dead.

<I am the Energy System, a part of you.>

He heard the voice again. "Who are you?" he asked.

<I am the Energy System, a part of you.>

The same answer repeated in his mind again. He didn't understand what was happening. "What is an Energy System?" he asked.

<The Energy System is a system that transforms you into energy after your death.> <As an Energy Body, you can live forever without worrying about death.>

"So I really died," he became sad. "Are you saying I'm energy now? What does that mean? Am I not human anymore?" he asked.

<Yes, you are now an energy that will never die, only change.> <Complete system tasks to become human.>

"Hmm..." Ning was curious and asked, "What tasks?"

"Okay... Status."

Suddenly, he felt like he saw light for the first time, and a flood of information appeared in his mind.
